Something I was always impressed with is that Tom and Mark could make riffs in similar spots if not exact yet it sounds completely different. You're correct. It shares similar notes to Going away to college as well as rollercoaster.
true. blink has a lot of riffs that are very similar in style and note choice but its also what makes their guitar riffs instantly recognizable as blink riffs.
I got a comment that disappeared. I don't know. But it was related to the intro and how it's not " exactly " how he plays it. For stringed instruments, the same note can exist in several postions. One example of this is tuning a guitar by ear, or the 7th fret is the same as the higher 2nd fret. My point is im playing the same notes in a different position that I personally found easier. It does not change the song at all. If this is confusing, I apologize. Another example would be " Dammit " where Tom complicates things by playing 3 - 5 - 2, but it can also be played 3 - 0 - 2. Most people will find 3 - 0 - 2 easier. I hope this helps, and I'm sorry if I felt misleading. I promise it's not.
Thanks! It's the Fender Newporter. If you're curious it runs 350 - 750 depending on the quality. The one I have is 499 and has a brighter sound and is thinner than most acoustics. Similar to an electric!
@@thew.a.ymusic thanks for that info! The only acoustic I have is a jumbo sized with high action. I’m definitely looking to get a new one now that I’ve been playing for a year. Been dying to learn some blink. This is my fave song by them, so thanks for the tutorial!
@@IWH559 3 out of 4 of mine are jumbo but the one I use live is this one. Easy to play. You're welcome! I'm slowly getting better at tutorials. This was my first but I'm shorting the sections and adding Tabs. Hopefully I'll have another one you like and our paths will cross again. Ps. This is my favorite blink song because it's fun to play and sing.
they like to arpeggiate a lot of intros, thinking about Adams song, what's my AA, lot of power chords and octaves where you press the same note and mute everything else
My favorite Blink 182 jam 👍🏼. Excellent upload
Thanks! if you have any other favorites or want to learn another let me know. I’ll try my best to get a tutorial up.
Brilliant explanation. Thanks for uploading.
Can’t wait to nail this.
Keep it up 🎸
Hey! No problem, thanks for listening! I hope it helps. I'll link a tab to it in case you need more detail.
tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/blink-182/mutt-tabs-1220101 This is close to what I hear. The main riff is transposed elsewhere but it's similar.
2:40 going away to college

This is very true! They do this to create a fuller sound. Fills the " room " so to speak.
