Have both. Like both. Got gen 4 high end trek rail and gen 5 high end Trek Slash. Both are high end bikes in their respective category. I love both bikes, but for me Ebike all day. Its better in everything except for straight up jumping and maybe worse in some trails. One thing is that after riding Ebike a while your perception is kinda screwed at neurological level. Your bike on powerful motor like say my bosch Cx accelerates so fast from standstill at so littile effort that after a while your brain in screwed and adapted to that speed. So when you go back to manual bike. Its almost like you get feeling that your bike has breaks mashed at all time and that your pedaling is very tough and you are weak. In reality all that is your perception is adapted to the motor so your brain visually expects serious speed with little effort, which manual bike does not give you. So in a sense you loose the fun part because you want the same acceleration. On Ebikes you do alot of agressive stops and accelerations, speeding up from corners and dead stomps lifiting front wheel wheel while accelerating. All this agressive accelerations give you a satisfying vibe. You automatically want to experience that on manual bike, but its not possible because your legs cant give that kind of power. So it becomes less fun. However what is still more fun with manual. Is going downhill. My rail at XL size is about 24 kg. My Slash at XL is about 14 kg. You feel the massive weight difference is corners, jumps and maneuvering. I believe there is a room for both. I wanted to sell my Slash at first, then started riding it a bit more and i started to have fun on it again. Its like having a Buggati and a Ford Mustang. One is def faster than the other, but you can have different type of fun on both.
