This little guy is definitely an example of how dog groomers don't just "play with puppies all day". He definitely had some serious attitude issues. I give you so much credit for how calm & patient you were with him.
This dog was suffering pretty badly. With the matting and curled under claws he was basically walking on his finger and toe nails all day. probably pretty painful.
I'm a dog groomer also & I usually say when they scream in the bath like that it's cuz I'm bathing them in battery acid & razor blades 😂... it's actually warm water & tear free shampoo but try telling the doggo that😅
@@RunninUpThatHillh my dog hated the sound of clippers, so yeah, my mom didn't take him to the groomers very often because he would snap and then they'd muzzle him instantly without knowing why he snapped and she hated how they would muzzle him. My dog never was muzzle trained or even knew what it was, so when the groomers did that, he pretty much threw his body all around, and being chained up to the table, yeah, our lil man could of harmed himself badly, or others. Long story short, the groomers didn't listen to what my dog was trying to signal them. A groomer or my dog could of gotten seriously injured. My mom spent 6-10hrs on a weekend just trimming down our dog. Comb and scissors. Blisters and all and weirdly enough, our dog sat there like a statue, would angle his face to get in the tighter areas, more so sat there in pride like "yes, cut my fur off mama, its TOO MUCH!" So I totally agree with you. Id much rather take the time to groom my own dog vs taking them to a closed in, unfamiliar spot. Not saying Vanessa is horrible or anything negative, its just the fact not all dogs need a professional to groom them. YES, it's easier, its what groomers are there for, hell , even hairstylists for people! Its 100% a service type of job. But sometimes it just isn't the proper situation/setting for the groomer or dog(s). If the dog is older or has medical stuff going on, maybe NOT seeing a groomer is the better situation. Vanessa seems caring but not every groomer is* I rambled on, sorry about that but its truly a matter of fact. Some dogs just CANT be taken to the groomers. There are steps to make it seem more bearable for the dog.. but, not all methods work. (*dog i had growing up was a Cockapoo, his name was George and he crossed the rainbow bridge in 2013 ❤ that weirdo didn't like water but loved to be blow dried off. He would wait for it. Such a spoiled one he was)
The balls this woman has to be literal inches away from getting bitten and still not give a damn is amazing to me. You are such a skilled and professional groomer
I think the thing that needs to be remembered, Pekingese, Lhasa Apso, the Maltese and the Shit Zhous, are all alarm breeds. They are specifically bred to be small breeds that can alert to intruders or strangers inside walled complexes like monasteries and forts. They were bred to be reactive and loud. In that regard, these small breeds do make a lot more sense. It would also be a reasonable explanation as to why socialization didn’t really do as much for the small alarm breeds like it does for the larger guard breeds. They weren’t supposed to become desensitized to new experiences because that made them a worse dog for the task they were bred for. It’s just supremely unhelpful now because they aren’t used in that role any more. They’re reactive in a world that hasn’t got a use for that reactivity; and it’s really a shame that it would take so long to breed that reactivity out, even with a unified breeding approach.
@@petpeevesundays, mum had a Lhasa that would howl if left alone for too long. Was very handy when she started getting senile and got lost inside the house, just follow the crying until you found the dog.
My Shih Tzu Harvey used to use his skills for when I walked up or down the stairs, or if someone knocked at the front door. He never snapped or bit but he made damn well sure you felt his presence lol.
I had a Pekingese but he loved all humans, never bit anyone and would have jumped and licked a robber hahaha. The only downside was that he was extremely unsocial and aggressive towards almost every dog he ever walked by past.
My newly rescued shih tzu woke us all up in the middle of the night and refused to calm down because she could hear thieves in the garage - we thought it was just a racoon scrambling over the back fence when we turned the lights on to look. The thieves got one bike, but she saved the rest of the garage! Even our upstairs neighbours, whose bikes she helped to save, is quite happy to listen to her bark at the postman now - everyone knows when a package arrives. It also means my older dog officially gets to retire from his guard dog duties and sleep through everything without a care in the world. We're perfectly happy with our little alarm dog!
