Just a heads up for those unaware: *Fick led the platoon Wright reported on in Generation Kill* (both the book and the TV series), and from what I've heard there's a considerable difference in the story told from each point of view. I only wish they turned _One Bullet Away_ into a series too!
he's such a great person.....when u hear him talk in this video it just makes u think that nathaniel fick is a really good person.....that's wut i got from watching this video.....good job nate!
@erikglynn How was OCS? How prepared were you as far as running, pullups and crunches were concenred? How did you prepare. ANy advice would be greatly appreciated.
You are not the first, others have been where you are or will be . Bear this in mind, when the going gets tough. If they did it and succeeded, there is no reason you can't with dedication and perseverance.
@@viridianacortes9642 that's true, not everyone is called to serve - and Fick to his credit has made his money but has also served in government. I think he is in an ambassador-at-large position right now for the current administration related to cyber security. So it comforts me that at least his talents are being put to that good use.
I'm reading his book and read Generation Kill and watched the miniseries. I'm not saying he wouldn't be a good candidate, but the skills he developed and his natural talent in being a combat officer are very different than politics. Under-education (and lack of critical thinking) in the populous and dirty politics is the problem with a leader of our country. He would never make it to higher office with his strong morals. The skills to get elected (and maybe the moral faults) are different than leadership skills. When a large part of the country allows vaccines and masks to be politicized, how could an amazing and moral leader win against that? It shows that most people don't want someone to cut through the bullshit. They want someone to tell them what they want to hear (even if it hurts them).
@@bradleykreider3358 so what you’re saying is - he is too good for politics. And yet he is an ambassador at large. As a point of fact he is involved in politics literally with the current administration.
@jemustang1966 Hey you'll still go through the exact same thing as recruits but some more stuff every summer of college. A lot of guys want to go after college and go straight onto it but others want the best of both worlds from enlisted to officer. Ultimately i say if u don't want to deal with a lot of the bs in the fleet as a E-3 or below go after college.
One of the better books I have ever read, well done and Semper Fi!
Something Encino Man never learned.

i want to become a officer in the USMC but im afraid to make bad desisions in the marines when i need to lead.
@jemustang1966 Me too man! How much would you recommend this book?
He’s too smart for this - but why can’t someone like this be leading our country? I mean seriously, we would all follow someone like this!
I wish he was a presidential candidate. I’d vote out of my party for him. But unfortunately we have to pick between two senile dinosaurs.
