All Things Are Working Together For Your Good

  • In this video, author and mental health educator Douglas Bloch shares a very important spiritual principle--what when we are on the spiritual path, all of our experiences, even the negative ones, end up working working for our highest and greatest good.
I use my personal life to illustrate this principle. The original date for my hip replacement surgery was unexpectedly canceled at the last minute and rescheduled a month later. I was absolutely grief stricken, but this delay led me to encounter many healing opportunities over the next four weeks that would not have occurred otherwise. Something greater than myself was looking out for me.

I am facing the greatest challenge in my life at present and in the coming weeks. I suffer from anxiety and depression and other ailments and it has me literally climbing the walls looking for a way out. Unfortunately there is no way out and I will just have to go through the process. This video offers me some hope. Wish me well and bless you for your kindness.

Look for Doug on UA-cam on Sunday 1 pm mountain pacific time for live streaming. He takes one Sunday off, forget which week. It’s a real positive community. He also has a site on the internet, can’t remember the title. Very sorry to hear that your going through so much right now. Tomorrow I won’t follow Doug because we are getting a puppy at that time. Doug has so many absolutely fantastic UA-cam videos on mental health, so grateful you found him. Please take care of yourself ❤️

Yes, and when one area of your life isn't going well don't minimize other areas that are going well. For instance my career not going well doesn't mean that I can't be good husband, father etc or not enjoy upcoming holiday because one iof one area of my life is not going well. Hard to do at the time, but wise perspective
    when we realize this.

Douglas, keep shining the light that is within you. God has blessed you this ministry.

That is the verse I based this entire video on, but I didn't want to quote it directly because some people are sensitive about biblical references. But it's one of my favorite quotes in the Bible.

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. I learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets:

Hi , this is Lisa from Canada. Am very excited today because tomorrow at 1pm we are getting a puppy, a Lassie, rough Collie. A whole stream of events that I hope work in our favour. I hope it’s a good decision, it’s a huge commitment. So nice to see you here, it’s like meeting an old friend out of the blue. For some reason I can’t chat on these UA-cam comments if a person wants to have a conversation with me. So am sorry we can’t chat, like I want to. Be well, peace be with you. ❤️❤️❤️

Sitting here and listening to what you went through, and how you had a friend Alert you to the benefits of the barriers that came up just before surgery,I am pausing to appreciate this time of my life to Not have to rush about madly as when my children were young, and take care of other people. That period of time burned me out into such a depression after loved ones passed on because I didn't allow myself to feel too much then!! It is like being in a type of battle. You sometimes have no time to do anything but act. Thinking too much at the time of crisis can be halting and tender one helpless. On another note, glad you got your hip fixed! Hope everything is still improving!! This video popped up now on its' own w/ algorithms,so am late to know about it!☘️🕊️

I'm glad all the apparent set backs with your hip surgery and recovery have actually worked in your favor. Personally I suppose I should be grateful for what I have good health etc... but I still resent those who hurt me in the past and doubt if I'll ever get to a place where I'm free of that resentment. Anyway hope your back on the bike and making excellent progress and remember the body is a temple worship well and take care.

People have the same physiology as they did during the caveman days. People's bodies weren't designed for 21st century life and the amount of stress that comes with it.
Hydrocortisone or else Cortisol which is a type of glucocorticoid from stress over a long period of time causes brain damage.
Some things can help with depression.
Exercise- a 30 minute fast walk 3 times a week.
Sleep - get about 8 hours of sleep a night.
    Socialization - self explanatory
Light - expose yourself to at least 30 minutes of daylight a day. Also turn off all televisions and all lights before sleeping.
Omega 3 and Omega 6 - Omega 3 is anti-inflammatory and includes ALA, EPA and DHA. Omega 6 is pro-inflammatory and includes LA, GLA and AA.
The ideal diet is 2 parts Omega 6 to 1 part Omega 3. The typical North American diet is composed of 20 parts Omega 6 to 1 part Omega 3!
Fish has Omega 3 and Omega 6. I don't know how to implement this in my life. I'll take my chances with whatever I'm eating and in whatever amounts.
Nature, walking on the woods, parks - the air in nature has probiotic bacteria and is good for health and for dealing with depression.*
The coronavirus mask can inhibit this. It's good that if one is alone or not with too many people to take off the coronavirus mask.

Wow thank you so much Douglas for this! “The key to living: To put the most helpful frame of reference on whatever you experience so that it works for you instead of against you.” I had to rewind the video to capture this profound outlook you shared. By the way, there's a term that gives your name to the idea of putting the most helpful frame of reference you can on whatever you experience. It's called "reframing," is taken from A branch of psychology called "neurolinguistic programming." You might want to read about it