She was absolutely wonderful with little Louie. And maybe calling him a good boy this time and being so kind with him will make his next grooming experience better. Or at least one can hope
Definitely. I've had a pekingese and luckily she didn't have that smushed a face but she still had breathing issues. At least hers were mostly limited to snoring and having occassional panic attacks when it was humid out causing her nose to clog up, but this is just pure evil. Poor guy
Not all Pekingese have breathing issues! My Pekes don’t, they even run FCAT races. They are purebred Pekes and Grand Champions at conformation shows as well as having good temperament. They don’t snore and don’t have excessive wrinkles or eye issues.
@@nicolaxoxo1 That's relieving to know, though I do find the image of them competing and running races to be quite sweet and amusing haha Unfortunately the ones I've seen and had were of mixed breeds, so those issues were quite common, with varying severities. I imagined purebreds wouldn't have those health issues. Thanks for sharing
To be fair to this furry snapping turtle if I spent my entire life being barely able to see or breath I would be a bit cranky too. Many blessings on you for powering through & making his life more comfortable.
I think breeds like this are much harder to "read" as well, all the usual signs that a dog would give before biting are masked by the facial deformities - he's constantly panting and licking, so you can't use that; his eyes are so front-facing that it's hard to see a whale-eye; he can't snarl, because he barely has a muzzle; his ears are so flat and fluffy that they're tough to read position. I'm not surprised they have a reputation for snapping with no warning, what warnings can they give? I'm sure that struggle to communicate causes them extra background stress as well. I'd be very grumpy if I had to live with all that.
Yea agreed. I'm glad they banned them (too short nosed breeds) where I'm from a short while ago. Not only breeding but having one aswell is now illegal since the start of this year, ofcourse people who have one can keep them still. I think it is for the better we don't breed dogs like these anymore because they have alot of health issues and struggle to even breathe normally.
Funny enough, it wasn't a growl, just him taking in breath with the mushed in face. You'd never believe he was an absolute murder-dog if you didn't see it first hand.
I love how you are so compassionate with animals and also how you spoke about not every owner being able to afford expensive procedures. Owning a pet these days can be thousands a year when you’re treating leukemia and thyroid cancer in two different cats, kidney blockage in another, a dog who gets 5 separate eye drops twice a day, and a dog who’s a binge eater and needs Ozempic.
His pretty extreme "bitey" attitude did get noticeably better after all that matting was taken care of...I can only imagine what discomfort - and in the case of his horrendously overgrown nails - outright pain he's been living with. Thank you for not giving up on this grouchy boy, and for giving his owners a way to get the care he so desperately needed. You are a light! Also, A) glad you didn't get bit! and...B) your reflexes are impressive!
Love that he DIDNT get to win as a dictator, which would just reinforce that if he misbehaves he gets his way. But he DID get to end on a good note. Way to go!
The fact you apologized to him for laughing. It's so cute. Hope you both got lots of treats after this. He fought you but you know he felt better after this.
Same! I giggled a few times at the ridiculousness of it. Someone in another room would have thought she was abusing him 😩😂😂. I'm glad she powered through and helped Mr.Grumpy pants out.
As someone who owned a Pequinese for 17 years (from 6yos to my 20's) spicy is a very good description of how they are ALTHOUGH my lil baby never in his 17 years of life tried to attack a human I did have several groomers tell me that it was incredible how well behave he was ESPECIALLY for a Pequinese, and he even had some incompetent groomers who nicked him along the way that we ditched but he never complained, I'll forever miss my bestest boy seeing a Pequinese anywhere always brings back the memories. ♡
I grew up with 2 Pekingese dogs. One was the same color as this pup - her name was Susie and she was sweet….and the other had dark fur, he was a snapping turtle named Bubbles and mean. He bit a little kid’s face really bad. And he once got out of the house and we found him in the yard with an eye that popped out madly wagging his tail. He lost that eye and the vet had to sew his eye socket shut. It was such a traumatic experience for us little kids (I was 6, brother was 5).
