I know he had his hand kicked pretty hard earlier in the fight, but I can't imagine that was when the finger came off. It might have done initial damage that made the eventual loss more possible, but a kick wouldn't cause such a clean wound like he had (google the pic)

I had the tip of my finger severed as a child and had it planted back on. My dad had of of the screen doors with the sliding glass. The glass was up and I was holding the door open letting the dog in and somehow the glass window part fell and was so fast it severed my index finger. You honestly don’t feel it at first. Even seeing it I just kept staring in disbelief didn’t cry or anything and was 10-11. My dad however almost passed out lol
@@walterquito7797 yup. It takes a while for the nerves and stuff to fuse and all that Jazz of course and it’s a weird almost numb feeling at the tip of my finger but it’s fully functional. I actually didn’t notice until people around me starting screaming. Luckily the doctors were able to put it back on and it’s almost 100% functional 10 years later. 1/3 of my finger has lost all feeling but the thing works which is amazing. Praying he can get it back functional.

Addrenaline or shock, i cut my leg open pretty bad once didnt really feel it till i got in the ambulance 15 mins later, but nowhere near comparable to losing a finger i would have freaked tf out once i saw it gone lol,
@@OHB666 actually a very similar finger injury happened to Randy Costa in the same MMA organization. So yeah, it is a glove problem since it seems to only happen in that one.

I would have thought if ever an MMA fighter would lose a finger, it would be during a fence grab while being massively pushed around or falling down. But this apparently happened from a kick. Crazy.
New to this channel, enjoy the content nd would like the episodes to be longer I would like to see you go into a little more detail on some of these. Your channel has a lot of potential.
When I was in Highschool, I had a classmate who missed classes like 3 days in a row after a weekend, and when he came back, he had his forearm with a cast and a surgery done to his forearm. When we asked what happened, he told us that he was running downstairs and that he fell, and he felt like nothing happened, just slid through the stairs, and when he stood up, he noticed he was missing his right hand ring finger. He found it right there and he took it with him to the hospital, where it couldn't be reattached. So they ended up removing some stuff apparently because it was needed. And for the rest of Highschool shaking his hand always felt weird, because his hand was too small now. The point here, is that from his perspective, he didn't felt like the slide was too much of a deal for his hand to end up like that.
The only part that surprised me was that it happened in a fight. It's basically a ring degloving, like when someone usually a guy get their ring caught on something and then the force rips the ring and finger off.
Just watched an interview with him and one of his coaches and they said the finger was hanging on by a sliver of skin, and was in the glove. Not sure if he's the one who stuffed it in there, but the coach said he tried to hide it from them so he could finish the 3rd round. That man is an absolute savage
I was working at a group home and had a kid cut the tip of their finger off in a racquetball court door. They mis-timed how long they had to go through it, lunged for it at the last second, and their finger went right over the latch. Clean detachment at the first knuckle. Craziest thing I've ever seen. We found the end and were at the hospital within 10 minutes but they ended up not being able to re attach it
That's literally combat sports tho. I suppose there's other types like wrestling or BJJ. Fighters are aware (or at least they think they are) of the injuries/damage they could sustain in a fight
Jesus you're fast. What ended up happening as best I can tell is he threw a punch and smacked it against the cage. He immediately grabs at his hand (dislocation or break probably). Then as you see in the fight, he gets it ripped off by the other fighter. They couldn't find the finger at first but it was stuck in his glove. They recovered it later on and it was reattached at the hospital. This all comes from Marc Raimondi on twitter.
I saw a guy loose his little toe during a college wrestling meet. It was intermural wrestling so they let him wrestle without shoes on. I'm honestly surprised it doesn't happen more frequently in MMA.
Just can't imagine watching a fight and then an announcement will come on PA and asks you to help look for a missing finger... Weird times... Thanks for the vid...✌️
As a combat veteran. Adrenaline is a crazy drug that can pretty much make you feel nothing. I’ve had my spinal cord almost completely separated in a practice hand to hand combat. Then I’ve also have had bullets so close to my face that I could feel the wind off of them going by me. But I could literally charge through a wall because of the adrenaline rush that was going through my body.
Damn the spinal injury must've hurt like hell later on. One time I got into a wild 3v3 brawl during a basketball game and I DIDNT get an adrenaline rush, and that was a strangely surreal experience in itself . Got punched in the face 3 or 4 different times and felt every bit of em lol. I'd never make it in war
