"Harmless." Nah, a dog bite is still a dog bite and shouldn't be tolerated no matter their size. Their size and cuteness should never ever excuse them from being rightfully reprimanded for being aggressive. So many more would enjoy being around the small dogs if they weren't so snappy, overly frail, and incessantly yappy. Sometimes it is bad genetics/poor temperament breeding and or previous experiences that shape them into menaces, but the lack of socializing, training and well, treating the dog like a dog only exasperates all the issues.

I agree. I have a ten-year-old rescue chihuahua who is a real sweetheart. She’s vocal when somebody comes to the door but she’s very affectionate and extremely non-aggressive.
My chihuahua is literally the most gentle and sweet dog I’ve ever met. He loves all dogs and people. He’s never tried to bite and he only barks on the rarest occasions. He’s going on 15 1/2 (yes I count the 1/2 now because he’s getting that old) and he’s still an angel with every living creature he meets.
He is a rarity for chihuahuas. Too many people have them around here and all the ones I have known except for one may years ago have been batshit crazy. People in my family have them and I loathe them. I knew one like yours long ago and she was my favorite doggo when she was around. I had a malty-poo that was like your chihuahua, but he passed away a few years ago too soon or else he would be a little younger than yours by now. I miss him terribly. Please give your doggo a kiss for me for being such a rare chihuahua.
They tend to get ornerier as they age and usually related to their dental health. I noticed with mine once I had her unhealthy teeth removed, she became so much more friendly to everything and everyone.
Congratulations on having the rare exception to the breed. I've had chihuahuas for years and they are the feistiest little boogers and have needed tons of time and attention to just not tear up the place. LOL
When you said "After what seemed like a decade, I _finally_ got the conditioner out of his _very_ thick coat," I felt that deep in my soul. Toby appears to be my kindred spirit, because man...the necessity of conditioning thick hair is only matched by the agonizing battle to get the conditioner _out_ of that hair. I can only imagine how long his blow-dry must have taken!
Omg right??? I am super densely hair'd, I seem to have 2 sets of hair, and honestly I can't grow mine past my chin because a thorough shampoo takes like 30 mins...I've got my conditioning routine managed so the rinse is quick but omg I hate the blow dryer & my stylist has to bribe me too... One used to withhold new magazines until dryer time lol, but she married my ex husband and won't cut my hair anymore. I miss her.
There’s a lot of abandoned chihuahuas where I live, since we’re near Mexico. Many of which were also horribly abused. The horror stories I’ve heard about what happened to these poor little creatures made me have an extra soft spot for them. (Along with Pittbulls) One of my coworkers I knew made a rescue organization focused on them and they were able to find them loving homes and provide care for their many injuries, and she herself owns over 10 of them. They’re all absolutely adorable and sweet, and massive cuddlers. We must always be kind to our animal friends. Dogs are a precious gift to us. ❤️
I live in SW Florida where we have a lot of illegal immigrants from Mexico and S. America due to us being mostly agricultural (mostly orange groves) and we also have a problem with a large amount of Chihuahuas being thrown away, neglected and abused! Our humane society is full of both Chihuahuas and Pit Bulls, it's extremely sad! If I had the money, the space and was in better health (I'm disabled) I would try to do something to help but I'm doing good just trying to keep up with the two I have! But if I ever hit that lottery.......
@@amandacox4211 that’s so sad. Yeah, it’s the same problem here. If I were a millionaire, I’d buy a huge farm and have hundreds of dogs all living happily together. lol
Thank your friend for her kindness to these little dogs. I rescued one who I think was abused and he is a handful, even after 13+ years, but I love him to pieces. He is so loyal.
Had a chihuahua who lived to be 21 and she was the sweetest one I’ve ever met. Our other chihuahua was a snappy grumpy old man for his 15 years. They truly do have personalities.
As someone who had the "pleasure" of living next to a neighbor with a chihuahua for 2 years, I can't understand how they give their dogs names like bella, princess, buddy or cooper. This dog breed needs names like Cthullu, Hellraiser, Balrog or Godzilla and their own death metal band logo.
My family had one named Chupacabra. My Spanish coworkers thought it was hilarious. We called her Chupie for short, which was appropriate because she chewed and peed a lot when she was a puppy.
I saw one in a department store, sitting on the floor beside his owner, as the man spoke with a salesman. Later I saw them leaving, the dog on the left, two steps behind the owner. If the man stopped, doggeh did also.
