- The first known prototype of the Model 437, developed by Northrop Grumman's subsidiary Scaled Composites, has successfully taken flight. Initially conceptualized as an advanced "loyal wingman" air combat drone, this design has been in development since at least 2021. However, the recent emergence of this prototype, equipped with a cockpit, adds an intriguing twist. #fighterjet #aircarft #wingman #drone
Northrup Grumman always builds some of the most radically beautiful jets in the world, e.g. the YF-23 Blackwidow II, the B-2 Spirit, the X-29, and of course,... The F-14 Tomcat.
let's not forget the B-21 Raider.
@@ryanc00p3r3 - I left the B-21 Raider out as I was referring only to physical appearance, of which I feel the B-21 was basically covered by the B-2.
The Tomcat was the greatest piece of machinery ever produced; it can be considered nothing short of an absolute masterpiece.
Looks like a low cost stealth aircraft looking for customers.
R&D, experimentation in manufacturing, construction delivery reduction, digital design experimentation…etc. If you get into a war you will need to maintain high tech, experienced manufacturers and manufacturing facilities to continue to build and replace lost weapons during wartime and in peacetime. “If you want peace, prepare for war”. Also prepares the manufacturer to be prepared for the RFP that comes out in terms of competitive advantage.
Looks promising but some things look unfinished so you're right its an early prototype.
More than good looking aircraft

It is this mentality that leads to building expensive and ineffective things in the West
It's starting to look like all future aircraft will come in manned and unmanned variants.
Что мешает сделать пеилотируемые и беспелотные одновгеменно, в одном изделии?
3000 mile range, Wow. Looks like it's suited for recon. Small also makes for stealthy.
This might be the way to accomplish raid lower cost iterative design. Test as a drone, then enhance as necessary for a human pilot.
I believe the human pilot is just to allow easier testing, as noted in the video. There is no possible reason to have a manned capacity in a craft like this.
sounds true but sad...@@brianboye8025
Front looks like Bird of Prey
Exactly!
OV10 Bronco replacement aircraft to contain missile jamming suite and site painting to allow advanced fighters to destroy enemy missile sites.
i always thought that drone would be a cool manned craft
This was always going to happen. The merging of unmanned drones and cockpit piloted military aircraft creates the opportunity for new tactics, additional resource deployment options, even force multiplier benefits. Opponent forces won't know if they are facing drones or piloted aircraft.
Looks like a light fighter to me. 3000m range is insane. Rear looks a little like the YF-23.
They said it lives on in other aircraft!
Ukrainians are pushing ACE-1 drone but has a higher thrust to this model 437 the British, French and Ukrainians going forward. Just yesterday Ukraine used it's 1000Km ballistic missile doing a lot of damage in Russia.
RQ9
I always looked at that and said, upsize it and you’ve got a very affordable, stealth, piloted aircraft.
No surprise that someone had the same thought, with turning a drone into a manned aircraft.
Air intake looks like that of the F-107 Ultra Sabre!
Don't throw it away unless it's totally useless! Like the B2 Spirit idea lingered long enough to be viable.
The design of engine mounted on fuselage is like heinkel he 162 but stealthy
That’s the same thought i had lol it looks like a stealth he162
Yep
This is the next-generation stealth technology demonstrator. It will be used to test new stealth technologies for drones.
Interesting, usually you expect to see manned aircraft modified to be unmanned not the other way around.
Adding SVTOL and a red paint job makes it the perfect private aircraft
Speeeed.... Loks like 🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌🐌
done so for programming for the drone.. they should also do a two seater (trainer).
very interesting concept 👍 light - stelth - long range drone - with onboard pilot option
Fantastic way to extract Agents from the field.
What an interesting aircraft & suite of technologies that could do for military aircraft what Burt Rutans ideas have done for light commercial aircraft.
I’m also really struck with the similarity of look and layout to the German WWII Heinkel He 162 Volksjäge
Particularly a He-162 C.
Northrop Grumman *loses F35 joint strike fighter program*
US Military: You just focus on stealth bomber, stealth fighters belongs to Lockheed Martin
Northrop Grumman: oh... nah we ain't making stealth fighters anymore, we're just making a stealth wingman drone that happens to requires a pilot with strike fighter capabilities. Would you be interested?
Did you know that Northrop Gruman produces the aircraft's center fuselage, AN/APG-81 AESA radar, communications subsystems and provides sustainment support for the EODAS. for the F-35?
Just build NGAD
Talking in circles, repeating so many phrases with an robotic automated voice….
Looks more like someone needs a nutrition and exercise program at Grumman.
i have my own design being drawn on a calendar..
It looks like a trainer...
Yes!
Scaled Composites, wasnt this Burt Rutans business in the past? Laurie. NZ. 😊
So… it goes from non pressurised drone to pressurised jet and there’s 1% changes?
Cool. Can it bite? Seems like a really light fighter.
So this is basically ripped from the TWZ article on this plane?
Any ideas when you will be accepting deposits? How about trade-ins?
My 152 is a bit long in the tooth and this will be a nice upgrade. "0_o"
What we need are 10k's of cheap drones like Ukraine uses
Looks like the being quiet bird... With a bit of bird of prey
It’s not the ugliest prototype, Boeing has that with the X-35.
