Just a hint for using the thermal, not for real world but if you are making visuals for the masses then you may consider...
Glass of water and ice, place probe in. Metal is best but your choice.
Use cold probe under thermal to point out shorts. This way you can have a good contrast between the problem and the pointer.

Hi , i have area 51m r2 won't turn on after putting it in a cold and humidity 88% overnight i have pressed power button many times and then for 30 sec with and without charger then i smelled burning coming from the the back fan and from graphic amplifier port , what could have happened and how much does it cost , also i have an old problem with keyboard buttons working and stopping and some of them doesn't work and some works again if i pressed it hard could it be somethig in the motherboard causing that as i have connected a wireless keyboard and it works fine

I once had a alienware laptop back in 2007. Payed around 800 usd. After around 5 months it suddenly wouldnt start. I tried a new powersupply, but no luck :/
I contacted support and they wanted 300 usd just for them to open it and figure out what was the problem. *i also had to pay for shipping both ways + insuranse all the way to china.
As a poor student i couldnt afford that.. so i scraped the pc...
Bought a 300ish usd cheap laptop later: it had a nice long life before it was retired.

the customer is not a paying customer until they have a job in place. the other customer on the other hand has paid for diagnosis. if you paid and had to wait how would you feel ? yes the customer is always right but a paying customer has priority i think.