The dog colour pallette that perfectly emulates a marshmallow that you started browning on one side over the fire, then it was suddenly enveloped in flame and you quickly blew it out.
I literally loved how he just refused to give her his hand. He's just like " no! No! You can't have that! It's mine!" As he gives into her shaving his paw pads 🤣
I had a Newfy that weight 155 lbs. This helped me appreciate how amazing the groomer really was. Whenever I tried it he just pulled away and overpowered me. He always looked amazing when I picked him up, but then would roll in dirt first chance he had.
My black and tan Chihuahua was with me for 19 years. I watched him back a Doberman off our porch once. He passed a couple of years back, sometimes at night I can hear his nails walking across the oak floors.
This is so funny to see siblings the same colours and sooo completely different in size. 😂😂 And to watch you try and do the big ones feet as he pulled. 😂😂😂😂
Our neighbors have 2 long-haired chihuahuas. They are just the sweetest girls. They are also fiercely protective of their human baby sister. They've been enamored with that little baby since she came into the world earlier this year.
This hits it with me. I had one that looked just exactly like this but with shorter hair. I grew up with two Chihuahuas and can confirm that this breed is ferocious.
I'm living in a homeless shelter right now, so my girl is in a foster home. I miss her like crazy, but I feel amazingly lucky that she's in a foster situation and that I didn't have to give her up. Anyway, she's a Husky/Chihuahua/Dachshund...yeah, she's pure chaos. 😅😅😅😅😅
the Chihuahua and Dachshund mix I sort of get, but who looked at that and thought "yes, we should add husky to this" 😂😂😂 I hope you can live together again soon!
Talk about an extreme size difference! I love black and tan dogs as well, but I prefer the smaller breeds. As my name and profile picture suggests I love dachshunds.
My neighbor has three chihuahuas and I can attest to their aggressiveness. Thankfully they never bit me or my dogs, but boy did it take a while for "Sammy" the alpha of the trio to calm down and realize that my girls weren't interested in hurting him, his siblings or his mom and all I wanted to do to him was give him "loves" (basically pets and belly rubs). Now they greet me and the girls with a charge, trying to see who can reach us first to get the first "loves" (It's usually Sammy)
The most crucial piece of advice I can give to any prospective chihuahua owner is SOCIALISE EARLY. Seriously, if you miss that 8-to-16-week window, you're going to struggle to help your chihuahua be calm and confident. They're naturally timid dogs owing to their size (hence why they lash out) and that early window is so critical for them to internalise that the world and new stimuli are safe things. I know your puppy looks tiny and fragile and you're worried about it coming to harm - but it's far more likely to come to harm as an adult dog if it can't regulate its emotions. It needs to experience the world as a baby! My 9-month-old chihuahua is an absolute sweetie-pie, and it's because I've had him out in the world from the moment I got him home. Chihuahuas are great dogs, but those early puppy months require intensive hard work, more-so than many other breeds. Read up on puppy socialisation and psychology before you bring your chihuahua home, put in the work in those early months, and you'll raise an absolutely wonderful tiny companion. 💕
Yes! I love chihuahuas. I hate it when people say they’re yappy and mean because that’s 100% training. People don’t take it seriously because they’re so little so they think it’s funny when they misbehave.
I feel like chihuahua's often end up so overtly aggressive because the owners set up too few boundaries, or because they are so overprotective of their little monster that the dog gets insecure as a result, lashing out easily and loudly. A well-trained chihuahua, on the other hand, is one hell of a joy bundle, as long as you don't get too pushy.
I had Dachshund/ Chihuahua mix named Lylah. She was long haired and weighed in at 12.5 pounds. I actually belonged to her instead of her belonging to me. She was my fierce protector against everything. She made me laugh, and I miss her dearly. She passed at 15.
We still miss our Chihuahua mix. He was the Goodest Boy and remembered fondly. I managed to capture a photo of him in his final years which is kept by my Dad in the office.