No matter how bad he was he's still so dang cute with all of that sass.😂❤Bless you for getting that done darlin, he is going to feel so much better now.❤
He looked like the grumpiest old man!😂 I could see him chasing kids off his lawn. Poor little dude though. I’m sure he was so uncomfortable and miserable before. It may not have been the prettiest groom ever but it does seem like he is happier and more comfortable. You are an amazing person!❤
He's like a furiously swearing Ewok. It's wonderful that you were able to take care of a dog in need; I'm sure he's feeling much better now, even if he has no idea who to thank for it.
@@DeidresStuff A good friend of the family had a Pekingese(1 of 3) who was mostly black with specks of white and I used to call her "My Little Ewok" because her facial features looked just like one. All she needed was the little outfit and the spear because with she literally looked like a four-legged Ewok.😂 With her other sisters, I call the biggest, auburn colored one "My Little Saint Bernard" because her jowl is a little droopy so she looks just like a mini Saint Bernard, and the other one I called My Little Pug because her face looked just like a Pug. Saint Bernard Pekingese is sweet--but at times she might have the personality of the dog in the video.😂 Only My Little Saint Bernard is left now. I miss my other 2 babies so much! They were so sweet and affectionate.😢 I loved and took care of them as if they were my own dogs.
My Rocky (my tuxedo cat ❤️) had really curved claws. I had to check him weekly or they'd grow right into his paw pads. He was really good about it, he'd sit quietly in my lap and boom, done! Our little Saturday afternoon cuddle time. 🥰
Supposedly the short height misnomer was due to the difference in French measurements vs English measurements at the time of napoleon. 5’2” French measurement was equal to approximately 5’6” English.
I appreciate how intrigued he was with every single grooming implement you brought to his face, just utterly fascinated by all the murder you were trying to do to him
In a lot of situations, fear comes from the unknown. The best way to make the little guy less scared is by letting him figure out the brush is not a live monster trying to murder him lol
For this little guys sake.. I'm glad he had you as his groomer. You treated him with kindness and respect and also kept yourself safe. He is lucky to have you.
Agreed! Even the little guy seemed to understand this. He looked like he was about to kiss you there at the end, Vanessa! My little guy is only 40% Pekingese, and does have a short snout (thank goodness), but he is a little guard lion and since we 😂rescued him at 6, he was set that he did not like brushing, combing, or grooming before we got him. It is a fight. I am trying a hammock for foot care now.
Whole way through, all I could think about was how uncomfortable this poor gremlin dog was. Your skill and kindness really shine through here. Fantastic job!
My dog acts the same because she was abused at a petsmart grooming salon when she was a puppy. Our previous groomer refused to groom her without sedation because she was so aggressive, but we've found another groomer that my dog is significantly less aggressive with and she can do *everything* without sedation. Shes a miracle worker and my dog even lets her hold her!! People like you really make a difference for people who have dogs like this.
I doubt she is aggressive because of one petsmart grooming. The issues start with the owners. Watch “it’s me or the dog” you’re probably enabling the behavior. Even old dogs can change.. try enacting new training.
@ELLE I had a similar experience at petsmart when my little one was splashed in the face as a puppy. It's not really fair to say that it's the owner's fault inherently when there are so many people who are ill-equipped to handle any kind of dog.
@@echoingelle No, Petsmart has been sued numerous times for their groomers' negligence. Several dogs have even died when left alone and they fell off the table with the cord around their necks. As for one time not making a difference? Are you kidding? A traumatic experience only has to be one time in order to create PTSD in people or pets.
I admire your bravery, but I'm most impressed by how skillfully you're able to read a dog's behavior! You know exactly when to be persistent and when to stop. It's really neat to watch.😊
Slow clap for the breeders. They've successfully managed to produce a dog that's impossible to muzzle, so it's also impossible for anyone to get the gunk out of their wrinkled faces without being bitten. Poor thing, it's no wonder his warning signals are reversed :(
@@Jen39x - oh, I know. Looking at historical pictures and descriptions, they always had a somewhat-flattened snout, but nothing like Louie here - on a dog his size, the snout would extend a couple of inches past the vertical plane of his eyes. The proportions would be similar to an apple-head Chihuahua but scaled up, if you see what I mean.
