Tomato Arbor Finishing Touches!

- We had to battle the most uneven, wonky, lopsided garden ever in order to make this build work, we fought wind, rain, storms and snow... but we made it. We finally finished the arbour/pergola / arch build and our seating area is getting there.
#gardending #gardendiy
Awesome job. Some of the added comedy was the best!!
The silliness is what gets us through these projects 😁
The best bit is you can wrap it in pallet wrap if you want to protect the toms or Kate’s seedlings as a mini greenhouse till it’s tomato time!!!….. great work ladies you had me in stitches 😂 xx
Oh that’s a brilliant idea! Hadn’t occurred to us
@@eliandkate 🥰 have a good one and see you in 2024 😁
You too
There is something about being all cozy in a little “hidden” garden space. I have multiple seating spaces in my garden and always end up in the one that is that kind of feel. You’ve made your spot so inviting, I would happily chill out in your space with a cup of tea. After getting a full garden and greenhouse tour, of course, lol. Thanks for another great video!
So true… those are the best spots!!!!!!
Hi Eli & Kate, what a brilliant job you have both done! A few laughs along the way too. Lovely video ❤ thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Gotta be able to laugh at things haven’t you 😂😂😂
Great job to both of you on the build, determination, and dealing with that biting wind from the North Sea.
Very bitey!!! 😂😂😂
Love you both 💓 such a entertaining video like always.
That makes me smile.
It means a lot that you guys enjoy spending time in the garden with us
Now THIS video is entertaining! Thanks for the smiles.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic job ladies. Looking forward to seeing in the coming months.
We’ll defo be showing it off
You're a dedicated gardener. No reason to let the weather slow you down. 🙂 It looks great!
😂😂😂😂 you say dedicated I say a bit mad
You two are so entertaining 😂 plus I’m learning so much and you make it fun😊😊😊
So glad to hear it 👏
Looks great! It was nice to see your local area. It’s like watching a sitcom and once in a while they film off set😂.
Ha ha ha a wee trip to the store to keep you happy
Eli: “These are about as straight as me!” 😂🤣 Great job Ladies, creating your cozy corner!
Thank you Aunty Mo! 😂😂😂
Its always motivating for me and my husband to see you outdoors all year round working on what you need to.. at the moment we're the only ones still working on our allotment, growing and harvesting.. its always great to garden and be in the garden when we can ❤ 😅
Hey when you live in Scotland you can’t be a fair weather gardener… sometimes you just gotta get wet 😂😂😂
You ladies are a delight. Thanks for the design inspiration and the giggles!
Gotta have a good giggle on our garden, there are rules!
"A Fifer" is something I haven't heard in years. 😅
Plants don't really care if the supports are plumb or square, that's why I don't worry about this. But, Kate does, you do, so carry on!
It's great fun watching you two fiddle around between inches and cms. My younger generations are confused when I mix them too, six feet equals X cms. 😋🤣
Gardens are places to fill with things we like, so enjoy.
🇨🇦💖
I think Canada is the same as us in using a mix of metric and imperial?
For anyone over 40, yes, but lumber, various other things are still sold in feet and inches.
It's a hangover from the past and still dealing with the American influence.
The space near the greenhouse could make a decent herb spiral. It gets quite a bit of sun, and most herbs don't need a lot of water.
It might break up the boxy look too.
Lol, I use that " it's as straight as I am" comment too often when building things. It looks fantastic. It add a ton of visual interest and vertical opportunities. Looking forward to seeing how you manage the pond so it won't rot your bed or heave your stones.
Ha ha ha the pond isn’t real, it’s just a massive puddle because we moved the raised bed…. It’ll be paved over 😁
Excellent work as usual ladies! I love the look of you new chillouterie. Roll on nicer weather for you both to sit and enjoy the space
Bring it on!
Oh, it's going look fab dripping in tomatoes 🍅 Nice work ladies. Happy new year 🍾🥂
We might add a few flowers too, just for colour! 😍
The frame looks amazing Eli and Kate. Great job, Happy New Year to you both
Thanks you. A wee spruce up in the garden does wonders 😁
Have a fab Hogmanay and we’ll see you in the new year
@@eliandkate 😂 Mayonnaise What? 😉. Happy New Year🍻
I love the new arbor! So glad you made your own. It is far better than the ones from the garden center!! Love it!
Oh yea, and your garden is wonky…because you both a wonky crazy to be doing at work in the winter cold!! You both make me smile!
😂😂😂😂
Awwwww. Now I don't feel so wonky with my wonky knowin' you have wondy too! xoxo
You gotta have some wonk in your life!
Could do a nice, circular bird bath in that space. With some nice pots to brighten it up. Or turn it into your new yoga space... Thanks ladies, that was a great catch up. I love watching other people do DIY. Happy Hogmanay!
If only we did yoga!!!! 🧘♀️ 😍😍😍
Kate and Eli I love it. I have some lengths of wood to make the outline frame for a cold frame for my wonky garden. The wood ten months later is still in the garage and a cheap purchased one now falling apart. So be proud of your home made it will last a long time
we planted it up for the first time this week :D
Level it up by using washers as spacers.