My little blue chihuahua, Domo, is the literal ANGEL of cheewees. Everyone is so surprised by her loving personality. No biting, no scratching, no growling, no aggressive behavior whatsoever…in her entire life. She loves kids and animals. She loves every single living thing on earth. Not even joking. We live on a farm and she wanders around with the wild deer and wild turkeys and none of them mind each other. It’s like a kids Bible story, the chihuahua eating grass right next to the deer and turkeys. It’s wild. She even loves cats. Won’t bother any animal, will just go up to them and sniff the air and go on with her business. She plays with the barn cats. Actually plays. She plays with our pet rabbit. They chase each other around and lick and groom each other and the rabbit taught her how to jump straight up in the air like he does. They share carrots/apple slices/snacks. One eating from one end, the other on the opposite end. Like that spaghetti scene in Lady And The Tramp. She knows an insane amount of words and phrases. I can’t even begin to type them all. She literally understands conversational English. She spooky smart. My husband said her personality and intelligence is because I raised her like a human child lol. I got her the very same day she opened her eyes…as her mother was very very sick and didn’t make it. I bottle fed her. When she was a baby I HAD to constantly wear a hoodie and put her in the hood so she could come everywhere with me. Or she would SCREAM…and I mean SCREAM…like a human baby. So she was in the hood of my jacket when I did laundry and dishes. And I talked to her constantly. My husband says dogs are like babies, and the more you interact with them and talk to them…the more neural pathways will open up. She IS a monster to worms tho. 😅 It’s the only creature she likes to eat.
Lady, I can relate to a lot of what youre describing. My jackwahwah is very similar. We cant even get away with just spelling the words anymore. She loves to teach the shepherds how to play and will look for my nod of approval before continuing. She tries so hard to get them to toss the boy back to her. On the other hand, she loves to steal the chew bone from whichever shephard is enjoying it. She doesnt want hers, she wants theirs. They know they better not protest but they still look at me with that aw come on man, make her give it back. Her main fault though, is hardly ever holding still. Gotta keep going & going. Her leash is not a leash, its my wind up toy handle.
Watching this woman skillfully groom dogs is oddly cathartic. Watching her handle that Burmese makes you realize how much of a job doing this really is! Nice work.
so excited for potential groom giveaway!! also thank you for specifying the chihuahuas need to be trained, not babied. well trained chihuahuas are such a treat to be around.
Bella is pretty and well behaved, but Toby's face... what a sweet face! Both dogs are beautiful and very lucky to have owners that are so caring and loving!
We adopted a senior chihuahua and he could not be more loving. He never bites or barks, never gave me issues with bathing, nail trims, brushing, teeth brushing, you name it. He's never aggressive at the vet. The most he does is shiver. Honestly the whole aggressive stereotype bothers me, because I have met so many chihuahuas and most of them were insanely sweet and nice. Aggression, excessive barking, etc. pretty much all boils down to how the dog was raised/trained, and whether they were abused. No chihuahua is born with aggression, or excessive barking. People just need to treat their small dogs better.
Bella is adorable, I lost my Bosco he was a long haired Chihuahua 3 months ago. He was much like Bella, a sweet Chihuahua. One day I will be ready for another one. Watching your channel and seeing dogs get groomed helps me deal with the loss, don’t ask me why, but it does. So thank you for that. Rip my little Bosco 😢
My Chihuahua/Brussels Griffon mix was a darling. She loved children more than anything and never harmed anyone. All she wanted was cuddles & kisses. They get bad rep when they are wonderful dogs. ❤️
With Bella I hold my breath the whole groom. She looked like she is seconds away from exploding. These side eyes were meeaaan... Tobyy, ten times her size seems much more harmless...
I have a Chihuahua adopted from my city's shelter. He was a stray, so they had no history for him. He did extremely well on his temperament test, and he's a really sweet dog. He's never been the slightest bit aggressive towards me - no biting, growling, or showing his teeth, not even when I'm giving him pills or handling his paws. There have been a couple of men he didn't like, and he reacted badly to a male German shepherd once. I watch him carefully around strange dogs, especially if they're bigger than he is.
I think I've only met a handful of well adjusted/trained chihuahuas in my lifetime she was well behaved! I'm also guilty of having animals with the same markings, we are a tuxedo household 2 dogs 1 cat tuxedo and one red headed stepchild ginger tabby 😂
I have a long coat chi male, no agressiveness or barking unless unknown dogs are close by our building. Trained him to wake me up when I have hypoglycemia, can bring him anywhere on any means of public transport, all stores that don't handle food have let me carry him with me for 5 years and counting. Walk long hikes in the mountains in the summer, or a short trip in front of our building if it's cold/raining. Good friends with the 4 other dogs in the hallway. All in all a perfect pet.