Exactly what I was thinking right at the beginning of the video. I also don't understand the wired obsession with flat faced dogs and cats. They are really suffering physically from it. Just listen to them breathing...
@@Jen39x There's photos and paintings of many currently brachycephalic dogs, along with other deformed dog breeds (bull terrier), and it's like night and day. The AKC/KC should straight up be abolished at this point, all it is is enabling people to breed horribly disfigured animals because of the "look". That said there are folks who are back-breeding to a healthy state. Retro pugs and Olde English Bulldogges come to mind.
I have a female Pekingese that is the same color as this guy, but that is where the similarities end (which I am glad of). She is a sweet, easy-going dog and has never, to my knowledge, tried to bite anyone. I take her for grooming every couple of months and her groomer says she is the best dog ever. You have so much patience with these pups.
My mom had one of these name Nikki, nicknamed Hoover because he'd walk around with his little face pressed to the floor, looking for bits of whatever he wasn't supposed to eat.
I felt sorry for both groomer and dog in this one. I can't imagine how stressful this was to try and groom such an aggressive dog, especially when having a muzzle be used wasn't an option. I felt sorry for the dog because you know he had to feel so uncomfortable with those mattes and long nails. Plus the fear and stress of being groomed. Amazing job in the end. ♥️

🇬🇧Vanessa that is a brilliant video which I’ve seemed to have missed watching, although it’s been out over a year! As usual your expertise, skill and analysing the doggy body language whilst grooming is totally astounding, mixed with your lovely dry sense of humour is just wonderful! 🐶💕
I'm a licensed Search and Rescue dog trainer and about 2 years ago. When I got my Caucasian Shepherd at 10 weeks old he was attacked. By my VERY crazy ex-girlfriend's Pekingese. She blamed my puppy and me for the attack. Her dog only had one little puncture in its ear. As for mine, I had to race him to the Animal Emergency Clinic. After three and a half hours he was deemed stable. We broke up; now my dog and I live in a different state.
My husband and I adopted an extremely neglected pekingese a couple years that was grumpy like this guy. I eventually had to just groom her myself so no one else could be exposed to her grumpiness.😬 You are a saint for taking care of this grumpy little guy.
I think every pet owner have to learn the basic grooming for their pets. Because who knows, maybe suddenly we can afford to take them to the groomer for one reason or another. But taking care of our pets is not only giving them food. Things like hygiene and exercise are important for those animals.
@@etcetraetcetra3173 i honestly had no idea so many people completely relied on groomers. I've always taken care of my pet's grooming myself. It's like people look at it like vet care they can't do themselves
@@etcetraetcetra3173 that is so true. Like, sure lets leave it to the groomers when its time for a haircut but as owners, people should atleast know how to brush their dog, cut their nails, remove the gunk off of their faces, and give normal baths in between grooming appointments.
Great job! There is that part of me that feels bad for the little snot. But, his family will appreciate what you've done! You are a godsend for so many! Keep up the good work.
Very impressive! Hats off to you for how creatively you delt with him. He really put you through the ringer. He looked so nice at the end, I couldn't believe how much you were able to get done!🌠⭐️
As a groomer, I felt every bit of that groom. Aggressive dogs are the hardest, and I've been bitten plenty. We had a Pekingese that was the most zen dog I've seen. He didn't care what you did to him. I miss him.
We had one who would draw a crowd of onlookers because he was so chill he would let you lay him on his back and doze off while you did his underside. His owners said he would go downstairs at the early hours of the morning and lay like that to watch the news like a little old man
He reminds me of my mom's pekingese. He's on several "Do not groom" lists due to his temperament. My mom trained him the best she could, worked with professionals and did her best but it's both a breed thing and the fact that he's a rescue from two abusive homes. They're jerks but you can't help but love them
My sisters Chawawa was a jerk like this but was nice to only her. But what I respected about her was that if you left her alone, she left you alone lol She wasn't yappy lol
@@WhirlwindandHeatburst i've been working for years with my one peke and he's as bad as ever... seems like sometimes he's getting worse. i do a lot of what the groomer does but i don't have a way to tether him other than step on his leash. he's never bitten me but he screams and snaps . i have to bribe him to stay still to get eyedrops.
