Hi you Two. Thank you so very much for your fab videos. Last year, after watching hour You Tube Channel I made up my mind to buy a greenhouse. My husband has Vascular Dementia and previously a really keen gardener. I thought it would help him but unfortunately he didn 't show much interest. However, I got involved, especially after watching your videos. I bought and eight foot by ten foot greenhouse, but it was not erected until June of last year which was a bit late. Sadly my husband was not too interested, I lost heart. However today, I have cleaned out the greenhouse and started watching your videos again. You give me such inspiration, you are clear with your advice and I just love to watch you. I thank you so much because after today - 23rd March, having cleaned and disinfected the greenhouse I am raring to go. I am going to order the tomato seeds you recommended from Camilla and look forward to more videos from you both. Thank you so much you are an inspiration! You give clear and sensible advice, please keep on with your advice and videos. All love from me here in North Wales - Cefn Meiriadog, near St. Asaph, Denbighshire - Anita xxxx
Yay!!! Another tomato growing buddy!
It can be your place you escape to Anita… cause you’ll need some time and space occasionally 🥰
We both know what you are going through 😍
Oooo… that mixed cut and come again. Simple yet genius!! Why has that never occurred to some of us before? Thank you!
I’m also growing lufichoise tomatoes. The multi-flora is what got me to add them too. I say growing.. not sown them yet 😅😅
You make such good use out of your space.
Ps… sorry for gatecrashing your filming. 😜😊
😂😂😂😂😂 your forgiven
@@eliandkate thank you 🤩 😂
Same weather as in Saskatchewan Canada!😂 It's warm, cold wind some sun the rest clouds and it's raining while I type this 😊
Last year, Ron built us a 2’ x 4’ x 6” deep “Lettuce Alone” bed on top of 2ea 55 gallon rain barrels. We grow cut and come again lettuce in it most of the summer along with radishes. Just this past week, he built a cold frame cover over it and I am sowing it this week. Fresh greens after a long winter! Can not wait!
I hope you appreciate that boy!
What did he get in return?
@@eliandkate he would say he is pretty spoiled as well if asked! But I deeply appreciate his carpentry skills and his general ‘can do’ attitude.
Love Watching Your Channel. You Make Everything Sound Great. My Greenhouse Broke Winds Ripped Roof Off And Panel From The Back, The Door No Is Umm Nope Have To Say It, Door Is Knackard. Lots Plants Also Knackard. A Freak Wind Last Week, I Live In N. Wales. Got Start All Over Again.
Oh no!!!!! 😢
In the history of backyard Gardeners, has any gardener every cried out in frustration, "Aaarrrgh!!! I need a smaller greenhouse!" ???
Ha ha ha very true…. If they did… they lied!
BTW, when you say, Camilla,, you don't mean King Charles' Queen, Camilla, do you?
cuz, not sure she's a gardener.
Defo not
Much like you always want a bigger fridge!!
Thanks for sharing
I hear ya! I am continually saying - I need a bigger greenhouse!!!
😂😂😂😂

Fab video, as always. Such an exciting time when the march seed sowing madness begins... Good luck and fingers crossed for better weather some time soon... Take care for now Eli and Kate x
Great informative video as always Eli. Always look forward to your videos on Sunday’s.
Awwww
So you out sowing anything today??
@@eliandkateI actually sowed some sweet peas and some early season mixed pack of flower seeds I had into a couple of planters by the shed. Mixed pack said early spring so thought I’d try them. It is going to be a stormy afternoon so had to stop at that.
I ADORE your hoodie jumper in this video, Eli! It's stunning and looks SO cozy!
Oh it is.... it's my favourite jumper :D
Got my potatoes in for St. Patrick’s day, onions and garlic is down and sowed by sugar snap peas ❤
Awesome 🙌
I'm giving your King of the North peppers a go this year. Some to grow in the conservatory and some outside. Fingers crossed. We're south of England, so assuming we get a decent summer, I am excited to see what happens. Growing Bulgarian Carrot chillies too, outside, as they're supposed to be tougher to cool weather. I need to get me a greenstalk thing. I have no space in my garden left that the kids haven't taken over. Have a fabulous week, both of you lovely ladies! xxx
Hi Eli & Kate, I'm going to try your salad cut & come sowing in a seed tray, brilliant idea. Another great video. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Sounds great! Can't wait to hear about your bounty :D
Another great video Eli. We just need a good dose of spring sunshine now here in Scotland and a few degrees warmer. Let the sowing begin!!
tell me about it, I've got the heating on!!!!!
Eli I love your red labels! Keep the videos coming please 🙏
😁
Oh my, if I was only half as organised as you. Such a clean neat garden and organised greenhouse. Like Fortnum and Mason of the garden world!