I'd love to see a chihuahua-shih tzu mix one day. We had two from one litter until we lost them both to age last year, and now we have two more that are about 8 months old. There is no telling what you'll get for a temperament with them; the first two were a nervous nellies, both disliking strangers, and the current two consist of one nervous but ultimately friendly nelly and one that loves _everything_
My 12 y/o chihuahua is the sweetest and has never bitten once, and she doesn't bark at strangers. Little dogs get a bad rep because of irresponsible owners, so it makes me sad when I hear people say they "hate" small dogs. ):
Awe, such a sweetie. Great job working on both Toby and Bella. Our chihuahua was the scared, I don’t like this kind. He lived 15 years with us and loved my mom.
Aw, Bella's beautiful and looks well-behaved! Chihuahuas may be tiny, but they either don't know it, or do, and they don't want to get stepped on....lol. So cute! Don't forget you'll need a passport, if you enter and win the contest.
bella is so polite! chihuahuas are wonderful little dogs if they're socialized and trained properly-- very affectionate and VERY protective despite being so tiny 😂 oh my god the size difference between bella and toby, i'm obsessed! i love when giant dogs and tiny dogs are friends 🥺
Again, I thank you very much for the tips and alerts you give owners/prospective owners when considering bringing a particular breed of dog into the family. Dogs take a lot of care and attention, and it's certainly worth all of it when you adopt your fur babies. Toby and Bella are beautiful, by the way, and I can only imagine what a joy it was grooming both of them.
When I was three years old our Chihuahua, Tuffy, bit me in the face. I don't have any memory of it happening but was told about it years later when I asked why I had a small scar under my eye. Now being a whole lotta years older, the thin scar has vanished into a sea of wrinkles. I think I preferred the scar!
I have a chihuahua, dachshund, jack russell mix also named Bella. Can confirm she is a hell hound with the combination of all three. The chihuahua though… wow. 😂
Bella looked like she was successfully repressing some strongly negative emotions :)

He’s going on 15 1/2 (yes I count the 1/2 now because he’s getting that old) and he’s still an angel with every living creature he meets.
So precious 💖
LOL
you r a good owner, most owners treat them badly just bcs people in the internet made them seem like agrressive
I liked Toby’s “thank you” at the end of the video- the tail wag to your face. ❤️😂
He's a very considerate gentleman.
I miss her.
That is the most chill chihuahua I've seen. Kudos to the owners.
The long hair ones seem way more chill
She was so patient - her face said "I hate this" the whole time hahaha
If I were a millionaire, I’d buy a huge farm and have hundreds of dogs all living happily together. lol
I'm not a fan of Chihuahuas but there's a special place in hell for anyone who abuses a dog...any dog.
@@gregfawcett4043 exactly!!!
That's 147 in dog years 🤯
As someone who had the "pleasure" of living next to a neighbor with a chihuahua for 2 years, I can't understand how they give their dogs names like bella, princess, buddy or cooper.
This dog breed needs names like Cthullu, Hellraiser, Balrog or Godzilla and their own death metal band logo.
I...I need a death metal band chihuahua group now
@@fabricdragon yes.
My family had one named Chupacabra. My Spanish coworkers thought it was hilarious.
We called her Chupie for short, which was appropriate because she chewed and peed a lot when she was a puppy.
my dad has one named Duke lmao
Ahahahha
Aww, Abbot and Costello Duo 🤣 both beautiful doggies. The big one is so cuddly 😍
That grumpy side eye in the hood is so funny 🥰 bless her little heart ❤️ lol
The size of Toby's paws, my goodness. Such a sweet giant.
Good Chihuahuas are a work of art. Props to that owner .
What a combination, I’m sure this dog owner is never bored. ♥️
Listen I am literally from Chihuahua, Mexico and you see chihuahuas everywhere there and I ain't never seen one that hairy 😭 I love her
It's probably too hot for dogs with long hair!
@@DonnaBrooks it's both too hot and too cold there so idk
That is probably the first well behaved chihuahua that I’ve ever seen. Well done to Bella’s owners
Being from Arizona, this is the most chill and quiet chihuahua I’ve ever seen.
Sad to hear most people from Arizona abuse their dogs :C At least small dogs.
That was an entire workout!! What an adorable odd couple pair of pooches 😍😍
Our neighbors have 2 long-haired chihuahuas. They are just the sweetest girls. They are also fiercely protective of their human baby sister. They've been enamored with that little baby since she came into the world earlier this year.
I have a long haired chi and she is the sweetest. I'm so thankful lol they do have warrior spirit and will defend those they love til the end.