I genuinely feel sorry for the little guy. His anxiety was through the roof, coming through as a aggression. Add in the pain of the matting and overgrown nails, and he was an emotional mess. Once the pain was gone, he seemed to be less stressed. Same with being able to breathe & see. You mentioned that it was a good thing he wasn't a bigger dog. Had a bigger dog shown that level of aggression, it probably wouldn't have survived as long as he has. Small dogs often are allowed more leeway in their behavior than a large dog would be. A husky or shepherd lashing out that way would be capable of serious injury in a way he can't quite manage!
UH HUH. This is a thing a lot of people who say they "dislike small dogs" or talk about how grumpy Chihuahuas are often miss! (And it's often a vicious cycle since most are more willing to ignore/annoy a smaller dog for the same reason)
At least with huskies as far as i can tell from watching this channel all they really do is make you go deaf with their incessant dramatic screaming as if you're literally killing them lol.
Umm no it's a pekingese these dogs were only allowed to be owned by the king of china After Britain invaded and burned the palace they stole the pekingese dogs They are supposed to he like this pekingese dogs are dumb as rocks and they act like spoiled brats, and most of some sort of downs syndrome from generations of inbreeding and have crippling health problems their existence is literally suffering
Nothing against other dog groomers on UA-cam, but seeing the way Vanessa deals with a very aggressive dog makes me appreciate what a gifted groomer she is. Next level.
@@user-vu1rt6fd5s Care to explain? As far as I could tell she was doing her best to help him. You can't just leave a dog with long nails and mats in its fur, because it will only hurt it more later if it isn't taken care of. It's not aggressive to try and keep a dog clean and healthy.

So many praising her...yes, she is pretty good but....courage to deal with a dog's fear is only measured within the groomer. After finding this video, I realized my dog was not one of a kind as far as his lack of sentiment towards being groomed. Thank you for showing dogs and their breeds in this perspective! I tried to have him groomed by a professional groomer. My dog resisted being groomed so badly, I decided to just pay the groomer for having wasted a failed session. After that, I groomed him myself all the time. (Only the vet was ever able to clip my dog’s nails, after I asked very nicely) I had a Pekingese for 9 years, he is now resting in peace, having passed earlier this year. He was about 2 y/o when I rescued him in 2013. He was my first dog. I do miss him very much, and I would definitely love another Peke…even with all the drama that they have, there is all that more delight they share!
This was an incredible groom. You handled it perfectly. I appreciate that you didn't get angry or stern with the dog, and even praised him when he was being good.
This is some serious skill on display here, not just in grooming, but handling a highly stressed, EXTREMELY apprehensive wee doggo. Louis was in good hands, and by the end of the session, even he knew it.
Once again, your ability to read the animal, and still work with him, is incredible. Yes, he had to be restrained, but he wasn't being chocked or pulled uncomfortably. He even seemed to calm a bit once most of his mats were gone. Kudos to you for keeping your calmness and energy on a quiet level so he didn'tbecome a nonstop whirling dervish.
Man, I am so glad the pekingese I had to groom was so much better behaved. He was my grandma's and it was my job to shave him in summer. He was badly-trained, but thankfully had an overall sweet nature, so I was able to bathe him in the kitchen sink and take him outside into the backyard to shave him. After 3 hours, he'd come back into the house looking less like a mop and more like a teddy bear. As soon as I set him down on the floor, he'd take a running start across the linoleum then flop down, paws by his side, and slide across the the floor like a seal. He'd just lay there on the floor for a few minutes, wagging his tail. I think he really liked getting a haircut because he felt so much cooler afterward.
