  • We often speak about finding a good flute "posture" but this implies a fixed position rather than a balanced free state. I team up with Vanessa Breault Mulvey, Boston based flutist, teacher and movement expert at the New England Conservatory and Longy School of Music, in order to find out how to find balance in your flute playing! She is not only one of the coolest people I have had the pleasure of meeting but also has so much insight.

Thank you for the video, It makes a Lot of Sense. Also I feel a strange little pain in this central point of the Head and my wife Said It Hurts too, is It some kind of weak point?

Hmm...That is interesting. There may be some nerves running over that point and when pushed it hurts. I will forward the question to Vanessa, perhaps she has an idea!

Trying to be the clown all the time gets a bit dull and comes across as really immature. If you only had the courage to be still for a moment might give you a chance to come up with a sound that speaks for a change. And yes heads up to body mapping. Check out Lea Pearson.

I’m sorry you feel that way. Lea is wonderful. I know her personally and absolutely love her books, articles and other resources.