Oh I wish 😂😂😂😂
Excellent video! Eeek my 1/2 pints are poking through ❤ glad to see Clare in on the grow along 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Oh man…. You’re beating me 😂😂😂
@@eliandkatenah you are so much further ahead than I am 😊 but my peas are outside now 🎉
Love your ideas. You make things I stress about look so simple. I tend to over think the whole seed starting process. Thanks.
Let’s keep it simple and stress free Frank
It’s meant to be fun….. just keep telling yourself!
Love Marmande. Did them for the first time last year and they were fab. Just sown mine. ❤
Wooohoooo a fellow fan
👍 everything looks so nice!😎🐢 We still have 2 months but I'm trying to work on my seeds 💚💚💚 Thank you for sharing true inspiration
That lets you plan for garden domination!!!!!
Love the idea of mixing the cut and come again seeds in one tray, will be doing that next time! Thanks!
On your super successful garden 2024!!!!!
@@eliandkate here’s hoping!
Great video, packed with tips! There's always room for a bigger greenhouse if you buy your neighbor's property. 😄
😂😂😂😂
Looking forward to the colab. I really need to get used to the bottom watering it’s such a great idea
I was just thinking this morning that it might be time to set up all my bottom watering beds in the greenhouse. It’s getting out of hand 😂😂😂😂
Brilliant video Eli. I think I might try and get some of those half pint peas and give them a go. Also love your compost tray with the tidy thing on top, so organised.
I’m really excited by them and it sounds like a few other folk grow similar plants 👏👏👏
Wowooo.... tomato time ❤... yesterday I got my grow station set up and also started my seeds.. different kinds of chilli and peppers, 8 kinds tomato and 5 kinds tomatillos. Outside I did some cut and come salat and paris carrots.. It somehow is always a great feeling to get started. Great video again. ❤ thanks so much
Wow…. You are living the dream!!!!!! 🥰🥰
Fabulous video as always .... so relaxing watching you sow seeds ...
I'm starting sowing in my Greenhouse now ....fingers crossed I get some sun 😊😊😊🌻🌻🌻
🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
I'm trying a few different varieties of tomato never really grown them before but this year I have a greenhouse so thought why not. But the one I'm most excited about is the Reisetomate tomato. Love that I know seeing you do what I'm doing cheers me up. Thanks for the knowledge.
Bring on the snacking on tomatoes in the greenhouse! Right of passage 😂😂😂
I try sew my peas around the ides of March. My grandmother insisted this is when peas should be sewn and they do really well when I'm able to get them in then. No starting under any kind of cover, directly in the ground or pots outside.
This is the only piece of gardening advice I aim to follow every year. I'm running a little late this year, but they will be in the ground before the weekend.
One year I accidentally planted Tom thumb peas, also a dwarf variety. Took me forever to figure out why my peas weren't growing tall. Lol Eventually I remembered I had purchased the Tom thumbs to plant in hanging baskets with flowers. Lol
😂😂😂 I bet that was confusing
I'm so excited I have a handful of cauliflower seeds germinate still less than an inch but thought none of my seeds of sown last month had. Funny I had nipped to B&Q and saw some starts for cauliflower and Brussels. Well at least they will be ready at different times so succession planting unplanned.
I'm growing strawberries, tomatoes and peas in hanging baskets this year as fed up with slugs. So excited about it all in like a kid in a sweet shop x
Ohhhh hanging baskets
Good plan
@@eliandkate space saver idea and I'm determined to get some crop this year. You watch the birds will peck at them this year lol x
Wow Eli those red labels look great ❤ my favorite color 😂
I have all sorts of colours 😁😁😁
We grow Sophie's Choice tomatoes for our early tomatoes. Determinate (app. 24"" is all), 8 oz fruits, they prefer the cooler weather. As an experiment, I grew one from seed in the house this winter. No grow lights, just a sunny window. They did take longer to produce, and the fruits were around 4 oz, but it actually worked. Fresh, homegrown, organic tomatoes in January during a Midwest (USA) winter was so, so nice. I recommend them if you want to try a new variety that will tolerate your cooler climate.
Thanks for the suggestion Debs
🐝Thanks for the great video🌻 ow those tiny toms look really nice
Lots of tomatoes!!!!
@@eliandkate fresh bruchetta;s PLEASE!!
It’s no longer the holy trinity of Bob Ross, Steve Irwin and Lavar Burton. We’ve got to add in a fourth: Eli and Kate.
Wow up there with Bob Ross! Thats cool!!