It's amazing to see all the fur babies going in that no one will be bothered to " deal" with them , you do your magic and even though I've seen them in the worst possible shape, you make them look so Beautiful ❤️. I know those Owners appreciate the help you give to them and their Babies ❤❤
All those sudden movements from him snapping and you didn't injur him or yourself with the tools! Incredible. What a difficult job but the owners will definately appreciate it. I hope things look up for them soon.
I can't imagine how good he must physically feel after this groom! Like he must feel happy to see properly/walk and the matting being gone... despite how miserable he is
He seems like a nice dog when his face isn’t being messed with. Poor guy was definitely in pain with those nails throughout the day, plus how hard it is for him to breathe, I’m thankful there are kind souls out there willing to groom and be patient with dogs like this, cause it gives their owners hope that their loved dog no matter how mean they can get will get the grooming the dog deserves.
His face, or his feet, or his stomach, or his shoulders, or his back, or just really anywhere near him at all. Dogs need more than to be "loved" and very occasionally groomed.

Yeah, he was a whole handfull, but that tailwag when he was being praised after you shaved matting from his ears still melted my heart. The hardest part of this for me was watching him struggle breathing, and knowing there are SO many more out there just like him just because some people find their smushed faces 'cute'.
I feel so bad, because you can hear him wheezing at times, like someone with a severe cold, and I know what that feels like. I saw a post where people in Europe (I think) who were breeding Pugs to have longer muzzles, and honestly I hope it all goes well, and all dogs and cats with harmful breed traits are bred to get rid of those traits, so all breeds can live comfortable, healthy lives like they all deserve.
I fully support outbreeding. No animal deserves to live in pain because of calculated mutations that make them 'cute'. From curled ears to smushed muzzles to munchkins to daschunds--I'm glad the public focus is shifting towards breeding the poor things OUT of their inherited suffering!
@@albaderosa6550 If you meant me--no, I don't support harmful breeding. Outbreeding = breeding animals away from traits that harm them. For example, pug noses make it difficult for them to live comfortably. You can selectively breed them to give them longer muzzles (so they still look like a pug but don't suffer from it). Look for pugs of the past compared to those of now, it's interesting!
Right I totally think people who breed these flat nosed dogs should be fined if not jailed..frenchies, pugs, etc. Brachycephalic dogs who truly suffer every day of their life!! Smh!!!
I have watched quite a few of your videos and I love the commentary and how you care about the animals so much, never change. especially when you talk about the murder mittens I laugh so much
I think the sounds in your studio scare the dogs. The banging on the aluminum tub and then the echoing. Too bad he didn't want the Hoodie on. You did amazing.
Right around 13:50 when the cone comes off, you can see where he just felt so much better from what she'd done so far. The fact that he didn't even growl while she finished behind his ears is more than worth the build up to it. Plus he inspected everything to the last sniff before it touched him, thats a brilliantly simple way to get into a routine and build some trust.
I let anxious pets sniff everything I'm going to put on their bodies as well... it doesn't always help because I'm a vet so some of the things I do will always be scary to them, but still a good habit to have.
@@seanmoyer7589 You're underestimating her skills and an animal's mind in general, that dog would have kept growling at LEAST lol Building a tiny bit of trust is a huge thing
Actually, at that point, he went into freeze mode of fight or flight. He’s not gonna growl in freeze mode. There is so many aspects to a dog being afraid or three sections fight, flight or freeze then after constant fear it becomes learned helplessness. What that dog is feeling is not relief it’s terror.
Towards the end it seems he trusted you. After all the grooming you did on him, he realized it didn't hurt him and he was okay. You know your animals. This is the only way I figured you survived it. I wouldn't call this dog spicy, I would call him extra spicy.
i really admire people engaging in job-related to dogs who love dogs. Even there are vets who don't care about dogs but only for money. u are so gentle with them. luv ur videos
It occurs to me that no matter how badly they are hurting from the mats, and how poor their previous grooming experiences might have been, they realize that they DO feel better afterward. Thank you so much for being so patient with these spicy critters! I don't think it's totally their fault that they're so intolerant of being clippered and groomed. This poor little dude's face must have been so sore from the yeast & bacterial growth on his skin.

