If you disconnect the screen from the motherboard the HDMI output will work before Windows loads. Well done Sorin this is a harder than it looks. Biggest challenge is getting a working chip.
Hello Sorin, it's an excellent job, without having a reballing machine for this and doing it like you and that it turns out perfect, you're a great professional. Thank you very much for teaching us.
Amazing work. Nothing short of amazing. People who are saying this was luck must have not see you doing it the first time. TWICE. I may never be able to do that. Well done!
you did amazing job , but my concern is that if you blowing air in so tight zone you can bend the board and after a while the balls between chip and board to unsoldering. Sunt si eu tot roman, si te salut si mult respect pt ceea ce faci! Esti mentorul meu!
I can’t believe how lucky you are!!! The shift pch did when it positioned itself shows me it was way off it desired position… judging by the 0.3mm balls on pch, it nearly impossible to not have solder bridges underneath it… lucky lucky lucky!
Nice job, Sorin ..but how do you manage to heat up the board so high from behind (on the spot) without being afraid that the components will fall down (a few resistors etc. could be seen there). And: do you have a jig to put the board on or do you have a table with a big hole that you blow the hot air stream through? During the soldering process you always only watch the board from above - how do you control the airflow from below at the same time when you have to be sure that it hits exactly where you want it? Well, soo many questions :)
Hi, the surface tension of the tin will hold them there .. of course you mustn't handle the board like a m....... calm hands .. no sudden movements with the board😉
On some laptops it may be possible to use the hdmi as the main screen (incl. bios etc) if u disconnect the internal screen connector before starting up. 😃
Just closing lid is usually enought, my tuf A15 has a faulty screen but can run 2 2k monitors trough HDMI and USB-C Dp, the panda brand panels are complete crap anyway. Keyboards and Mouses are cheap.
Hello Sorin, Just noticed that you are checking if the chip was moving by touching it with tweezers from the top, If you don't mind me saying that: the best way to check if the chip is soldered is to slightly poke it from its side and you should see it snapping back into it's place. thanks
On my BGA machine I put a one penny on top of the chip and I put a tiny bit of solder on the chip itself. When it melts it’s fixed. I have fixed tons of laptops like this
I'm amazed that the board didn't burn with all that heat for so long. I would be too apprehensive about it. Great fix. Too bad the screen wasn't salvageable.
Would be nice if the ME Region process was posted on the website, might save you some time not having to wait if the discord "guy" is busy, also would help the community if they want to tackle that task themselves without bothering the discord "guy" :)
I've swapped Win10 to different PCs and it works fine after it auto loads a few drivers, and I don't think it even needs internet to do it. I have a UFEI W10 and a non UFEI W10 for testing, ie, maybe make a W10 test SSD.

Just to test .. place an nvme with windows 10... connect the eth cable... wait some minutes.. and after automatic drivers installation you can switch to hdmi using win+p ... ( or just disconnect the screen cable )
Usually if there are 2 screens connected, the BIOS will default to a laptop screen. Whenever it doesn't recognize a screen, it will go straight to HD...especially new screens 120-166 HZ, there are malfunctions, so immediately deactivate a client's screen and check through the HD output

Great video as always. Just a question, you stated that a cpu chipset can’t fail catastrophically at 1v. I was curious about the type of power a cpu requires to get so hot and came across a data sheet that indicates that pentium i5,7,9 use upwards of 140W@1.1V… that’s almost 140 amps. It even states this amperage on the data sheet. I’m still learning all this and that just sounds bonkers to me. Granted, it’s 1v but 140 amps?? Please explain… thanks
I am not 100% on this, I am still learning. But usually electrical components don't draw more amperage than they need. They got an internal resistance so its basic ohms law. The pch runs somewhere at 1V. There is simply only so much current that gets pushed through. So nowhere close to those 140A that would be available, only a fraction. At 19V its a different story the "pressure" of the Voltage forces much more current in than it can handle. The delicate internal circuits overheat and short out. Just some random numbers lets say the pch is 4 Ohms then at 1V you'd get 0.25 Amps so merely 0.25W. At 19V you suddenly get 4.75A which would be 90 Watts.
Hi Sorin, I expected that the first test after replacing chipset would be to try to start it without screen connected but with live usb and hdmi. I wonder why you cannot try live cs/usb or any other ssd with windows for the test?
Huge mistake if you try to run WIN PE on an open computer you will burn the processor instead!!! Especially that a heatsink must be installed + cooling paste + some of the heatsinks cool additional chips Some Asus laptops also some from other manufacturers have the same phenomenon. When you enter the bios, the processor runs at 60%-80%, a kind of internal test for the processor. You can monitor fans that work at high RPM... only after you have assembled the computer and placed it on legs at a height where there are ventilation openings from below... after that, run a test. It's fun. ...I'm running WinPE 11-10-8 Sergei Strelec :) on an SSD with ORICO packaging .ballistic missile ")
