Thanks
Is this Lt Nate Fick from "Generation Kill"?
Yes
Yep
yes
Yes it is mate, he was a fantastic Recon Marine platoon commander and a brilliant writer as well.
Sure is
Nate Fick is the kind of bloke you'd just love to sit down and have a beer or two with.
have you read his book? the guy is very well educated. I agree with your comment, throw some Jameson's and a cigar in to top it off.
every generation has their Richard Winters. this generation, killed it. i have so much respect for these men
That pun was godly
What a decent man. Why do we not pay heed to what he says. He was there, he lead brave men, and earned their respect. Listening to him talk, it is very easy to see why. It is called, what my father, also a Marine Corps veteran , now wasting away in a nursing home, called Common Sense. All too uncommon. If Gsgt Brad Colbert would have faith in this man, so should we all. His life, and more importantly, the lives of his Marines, depended on it. So do ours.
I've read the book about a thousand times, as I love to read books like this, and it still fascinates me to this day. It's funny, action packed, terrifying and compassionate.
Great platoon commander, fantastic writer and a very likeable fella.🇬🇧🇺🇸✌✌
Read his book before going to OCS last year. Now I'll commission soon and I'm reading his book again before I head to TBS.
Reading this book before heading to Parris Island as a enlisted recruit in less than 2 weeks.
Should be required reading for all military members especially infantry both enlisted and officer
So meesh was really like in generation kill. :D
The whole series is kinda spot on, given some of the marines played themselves in the show :)
And several other First Recon men played other characters on the show (Eric Kocher played Cpt. Patterson's advisor)
this guy made so much sense... but it shows that the American war machine with its superior training and cutting edge technology made same very basic and grave mistakes going to these theatres of war ... It's like Flick said ' learn ... forget ... re-learn and then inevitably forgotten...'
His account in his novel, in connection with Generation Kill, solidified my decision to become a marine, whether that be officer or enlisted. I plan on going into NROTC after i graduate.
Did you you become a Marine?
I've come here to ask the same question: Did you end up joining? How did it go?
howd that go
Doubt you'd find out he hasn't posted anything on his channel for 10/11 years and haven't said something on his discussion page for 8
He is such an interesting guy. Loved his book.
Very well educated fighting man.. Not surprising that alot of his men has a high level of respect for him....
Yeah, I want to do OCS next summer by sheer virtue of reading his book and watching him speak about his experiences.
Did ya do it?
reading his book rn. even if you're not into military stuff i would recommend reading it
what a cool, honest guy.
31:00 I know whose blue force tracker that is..
iceman? LOL
Nate fick, you are a genious
Amazing book.
What I would give to sit down and talk with this guy.
Very insightful.
Very good video
Still no sitrep on J Lo?
…disappointing
Not enough talk about combat jack and November Juliet lol
Haha seeing this makes me feel so much better. I didn't get the scholarship first time either, and I just contracted in PLC and am hoping to go to Quantico this summer.
How was it?
How was it?
How was it?
smart man great marine
Guys people have not been active on their account for 8+ years most likely don't remember their password and most likely will never respond
It's kinda strange to see so many people aspiring to do something or not knowing how the future would be.
It's strangely sad
Yeah, it is
@@lancerblitz
Welp you just revived my existential crisis
@@sam8742 So do I xd
Fair enough
@JerichoHiltonA I figured it out. Guess i should have watched it before asking, but thank you for the response.
20:04 Why do I feel like Ray Persons made the sign?
Nate Fick - "I'm not an academic"
Attended: Dartmouth College, Harvard, Harvard Business School & Harvard Kennedy School...The guys and Ivy League to the teeth...Is he trying to be humble or trying to get some "street cred"? :)
I think it’s tongue in cheek. He’s served and lead in the hardest fighting force in the world. That’s plenty of “cred”.
He hasn't done much of an academic career/research. That's why he said that.
this man should be president but he's too honest and decent to be a politician really.
Having done double deployments in both from 2002 to 2007 i would disagree but i am just one man.
he's good.
Yep
@Ilove2huntMichigan you can get it on amazon.com for a pretty good deal.
@gotgank yes

Fick in 2024!
Nrotc is for officers, you should become one
The introduction was painful to watch.
Ok. There. I said it. Feel better now.
Thanks for saving me the time - skip to about 7:30
When I was a 13 I was thinking about being an interpreter then I realized, when I get out of High School we'll be out of Afghanistan and we'll be some where else. So I decided I want to a Scout Sniper.
Oh boy did this not age well lol
Missions in Saudi Arabia? Anyone else catch that?
Chester Dubya Nimitz
Haha thanks, I've got a 291 so far. Are you an officer?
Fick 2016
Tora Bora was given to delta.
Delta was told to stand down as well and in an interview with a Delta operator he said the afghans even raised their weapons on them when they chose to advance anyways.
Mariners lost a great officer! Lieutenant Fick would be a great General
Ewww Seattle
Its my bomb and I want it now!
This man could be a great candidate for President of the United States.
43:40 he said Dooty :)
It’s weird to think a baby in Afghanistans first words were alhamdulilah and ours is something like mom or spongebob or the name of a telletubby
Imagine if he talked at UC Berkeley today. Antifa would throw a hissy fit riot
yaaaawn
Maybe you should take your avatar's advice.
sounds like you've been cucked by a liberal.
No I wouldn’t.
Yes the extremely triggered radical leftist Antifa would for damn sure
Speaker is a tool. Over exaggerating his stuff. I bet i got more combat footage from Afghanistan then him but i don't brag about it. He is taking credit for Pakistan while it was just used as a transit to Afghanistan and US did sold Pakistanis F-16 in 80s and 04.If he is sleeping in a hanger then obviously didn't had access to main base. He is just trying to spice-up things. 90% of marines who stayed in after 06 would agree that Afghan deploys were way harder then Iraqi.
King Kong did you even read his book?
I don't think I've ever seen a real Combat Veteran brag about the amount of combat footage he got from the GWOT.
You got footage? Loser.
Haha thanks, I've got a 291 so far. Are you an officer?