I'm a dog groomer also & I usually say when they scream in the bath like that it's cuz I'm bathing them in battery acid & razor blades 😂... it's actually warm water & tear free shampoo but try telling the doggo that😅
@@wat5713 If my dog was an asshole, I'd figure out how to groom my dog myself instead of putting it on other people.
I think with all the problems it was pretty understandable. He got a bit calmer at the end when it wasn't hurting him anymore.
Vanessa seems caring but not every groomer is*
I rambled on, sorry about that but its truly a matter of fact. Some dogs just CANT be taken to the groomers. There are steps to make it seem more bearable for the dog.. but, not all methods work.

I had a tibetan spaniel that fits that description as well.
Bless you for calling him a good boy all the way through the grooming because he was anything but!
False compliment to butter up better behaviour!
She was absolutely wonderful with little Louie. And maybe calling him a good boy this time and being so kind with him will make his next grooming experience better. Or at least one can hope
He's just another example for breeds that we can breed but shouldn't. The gasping for air right at the start of the groom breaks my heart.
Definitely. I've had a pekingese and luckily she didn't have that smushed a face but she still had breathing issues. At least hers were mostly limited to snoring and having occassional panic attacks when it was humid out causing her nose to clog up, but this is just pure evil. Poor guy
Hate how humans felt the need to make their faces like this….there was no need for it. I always feel so bad cause they clearly struggle to breath
@@nicolaxoxo1 Same! My Pekingese is 6 years old and completely healthy. I guess it just depends on the breeder and it’s own parents health

That's a good point they must be in constant panic due to their breathing
He’s like an old man who’s grumpy bc he’s not feeling well. Yes, I know some 😊
I really admire the breeders who are working to restore certain breeds to a more functional animal.
Furry snapping turtle! I love it. ❤️
Even as a vet tech with multiple years of experience that first little snap made me jump - aggressive little dude
i don't know if there are awards for bravery in dog grooming but you deserve one.

Its sad how some dog breeders create these poor creatures whose lives are filled with constant sickness just for looks..
You can see why it’s so angry

They want to ban short nosed dogs like the one in this video in my country because of all the breathing problems and other health problems

One of the best video. I laughed so hard from his noises. My ex had one and he trained him so well. He made all these noises....we loved him 😘😘
This was an incredible groom. You handled it perfectly. I appreciate that you didn't get angry or stern with the dog, and even praised him when he was being good.
His little face at the end when she told him what a bad boy he was had me in stitches. So cute and so MEAN.
This is some serious skill on display here, not just in grooming, but handling a highly stressed, EXTREMELY apprehensive wee doggo. Louis was in good hands, and by the end of the session, even he knew it.
He sounds like a angry goblin planning revenge 🤣
The damage to his dignity is really making him mad.
That's VERY cute
Hair and Matt's get heavy that pulls on the skin
It's amazing to see all the fur babies going in that no one will be bothered to " deal" with them , you do your magic and even though I've seen them in the worst possible shape, you make them look so Beautiful ❤️. I know those Owners appreciate the help you give to them and their Babies ❤❤
All those sudden movements from him snapping and you didn't injur him or yourself with the tools! Incredible. What a difficult job but the owners will definately appreciate it. I hope things look up for them soon.
Immense gremlin vibes 😆
EDIT: oh bless him, he's a grumpy gremlin for very valid reasons. poor buddy. :( you did such a wonderful job with him!
You have the patience of a saint. You are incredible!
Vanessa has the patience of an absolute saint - this women is in a whole other dimension of tolerance holy crap 👏🏽👏🏽
I can't imagine how good he must physically feel after this groom! Like he must feel happy to see properly/walk and the matting being gone... despite how miserable he is
He was just unsure, not mean
He seems like a nice dog when his face isn’t being messed with. Poor guy was definitely in pain with those nails throughout the day, plus how hard it is for him to breathe, I’m thankful there are kind souls out there willing to groom and be patient with dogs like this, cause it gives their owners hope that their loved dog no matter how mean they can get will get the grooming the dog deserves.