Oh this was so much fun watching the two of you 😂
I’m so glad you got to chuckle along with us Mel 😁😁😁
I absolutely love you two …you work very well together ..keep up the good ideas ,I’m depending on you both this year ,to make my garden a bigger success this year ,after purchasing my first greenhouse last summer ..x
Oh no…. Don’t rely on us, we’re a nightmare
@@eliandkate Well ,that way ,if it goes wrong ,I can blame you two ..x
@barbaraguzmics8293 😂😂😂😂😂
Looks good from here!
👏👏👏👏👏👏
I think you're doing an awesome job. It looks great to me, and it'll be awesome once you get your plants in, and they start growing. Have a very HAPPY NEW YEAR and may it be prosperous for you both in every way.
😁😁😁😁😁 we’re ready for it… bring on 2024! 😍😍😍😍
Happy New Year to you both all the best for 2024🎉 🎉
And to you Yvonne 🎉🎉🎉
🎉HAPPY 2024! 😂 Yes, I want to build one of these for my tomatoes every year, but I find I never remember to keep them growing around the string. I’m thinking you could grow peas up it before tomatoes since they love cold weather.
ohhhhh - shhh secret... but I have a plan for peas
Love the new structure. Can’t wait to see how it looks this summer.
It’s gonna be awesoooooooome !
Its no a pond....its a Moat, keeps oot the invaders... fill it with wee battle crocodiles and you've got a proper moat!!! Fab wee giggle ... Happy new year xxxx
😂😂😂😂 can I get sharks with “ laseuuuuuuuur beeeeeeams”
@@eliandkate Go for it, the world is your oyster, wire in... I think any sorta sea monster would work... RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!
This has me smiling so much. The girl maths was hilarious too.
Brilliant video. The structure looks amazing. Really love it. Going to be perfect.
Well done! Really relate to your decisions on the old seating area. Got to keep the balance.
Happy Hogmanay. ❤
Yay…. I thought for sure everyone would be shocked we didn’t add the extra raised beds
@@eliandkate definitely not. If you’d added them, I felt you may have actually used them as flower beds more than veg beds
Wonky gardens….i can relate. I once put up a huge pool for the kids and wondered what the strange noise was coming from the garden, ehh only my whole gravel area whooshing down to the neighbours side. Looking forward to the next installation process 🌻
Oh no!!!!!! Were they please with THEIR new gravel garden?? 😂😂😂
I would grow, in the Greenstalk, lettuce, spinach. Mini peas, micro tomatoes, strawberries and a tier of flowers to attract the pollinators 😊
#GROWTOWERSWITHELIANDKATE
Wrong video mags 😁
Yeah, sorry. Your other video ended just as I was typing and it just went on to this one automatically. By the time I finished typing it posted on this one 😂 I think I've now posted on the correct video. Sorry 😬@@eliandkate
@mags9536 I’ve done that too 😁😁😁😁
HAPPY NEW YEAR. Remember, shims are your friend - 🤣 The trellis looks great. Have a wonderful, abundant growing year. I will be following you dears.
Shims are indeed our friends!!!!
I could use some of Kate's Karpentary skills... my things always look "eh... it should do"... yours look lovely and tidy. Great job as always!
I suspect a lot of that is because you are seeing it in video… always looks fancier
@@eliandkate Could be... but I'm pretty sure my "handiwork" looks "rough" in person or in video... so I'll still give credit ;)
The brackets are a great idea, I was trying to figure this part out to make a permanent cage for a bed. Great for covering to protect seedlings etc.
Yeah if you want to do something heavy duty (rather than the plastic pipes) this works great.
Love it, so nice. Good idea. ❤❤
It’s gonna be such a nice wee spot for us to enjoy
Fun video! Always nice to change things up and make your space work for you!! 🥳
Exactly… a few twinkly lights and all
Happy new year Eli and Kate you two are not only great at DIY but a hilarious double act luv i watching your channel ❤
😂😂😂 it’s all in the edit
You two are just hilarious! 😂
Structure looks fab and I look forward to seeing it all decked out with lovely climbing plants. Happy New Year ladies ❤
Happy new year Eliev
Great job ladies. Its gonna a look so cozy & inviting once you've finished.
Happy New Year to you both, & all of of your fab viewers of course 🎉
It’s going to be my perfect little spot for a morning coffee 😍😍😍
Hi, I've just discovered your channel looking for info about Rhino Greenhouse and I love it. I like all the useful information and your passion. Thank you for making those videos.
We don’t really do rhino info but you can at least see some real life gardening with a rhino owner 😁
I love your creations! Have a happy New Years!
