If you found this review helpful, and if you're planning to buy this REI tent, please consider supporting this channel by using my affiliate link to REI here: bit.ly/3BRBadV There is absolutely NO cost to you at all if you decide to buy this tent, but it gives me a small commission so that I can continue buying and testing all this camping gear as objectively as possible 😊 🙏 Thank you so much to all of you guys who have used my links, I really appreciate it! 🥰
we've had our W6 for about a year and a half now and haven't yet experienced any issues with the poles; we also had two days of rain the very first time we used and I think it stayed pretty dry except for those spots you mentioned but not to the point I feel I have to do anything about it; my wife use a king size mattress and sleep placidly there with our little daughter and still have room for some chairs, a floor lamp and a little table; when it's just me I use a cot and feel very cozy inside!! overall I'm satisfied!!!
Oh that's really great news about the poles! Thank you so much for sharing 🥰 I think I might have just gotten a bad product or something. I wish I could have returned it and gotten a new one to test, but it's really difficult for me to do that since I don't live in the US. Oh well :( But I'm glad to hear that it went well for you. And yeah the leaking isn't too bad! Definitely one of the better cabin tents in rain for sure. 😊
So far in my research this looks like the best tent for me! Awesome set of videos and very informative. What I looked for: Ventilation (Texas Heat) Tall (Ren Faire costume changes ease) Spacious (Queen size blowup) Glamping (no weight requirement) Willing to spend the money (since I will use the tent 8+ times a year)
@Lears Thank you so much! I'm really glad that I could help answer all your questions 😊 It was my pleasure really! If I ever miss out any questions that you may have, feel free to let me know and I'll do my best to help 😊
Your reviews are by far the finest, extremely thorough, concise and professionally presented. What a shame about the poles. I am looking hard for a decent sized (6 person or better) tent that would be suitable for a 3+ season (with diesel heater) yet be well ventilated enough for hot summers. This tent likely would fill the bill but no way would I risk it with these poles. I was really drawn to the REI Base Camp but it has been discontinued. I would consider the ability to open windows and vents from the inside a must. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much Wayne! That really means a lot to me, and I really appreciate all your lovely comments on my videos! That definitely helps the channel out 🥰 I actually think that perhaps my poles might have been a defect in just MY tent, some of my viewers have told me they had no problem at all! 😅 Ohhh actually most tents are either summer or off-season camping tents, it's hard to find one that suits BOTH seasons haha. But a great thought for sure! Oh but hey I think the Base Camp is coming back in a few months!
Thank you. You give the best reviews I have seen. Excellent review, Your review is levels up against the so called male outdoorsman reviews. Please keep up the excellent work.
Great honest review! Bought the 4 version of this tent because I feel like its easy on the eyes compared to others, but good to know about the pole issues! Hopefully replacing those won't be a problem
Hey Chloe! I’m really glad you liked this review! It definitely really is easy on the eyes. I love the color! Do you live in the US? REI doesn’t stock replacement poles but they can do an entire tent exchange. I didn’t have the option myself because I’m from Asia and would cost me $200 just to ship the tent back. But if you’re in the US it shouldn’t be too big of a problem! 😊 hope this helps!
Oh wow thank you so much Joe! Appreciate you sharing that with me 😊 Let me know how it goes if you have the time! I'd love to hear your experiences with it 😊
Thank you so much for this video. Love your work and presentation. Thank you so much for sharing. I was really close 🤏 to purchasing this exact tent. Due to pricing at the online check-out I didn't purchased. I want with the woods A fram 6 person tent. My decision didn't disappoint 😃 Once again THANK YOU!!
Hey Jon! Thank you so much for watching my videos 😊 I’m really glad you like this one too! Hmm well, I’ve the Wawona 6 coming out next week, and the Best 6P tent in the couple of weeks following, would that help you with your decision making? 😊
@@CampingGuidance 6P is definitely what I’m looking for! I’m a fair weather person so I’m looking for ventilation and minor creature comforts over rainproof for sure. Looking forward to more videos.
@@jonsniffssnow8667 Thanks for sharing Jon! 😊 What kind of creature comforts are you looking for? As for ventilation in fair weather, I think this Wonderland has definitely got its competition beat for sure. But if you get this tent I recommend breaking it out and making sure your poles don't bend like mine did 😊 And thank you so much again for watching all my videos, it really helps the channel with the YT algorithm! 😊
Thank you for this very detailed review. I’m curious, REI claims that the tent poles were redesigned and the ‘bending’ or snapping flaw had been corrected. Was this review done before or after the redesign of the tent poles and have you had a chance to test the newer version?