No kidding… when I water my plants and transplant my seedlings, i find your accent is now my inner dialogue. 😅 an American! But I watch you so much that the accent is now rubbing off 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Well I suppose dot could be worse, my bad behaviour could be what’s rubbing off on you
daytime temperatures between 50 and 100 ° f the low temperature has been 29 to 47 f
Hi Eli great tips as always I ❤ your sieves, I actually did my tomatoes yesterday and possibly done too many seeds 😂 I should learn 🍅🍅
😂😂😂 oh we all do that! Every time
I’m trying Marmande this year for the first time…I do like a good slicing tomato…and one good for sauces so hopefully this will be a good one..x
Oh it’s awesome!
😁 you are just so lovely 👍
Awwwwwww thank you Lara… so are you
Thanks Eli, i messaged you last year first time growing tomatoes, you told me not to stress and I didn't, lovely little grop off cherry tomatoes! 😊
This year two types of tomato and a few peas. 🤞
Wooohooooo
So what varieties have you chosen this year?
@@eliandkate Money makers and a random yellow cherry I got from my fridge! 😁 I dried seeds out on tissue paper last year and just planted it tissue and all! They are about inch tall already just about to give off true leaves. Did well on my kitchen window sill.
My little greenhouse is full of flower seeds . 🤞
Love watching your vlogs.
Any tips for flowers slugs hate! Little blighters munched down on quite a few last year.
Oh slugs and snails are the biggest pest for me!
Basically it’s the nice new growth they love so I bring the plants on a little more before putting them into the garden so that they aren’t as desirable to them.
Try Aquilegias, Penstemons, Foxgloves, Euphorbia, Astrantia, Geraniums, Anemones, Astilbes, Hellebore, Lavender, Fuscia, Hydrangea 😁
@@eliandkate Thank Eli 😁
I hope the weather doesn't curse you like it did me last night. Predicted 0C, actual -5C. Lost all my beetroot seedlings, probably some of the onions and some of the brassicas. Broad beans survived pretty well, other beans had some damage but mostly ok. My salad stuff looked bad but might actually survive! Brought most stuff in tonight , should be the last really cold night (fingers crossed). So I've got some more planting to do. Hopefully things will catch up...
Yikes
We only got down to minus 0.5
Lol, nothing like a game of Twister in the GH😅.
So correct about these temp swings. We were warm and this week is quite cold 🥶 going from 60-70 F to 20-30F and a flake or two is not welcomed.
Planted potatoes last year 3rd week of April and they froze to the ground May 25th along with everything else. We had 90F last May then Boom! So it will be a bit before I start tomatoes for sure.
It’s mad trying to plan anything… lovely and clear and bright this am but a touch chilly
I had frost damage on my potatoes last year on THE 2ND OF JUNE!! Set me back 2 weeks and they weren't super healthy, lower yields.
With the rotary sieve, if you turn the bottom row of screws/nuts around the other way (with the head of the screw on the inside and the nut on the outside) the bar will not jar so easily. Not relevant with compost maybe but it helps when sieving soil.
Noted 😁
Not sure if you have access to these in Scotland (I’m in the U.S.) but I love growing Tom Thumb peas in my green stalks. They are so small they don’t need any supports. They are so good that my vegetable hating teenagers swarm them and pick them to eat fresh, they rarely make it inside the house! I think I’m going to dedicate 2-3 greenstalks just for peas. I replant them again in the fall too.
Oh thanks
Sounds like the half point but great to have another option
Thanks
Had to comment again 😂, I know the Camilla you are referring to, I follow her on instagram 😊
My name is also Camilla 😂 seriously, but I’m Scottish 🏴 and live in the NE of Scotland and I’m not as good as you…let alone the other Camilla 😂😂😂
Ha ha ha well Camilla from the north east… welcome 😂😂😂😂
The veg dwarf thickens… I was right!!!😂👍❤️
😂😂😂😂 really?
Yes, on your live chat with gardener Scott I hinted at the veg plot. Clare replied but didn’t give anything away. 😉😂❤️

Thank you for your enjoyable videos. Can you plse tell me what your seed storage box is called (maybe that! 😊) I would like to source one here in South Africa 🇿🇦 Thank you!
it's actually a photo storage container.
You can get them on amazon and hobby shops
Love your wee videos so useful , what greenhouse is that and how has it been treating you?
My greenhouse is a Rhino and I love it!
Best purchase ever, very heavy duty, withstands everything
I started my siblings back in towards the end of February
Oh you should have fab little plants by now 😍😍😍
It's about my third or fourth year gardening I have a mini greenhouse but it's been a little bit too cold at night time here . And the plants are lagging behind a bit
You’ll go out now and they’ll be massive just to make you a liar! 😂😂😂😂
Great video, where did you get your root trainers, they look much sturdier than the haxnicks ones I use which seem quite brittle and flimsy.