And to you Donna 🎉🎉🎉
Such a great video ... thank you so much Ladies ...you always cheer me up on a Sunday 😊😊😊
Wishing you both a very Happy & healthy New year 😊❤😊
Thank you…. Wishing you all the best
Made me laugh. Thankyou for a fab video and wishing you both a wonderful and very happy New Year xx
glad we made you laugh Jenny :D
You make such a good team! You'll have a lovely place to sit with the level of cozy you need :D Happy New Year to both of you!
Oh we’re an awful team, we just fix it in the edit 😂😂😂😂
😁@@eliandkate
What a fun video! So it seems just about anyone has trouble getting things level, not just me! Good to know. I actually adore your mini bog! Think of the possibilities! You can get pots of plants that like to have wet feet and have them standing in the bog, never needs watering. It might attract frogs which are great for pest control. You can get some mid size river rocks and fill it and put pots of plants on so no mess when you over water them. Also, any pots that have dried out and need a good watering, you can just stand them in the bog until they get well soaked up! The possibilities are endless. I wish you both a very Happy New Year and I’m very glad I found your channel recently. Oh, also, have you given a thought about growing Sweet Peas up in your new mini space? They climb well, flower and smell heavenly. Just a thought . 🎉🎉🎊❤️
Ah ha…. Now we were actually talking about plants tonight… we’re thinking we’ll grow some thurnbergia up there 👏👏👏
@@eliandkate do they have a scent? It’s always a bonus.
@meghanplamondon8639 ahhh so you maybe don’t know this about me then… but I avoid scented flowers. I’m not a fan, most smell really bad to me or worse make me sneeze 😢
@@eliandkate omg! Poor you! Then absolutely forget Sweet Peas. Clematis don’t smell, they flower and some varieties grow up above 20 feet high. Ask me how I know, lol. But they are a permanent planting so I don’t know if you wanted to change things up each year. I’m sure between the two of you that you’ll have a long list of wonderful options. I can’t wait to see how you plant it. Good luck .
@meghanplamondon8639 Ach it’s not that bad…. I just avoid folk wearing lots of perfume 😂😂😂😂
This was so fun, funny and inspirational at the same time. I now have some ideas percolating too about improvements I can make to build a wee hidden sitooterie. You did such a great job on the plant frame (and great photo/ video frame 😊). I’m looking forward to seeing all you grow and also all the version of shading you can do. Happy New Year to you both. 🎉🌿🌼🍅
That is such brilliant news to think we inspired you 👏👏👏👏
This had me chuckling in a few places. 😂
It looks great. Your seating cwtch (we'd call it in Wales, not that I'm Welsh) will be lovely. The frog pond is a loss though. 😅
Take care and happy new year.
Jane
Looks great. Just an idea but a shade sail would be flexible in how you took it to shed, arbour and fence and removable.
That’s exactly the plan 😁 hence the eyelets
@@eliandkate nice 🌱
Ha you 2 crack me up xx❤😂
😜 glad you have a giggle with us
I like the new arbor. Stay warm. What kind of weather sensor do you have on your shed?
It’s an Ecowitt weather station… I’m a bit of a weather geek 😁
Thank you. @@eliandkate
"It comes with a water feature" 😂😂
👏👏👏👏👏 it so does
the bit where you used to sit ,what about putting a small solar powered water feature there .
It’s something we’ve spoken about for the garden but solar power isn’t very reliable here because we have so much cloud cover.
It’s on our wish list though
@@eliandkate its the same here in Blackpool , wind rain an cloudy . ive got a solar light in the shed only works in the summer time lol .dont really need it then .
@loftyskies123 😂😂😂 we’re exactly the same
Can you show a close-up of the black corner piece? Does it have a specific name? I need something little to hold up the boards on a chicken coop.
Here you go
Deck Post Anchor Base Brackets Fit 1.5x1.5,2x2,2x4,4x4 Post,Thick Solid Steel & Black Powder Coated,Deck Post Brackets Support Deck Base Plate Pergola Brackets Fence Kit Mailbox Mount (4 pcs) amzn.eu/d/c6ZVPe9
You put us to shame, we won’t go in the garden if it’s just spitting 🫣 and there you are painting in the snow 😂
Here, if you always wait for the good weather you’d never get anything done
Would it not have been easier to put it upside down on the path to measure, just wondering 😊
That was exactly Kate’s point 😂😂😂😂😂
do you recommend your vertical stacking pots, & where did you buy them from? Thanks Ann. PS love your vlogs.
Hey Ann
I’m kinda guessing you mean the big greenstalk planter…. Which I love. If I had the space I’d buy another 3.
Where you get them depends where you are in the world
Happy new year. Have you a link for the vertical grower please? X
It depends where you are smithy. They are greenstalk vertical planters available directly in the states but in the UK and EU then you can get them via GrowTowers.eu
@@eliandkate that's amazing thanks.
I love your videos and have been trying to get one of those for ages so thankyou!
They are fab….. I wish I had the space to get another. I grow more in one of these than in one of my raised beds but it takes up so much less space 😁😁😁😁
It just needs a litle finetuning 🤣🤣🤣
Can be said for most things in life 😜
@@eliandkate 🤣😘