My Y pole did the exact same thing after two setups and I returned it it for another Wonderland 6 since they don't replace the poles. I honestly think it's something with the first initial setups of the tent where that section takes the brunt of the bending force when you're placing the pole ends in the grommets. I was more mindful with the second tent and it seems the stress worked its way over a few sections giving me a nicer curve across the top. I agree that these poles are a let down but I'm on year two with mine and about a dozen different trips and the poles seem to have held their shape without much change after "breaking in" to the natural form of the tent. I am bummed after this last trip where a velcro tab for attaching the rainfly to the pole came off.
Hey Adam! Thanks so much for your comment and the input! I tried to get a replacement pole too!! I found it so strange that REI doesn't stock them? 🤔 They offered to send me a new one if I send them back my defective one, but I live in Asia and the shipping would have killed me so I just kept it 😂 I'm really glad to hear that your second tent worked out well for you! You're probably right about the bending force when setting up this Wonderland, but it sucks that it's this way in the first place :( If I buy the next version of this Wonderland, I'll be sure to take better care of it haha 😂 Oh man I'm so sorry to hear about the Velcro tab! How did you manage to fix it? :(
Thank you so much for these incredibly helpful videos! After watching this video, I think I have narrowed it down to the REI Base Camp 6 and The North Face Wawona 6- will your Wawona 6 video be up soon? I can’t wait to see it!

Great video! How do you this tent compares to the basecamp 6? Like what factors and features would someone pick this over the base camp 6 or vice versa.
@saics Thank you so much again! It means a lot that you've been watching all my review videos 😊 Hmm I think the biggest factor to consider is when you're intending to go camping. This Wonderland tent is definitely a summer tent, with too much mesh to be used outside of summer. On the other hand, the Base Camp was a little stuffy for me in the summer (especially cos I'm in hot and humid Singapore), and it's definitely more of a shoulder-season tent. It has much less mesh and a full rainfly. I think this is the biggest differentiating factor. But the complete Best 6-Person Tents video should be out in a few weeks (by the end of this month) and I think I can go through this question in much more detail for sure 😊 hope this helps!
@@saics Oooh I see! Thank you so much for sharing 😊 How are you finding it so far? I had just bought a new Kingdom 6 (my second one in 5 years) on closeout when they came out with the Wonderland. I have thought of trading up to Wonderland but I live in a cold area with a lot of bad weather and having so much mesh is not really a good feature for me. And I did have concerns abotu the rain fly not going all the way to the ground on all sides. I'll still to the Kingdom 6 for a while and see what the next edition of Wonderland will look like. I had planned to get a Nemo Wagontop 6 as my next tent but that was discontinued! The search continues.
Thank you so much for sharing Deborah! Really appreciate all your comments on my videos 😊 And yeah I think in your case, the Kingdom definitely sounds like much more suitable than the Wonderland for sure. I'm still curious why they discontinued the Kingdom and replaced it with the Wonderland. Sucks that all the tents you've been wanting have been discontinued though :( Any thoughts on The North Face Wawona? I think it's a really great tried and tested tent, and I'm working on the review as we speak 😊
@@CampingGuidance I've looked at the Wawona and I'll wait for your review to decide. Nice review. Had the wonderland 4 and the rainfly and mesh started to get holes in them. The poles also bent. Had the tent one year. REI took it back full refund. I liked the tent. Just wish it was made with better materials and a full rainfall. As it is, I can't recommend it.

I have the Quechua 4.1. It did good with rain, and wind, however the pole was a bit too tight and keep on coming undone when pushing through the pole holes. I am 5'2 and have no problem set it up by myself in about 15 minutes. Everything can be fit back to the bag. The ventilation was not that good for hot summer. 4.1 doesn't have the darkroom so it was really bright and you will wake up with the sun. The Livingroom area is not a normal seam sealed bathtub flooring is like a extra large rainfly and the flooring is a different attachable tarp fold up on the corner to create a container floor, bugs can get in so the only area that can be mosquito free is the bedroom which is like it own sleeping bubble. I will suggest to get a few camping fan to hang on the ventilation and a uv tarp above the tent to block heat. The bedroom can fit 1 queen size and 1 twin size mattress. It work so nicely to have the Livingroom because it rained 3 days out of 2 and my baby have room to play in the Livingroom area. One more downside is the front door, it does not have a mash screen door, so the only nature light you might get is the plastic windows. The front door is where you get your fresh air most of the time. Now we use 4.1 as a guest tent.