If a company wants to be truly successful selling fighter / attack or any kind of aircraft they really should figure out how to achieve the performance they want while at the same time making an appealing looking aircraft. It can be a good ugly like the A-10, the wicked mean look of the F-4, or the gorgeous lines of the F-15. The point is the US seems to have engineers that have lost the art of making truly inspiring looking aircraft. For example. Look at the T-38 vs the new T-7. The T-38 is gorgeous in the air and on the ground. It performance and service to many nations has been exceptional. The T-7’s canopy, fuselage forward of the windscreen seems stunted.. almost cartoonish. It’s not terrible but sigh just a little care on the looks side, the T-7 could have been amazing as both a trainer and affordable fighter attack platform.
One more example, F-16. This small fighter has turned head a from the day it rolled out with its YF-16 red white and blue paint. It generates a visceral response that quickly turns to intellectual awe at its aggressive looks and jaw dropping performance. Now compare the F-16 or F-15 to the F-35 or F-22. They just look better, even though the F-35 and F-22 are not horrible by any means. It’s just the designers focused solely on capabilities, which is fine… I get it. But since these aircraft are so expensive and we keep them for 40-50 years… why not have an internal competition among the engineering teams to not only achieve the performance but do so in a genuinely beautiful to the eye design.
Good for training
looks like the bid of prey
LOL. That’s quite a pun, if that’s what you intended. Bravo.
What's it top speed?
Mach .8 or 615 mph/987 kph.
On Sandboxx's channel.
it looks like the bird of prey concept. many years ago
“Well, we decided it does need a pilot after all.” 😅🤷♂️ - Northrop Grumman
Where is the fun in a pilotless aircraft?
What's the advantage of being manned over the unmanned version? Why would one buy it over the unmanned?
Still wondering why the tail planes are so big?
I want to know what weapons can be strapped to it
Given the drone/autonomous background of the design, is the pilot considered an "observer"?
Is this a drone or fighter jet ? please tell me what the difference is if you are putting the man in it.
Son of F-16. Brilliant.
I want one
im prety sure this is just a prototype looking for funding.
How about a prototype being developed by a significant defense company? Too simple? Scaled Composites has been doing this since Burt Rutan formed them. They are now part of NG.
What a revolutionnary design, the new He162 Salamander 🙂
We think alike. Good point. I would say an He-162 C.
It looks like Karp won't be doing business with Putin's Russia. He must feel terrible (wink).
Did not state speed for manned aircraft!
However, Sandbox did and it's around mach .8 or 615 mph. (987 kph)
The cruising speed of an F-35A.
How many times did you show the same clip? Over and over and over and over..
Low cost stealth ?
A recon and observer with that range.
ultra tucano
Why? To reduce payload?
Can you export to south Africa
Do you listen to your AI narrator before you publish? Obviously not. I unsubscribed from other channels for being so unprofessional. Do better, please.
The bulk look of the Vee tail kills everything. It makes the plane look so clumsy.
So the yf23 was clumsy?
Unmanned didnt pan out huh?😅
Mentalidad de viejo, los drones deben ser pequeños y no esa bestia
Stealthy for whom? who’s flying this thing and why do they need stealth?
I don't get it, what this function for. It is useless, it can't carried heavy missile, can not doing jet fighter manuveur, not even can be a kamikaze drone, not even suitable for be spy plane, it only suitable for training exercise plane.
Range is an issue today and cost. The NGAD fighter won't outmaneuver the F-22 because range and payload are more qualifying factors for the next aircraft.
Of course they will do this. It saves them money and maximizes profit to develop this in addition to the drone. Sunk cost and good business practice to diversify products at cheapest cost.
The Chinese military was scared to tears
Drone interceptor.
Yeah War! Yah Tax Dollars!
CIA Jet
Ok folks, proof of concept, hence the cockpit. That's what Scaled does best. Also, smaller than the real deal will be.
Low cost images lol
this is the music Zelenskyy listened to when he ordered Kursk. Then every one died. Hilary cackle
So they can take a drone and do this with it but the the program to get a replacement jet trainer for the T-38 grinds on and on and on.... Ahhh the wonderful MIC doing its best to exploit more money out of the taxpayer.
Quiet the engine noise a little bit more and this would make an acceptable, CREWED, stealthy CAS recon and light attack platform.
Hey start cranking out a stripped 'drone' version and give them to Ukraine....they'll put it through a rigorous training program for ya !!
I swear, show me that file footage ONE MORE TIME, and I'll...I'll.....Dislike you!
Fat girl little jet will it get off the ground?
Structually inefficent and ugly.
I buy that for a dollar!
What's with those huge rectangular tail surfaces?
they're called vertical stabilizers
My guess is they help increase payload capability in spite of the really short, highly tapered, high aspect ratio main wing by increasing overall wing area AND allowing better control with a more efficient, aft CG.
รูปแบบไม่ล่ำยุก
Look like stealth Sprayer plane😂
I could see some very old programs of the 1980's to 1990's from Northrop Tacit Blue to Boeing Bird of Prey. I see Lockheed Martin stealth fuseloge... A hogpogs of young engineers fighting against the ANTI digital design old farts of aerospace....Pretty soon we will be casted out like every generation before... Growing old sucks huh.
zelensky escape vehicle.
Take a highly maneuverable airframe capable of autonomous flight and change it to rely on a slow, 180 pound bag of water that will split open at 4 x gravity.
Crap
This thing looks: cheap, haha
Why on earth would you put a man in a stealth aircraft. It defeats the whole purpose of the drone. Stupid people trying to make a buck.
Not going to find a single person that can spend 30 plus hours in the air. Plus now you have another person in harms way.
It looks like a step Back from the futuristic bird of prey ... which is alreqdy +/_18 years old
I want one....
koi nhi milega