They seem to be available at all the online gardening suppliers these days, they are made by garland….
decided to run a heater when it gets real cold at night time
Keep an eye on this pennies 😍 that could get costly
But your plant babies will love you
we can get them in our local gardening stores
Wow I think I need to get my seeds organized
😂😂😂😂
It does help
Thank you again Eli. I do look forward to your videos and experience. My wife and I purchased a plot and built a house. We are now living in it and our attentions are drawn towards an exciting garden to include a veg patch etc. I’ve bought a poly to get me going this year as well as a small veg patch. Could you advise the best place to purchase the root training set in the video?
Oh wow
That’s cool!
Em kinda hard to say Mark, every country has its own “garden kit suppliers”.
In the UK garland are awesome for this kind of thing
@@eliandkate As always, a font of knowledge and kindness. Thank you Eli. Wishing you both a good week ahead.
New to your channel. I am a life long gardener but have only had a greenhouse for around five years. I had a lengthy stay in various hospitals and when I got out the greenhouse that I and my father had done business with was out of business. I couldn’t find some of the old favorite varieties that I love so now start my own. Problem is I am out growing my greenhouse to the point that I run shelves between the other shelves and I open the door step in and that’s it, I have to reach and slide flats to take care of everything. Do you think I have a problem?
You OBVIOUSLY don’t John cause it sounds like my greenhouse 😂😂😂
Eli, can I ask how your white power panel is fastened to the greenhouse? I have the same make of greenhouse and need to get the power off the staging.
It’s just fastened using the crop bolts, but you do need to find long ones to go through the panel and reach into the channels.
Nice and sturdy though.
I have a pop-up Greenhouse do you have any suggestions about the temperature difference
Not sure what you are meaning Duckboy17, temperature difference of what?
Hi, enjoy watching your videos and thanks for your interest. Can I please ask what the white stuff you use for compost please. Thank you, have a nice day 😊xx
Not sure what you mean by white stuff I use for compost
Don’t mean the vermiculite chips that’s through my potting mix?
Yes, that’s the one I was looking for and thank you for your quick response 😊xx
@jackifarrow1021 😁 no worries Jack
Hi Eli, can U give details on the box thingy behind you please s
It’s a heated propagator.
Don’t know about different brands available where you are but if you search for heated propagators 😁
If seeds (in this case sunflowers) say they germinate in 10 to 21 days and 10 days later 80% have grown is there a chance the others will grow in the remaining time or not?
Yup there’s still a chance… maybe not all but could still get some
Do you have a link to a UK supplier of the greenstalks vertical tower please?
I do
growtowers.eu/
Tell the lovely Pam I sent you her way and she’s to be nice to you 😂😂😂
@@eliandkate thank you so much - I have really struggled to find anyone who'll ship to the UK :))
@helenannetts6194 yeah it’s super expensive so a lot of companies won’t take it on.
Not sure what the import tax will be like, you can let me know 😬
Gosh you’ve got so many trays. Those CD trays are SO expensive ! Any ideas why my beetroot seeds germinate then die 😩
hmmm obviously I can only take a guess at what might be going on with your seedlings but the most common thing is either overwatering or lack of light.
Over watering can cause so many issues including making the perfect environment for pathogen to kill little seedlings. If you can, have a look at the stems, does it look as if there are thinner parts? If so then this could be something called damping off, it's a fungus like pathogen that is the top reason why our seedlings fail. But over watering generally can cause issues for our seedlings.
Eli. You told us where you bought the bins you use for perlite etc. Now I can’t find which video I saw it. Can you please tell me again. I bought two huge bags and need something like yours to store it.
Thank you. Avril
it's in last week's video, the greenhouse one :D
@@eliandkate found it I was looking at older videos stupid I know. And IKEA deliver to Tasmania. Yippee
Do you grow in containers or is it all raised beds? ❤
A mix
Containers, raised beds, in the ground
Gotta make the best of the space you have
@@eliandkate we are just starting and have never grown anything before. Been on an allotment list for a good few years now, currently 14th 😂 we are going to try grow some bits in our little plastic greenhouse. The videos are excellent 👏
wow 14th!
We're something like 113 on the list now and that's after years and years :D
the temperature between daytime and nighttime with fluctuating too much
Ah gotcha.
Without adding heat you are going to have those swings, you have them in standard greenhouses too.
If you can add some extra insulation that can help hold the daytime heat a little longer through the night.
Things like bubble wrap layers work well.
@@eliandkate the daytime temperature is way too high around noon 44c