His face, or his feet, or his stomach, or his shoulders, or his back, or just really anywhere near him at all. Dogs need more than to be "loved" and very occasionally groomed.
@@mydogeatspuke well some dogs just don’t liked being touched too much I had a chihuahua who was like that
@@ShinyUmbreon106 I never said they didn't
You're a very patient young lady. ❤
I'm looking at his angelic face, and hearing you describe him as the most aggressive dog ever. The math ain't mathin 😂
This woman deserves a medal.
She should have no, the stress for this animal is torture. It isn't a matter of him "just being annoyed". He needs to be sedated.
@@conniebruinsma5681 You know she did the entire grooming for free just to help the family out. They cannot afford a sedation, so what would you like them do? Nothing?! That was the best they could do, and she did a fine job, trying to do it as quick and comfortable for him while being save for her. You should not criticize her for something she has no influence over, especially when she is doing the entire thing for free!
Why people keep mentioning.....sedation!! for grooming, surely anaesthesia should only be used in an emergency! (Just saying)
@@conniebruinsma5681 i wouldn't trust this crazy lady for shit if she was a groomer, she probably be one of them groomers that abuses dogs, it's her decision not urs "you are annoying"
$kyDiZkxD
It almost - almost - seemed like he was starting to realise you were making it feel better at the end there, when you were getting the mats behind his ears. The poor lad must have been so uncomfortable.
Yes, he did seem to relax toward the end.
Either he was realizing that she was helping, or he'd just worn himself out after redlining his rage motor the whole time :D
This is perhaps my favourite UA-cam video - thanks for posting it.
That snort at the end aid it all!
I've never known of a groomer that's willing to deal with a bad tempered pet without sedation, and you just did with this violence choosing gremlin/ pekingese. Your patience, skill and ability to lower your energy in order to deal with these spicy animals it's scary and amazing. You're a standard to follow and your channel should be recognized as an educational tool to future groomers & pet care professionals.
FACTS 💯 SHE'S THE BEST!
I concur wholeheartedly!
Yup!
Vanessa: That's a good boy.
Louie: Die, Die, Die impudent human!
and she did this groom for free on top of all of that, to help out the dog's family who couldn't afford it!
Sostieni l'ibridazione? ? Spero che sei stato tradotto male....... Ogni animale ha diritto di vivete come loha fatto Madre Natura
Pretty sure its just too tired from lack of air and fighting for probably and hour plus
@@seanmoyer7589 You're underestimating her skills and an animal's mind in general, that dog would have kept growling at LEAST lol
Building a tiny bit of trust is a huge thing
Actually, at that point, he went into freeze mode of fight or flight. He’s not gonna growl in freeze mode. There is so many aspects to a dog being afraid or three sections fight, flight or freeze then after constant fear it becomes learned helplessness. What that dog is feeling is not relief it’s terror.
@@ceri678 Oh yeah I definitely agree. I'm not a vet but I've always done that with my dog and tortoise. Gets them comfortable with things.
Towards the end it seems he trusted you. After all the grooming you did on him, he realized it didn't hurt him and he was okay. You know your animals. This is the only way I figured you survived it. I wouldn't call this dog spicy, I would call him extra spicy.
He's not just extra spicy- he's a whole Carolina Reaper pepper (hottest in the world) with habañero ghost pepper salsa on the side 🌶🔥
Was probably less about trust and more about him wearing himself out and essentially giving up.
@@MagicSpaceWolf3983 Yes, I think you have it right! : )
The care you provide... Loving yet firm. Heartwarming to watch. Thank you.
i really admire people engaging in job-related to dogs who love dogs. Even there are vets who don't care about dogs but only for money. u are so gentle with them. luv ur videos
His face when she said, “And he is a very SPICY Pekingese,” was priceless 😂😂😂 Like, “What did she call me??!”
Wow.. you are so calm and gentle. you are very gifted.
Biting no workie must start SCREAMIN