I have 2 long coat chihuahuas and they are so incredibly sweet. Our groomer loves them too
This hits it with me. I had one that looked just exactly like this but with shorter hair. I grew up with two Chihuahuas and can confirm that this breed is ferocious.
The tail wag at the end looked strong enough to knock someone unconscious😂
I'm living in a homeless shelter right now, so my girl is in a foster home. I miss her like crazy, but I feel amazingly lucky that she's in a foster situation and that I didn't have to give her up. Anyway, she's a Husky/Chihuahua/Dachshund...yeah, she's pure chaos. 😅😅😅😅😅
I hope things get better for you soon!
the Chihuahua and Dachshund mix I sort of get, but who looked at that and thought "yes, we should add husky to this" 😂😂😂
I hope you can live together again soon!
@@isthatrubble I think maybe the husky did lol
Husky Chihuahua Dachshund? How did that happen?
Prayers for you
Talk about an extreme size difference!
Toby Ticklepaws and also that tail wind at the end 🤣
This is so cute! 😍
Your husband has nailed it. ❤
Toby and Bella are beautiful! I have a 13 year old chihuahua and she can be a fiery little beast, but she is my heart!!❤🐾🐶🫶🏻🥰
They make a perfect couple, her bark as ferocious as his bite could possibly be. Thank you for the video.
As soon as I saw the title, I knew it was a chihuahua!😂😂😂
These dogs are both so well behaved! Kudos to their owners!
better behaved than some adults and little kids
So sorry for the loss of your dog. Rip Bosco 🌈
@@MsCassieCrowe Thank You 🙏
I’m so sorry for your loss. I think Bosco will let your heart know when it is time to welcome your next fur baby into your life. 💝
Toby was much more nervous tho. Bella was very well behaved
The side-eye she gives while in the Happy Hoodie: "I will get you for this!" 😆
I have a long coat chi male, no agressiveness or barking unless unknown dogs are close by our building.
*_Toby, dear Toby, show them what you can do!_*
and Bella seems like an overall nice Chihuahua
What an Awesome two for one treat! Thank you
Wow that's a very nice vacation gift you are giving away. How kind of you!! God bless you! Hope a deserving person wins!!
I had a chihuahua mix growing up. Despite the stereotypes she was a very sweet girl, even if she tended to bark at strangers.
Bella is honestly a well demeanor chihuahua. She has a great owner.
Bella looked like a baby seal with the Happy Hoodie on her 😂 so cute and love her spice!
Bella’s entire back leg fits in your fist, meanwhile it’s a struggle to hold onto just one of Toby’s paws. 😂❤
I love her voice in this video! She reminds me of LockPickingLawyer. Great work!
I miss my late dog very much (we said goodbye to her this september, after 18 years together), watching your videos ease me a lot
You are a wonderful groomer with a great personality it seems! Your videos make me so happy
We have a Chihuahua mix. She's 15lbs. She's all talk but she's never actually hurt/bit anyone.
My 12 y/o chihuahua is the sweetest and has never bitten once, and she doesn't bark at strangers.
Little dogs get a bad rep because of irresponsible owners, so it makes me sad when I hear people say they "hate" small dogs. ):
DANG that's probably one of the cutest Chihuahuas I've ever seen! A lovely head of hair on her,
They're both beautiful and I think it's adorable that they're brothers. TYFS!
Getting a real 'Secret Life of Pets' dynamic from these two.
So cute! Don't forget you'll need a passport, if you enter and win the contest.
bella is so polite! chihuahuas are wonderful little dogs if they're socialized and trained properly-- very affectionate and VERY protective despite being so tiny 😂
oh my god the size difference between bella and toby, i'm obsessed! i love when giant dogs and tiny dogs are friends 🥺
Oh my gosh!! I'd love to actually visit Niagara Falls. Drove everywhere for 15 years but never got to actually SEE the SIGHTS
Why is nobody talking about how hilarious the second dog is. I was crying when you were shaving his paws 😂
Canada side of Niagara Falls is awesome! I visited both sides in October 2018.
Hahahahahaha
That’s one Big Boy and the cutest Little Girl!
I have a chihuahua, dachshund, jack russell mix also named Bella. Can confirm she is a hell hound with the combination of all three. The chihuahua though… wow. 😂
I have a long hair girl named Lola and the way Bella was death glaring at the camera is the same way my loaf death glares the broom whenever I sweep🤣🤣
