You've got to follow the manufacturer's break in and maintenance schedule on these things very closely. If you do this, it'll perform well and last for a good while.

Your Tractor Supply dealer will tell you where to trailer you Massimo for servie. Next year that is what I will do. This year I changed the oil, filter, topped up all the fluids. I had to change the spark plug last year so when you do change the oil, change the plug. I removed the rubber closures on the doors. No point. I got stuck in deep mud once but used the winch to get out. Overall worth every cent---so far. Still trying to figure out how to change the air filter and check the gear oil. Maybe tomorrow. BTW, keep the battery on a trickle charger at all times while the beast is at rest.

    Nice review..
Your critiques are noted and make me buying one easier and known flaws are nice..
    Just purchased today..
Dump bed crush hand is common sense issue..I could see me getting jammed up on a bad day tho..thx 4 heads up..
The door latch and handle need grease regularly...yours is dry.. it's not an expensive latch assembly so expect some manual interference...
The gear shifter may need grease as well...not sure if it's an alignment thing too..
Gravel getting tore up? 😢 lol
The floor is sad but 8k 471cc machine with dump body..
You said it...the value is in the price and some things will need attention..

You can remove the seat side bars very easily… that’s what I did. As for the difficulty shifting into L. I had the same issue. You can adjust the shift linkage to correct this. Some people have issues shifting into R. You have to depress the break pedal firmly as it is cabled to a pin that retracts to allow a smooth shift into R.

Honda has an option to disengage the posi traction rear axles. Eventually 1 wheel drive so it doesn't tear up grass or whatever you are on. You are welcome.

@@MegaGoogoohead I change the oil once every two years on my zero-turn. But I also check the oil level every time I go out in it. Doesn't seem to lose a drop. I just changed the oil in my Chevy Z71 and the sticker said the oil change was due in 2015 (over six years ago). I asked the guys about it and they said the oil was fine. BTW, the oil only had a couple thousand miles on it. I hate driving that truck unless I absolutely have to.
I think the "expiration date" stuff on engine oil is mostly baloney. Engine hours are what matters by far the most.

so far every thing you said as a con about it is general maintenance .. those door latches will do alot better with a little oiling, the same with the transmission linkage ,,, now the rear being posi track . is what it is ,, im sure theres been a few times it also helped you to have that .. and the floor pan, well thats a factory con for sure ,,, all they had to do is put a small plate where most peoples feet lay on the floor to take out the sagging movement and the floor would still be fine .... i think the things you would like for your father is more in line with a golf cart type machine ,,, they are smoother riding,, easier to get in ,,and made so they dont tear up the grass ,,, there are models of golf carts that have small beds on the back too ... all in all for the price and the time you put on it your doing good

I agree with two solutions mentioned here. I just bought a new Axis 500 in late May 2022. One issue quickly popped up. I had trouble getting it into reverse. I played around a little and found I needed to just increase my foot pressure on the brake. If I pulled down into reverse where it would stop before going into reverse, I could feel it release as I increased pressure and it would easily go into reverse. I hear there is actually a cable that needs to pull a pin to allow the drop into reverse. That makes sense. If I run into this problem again, I will look to see if there is an adjustment for the cable. Next is a common complaint about the door latches being sticky. This one is a no-brainer. The problem is metal to metal friction. When I first got my vehicle the door closed easily. After just a couple of weeks the driver's door would bounce off the latch rather than latch. It seemed like an adjustment, but that didn't help. I then grabbed a can of Liquid Wrench and shot the mechanism inside and out. I wiped off the excess to clean things up and !BINGO! I have doors that close very easily. My only complaint is that it steer worse than my '49 1 ton truck. I am looking at installing an aftermarket Electric Power Steering unit.😊😊

I'm about to pull the trigger on the one at lowes. I have 32 acres that includes two hollers and two knobs. About 26 acres of it is woods. The big trees were taken out about 8 years ago and they made some rough "logging roads" to get to the trees. They are just waiting for me to start using one of these on them. I just need it to get around the property and bring my wife to the far corners. She'll not really join me most places in the woods because it's a lot of walking and uphills. My 4x4 pickup is also just too much for it. I can bring this up with my weedeater and chainsaw and really get stuff cleaned up. And we can log it again to more than pay for this thing. :)
I just hope it really holds up. I've seen it parked outside Lowe's all the time and just assumed it was a toy and not a "real" UTV. But apparently it is.

I'm not being a Dick or anything, but you're Knit picking.. the handles on the doors can be adjusted, the little handle beside the seat can be taken off or cut off, the shifter can also be adjusted on the linkage, The rubbers on the doors aren't going to last forever,, just like a bungy cord, they eventually break as well. The floor on the other hand, Yep, I'll agree with you there. They should've used something besides plastic, maybe a 11ga sheet metal or something like that, oil filter and drain plug, shouldn't have been that tight, know nothing big inner to tighten them down that tight. Good deal after 2yrs it's still running overall very well. Thanks for the review

I took the doors/windshield off immediately. Oil filter will need a newer style filter to be taken off with a socket versus a old style wrench. Small things like this makes life easier not to mention where you place your hands while closing any door. Pay attention to.small details and it will make life easier and yes, you can pay twice as much for a honda or a Polaris...

Similar to many people viewing your video, I am looking to get the best machine for the money but am admittedly cautious about Chinese made machines. Yes, I’m aware that the company has a large and nice looking plant in Texas, but that alone doesn’t assure quality. Hopefully this proves to be a nice and durable product!

I bought one in 2014. I have had good luck with it for the most part. I had to replace the battery twice in 6 years. I agree the floor boards could be better. Most that i have seen did not come with power steering but it is a option and i added it to mine. It is well worth the $600 ish price. You can turn mine with one finger now. I had to replace the tires on mine and i went with a different brand to limit the damage to the ground the tires do. I do not like the live axel and wish it was limited slip.
The arm piece on the seat can be removed with just a few bolts. I did that but put it back on because of the slop of the paths i ride on. It keeps you in the seat but it is a pain at times.

I've got one, remove the doors, why mess with them. Positive traction? Turn it off, it has a button . Easy. ??? Oil filter the 1st time, I agree. Floor, I use this everyday, not a issue yet.? Gears I agree, at times tough, I rarely have to gear down. Its recommended to drive and keep on High. I live out on the wilderness where the terrain cannot not be tougher, not a problem on high, it pulls right through. I took them doors and windshield off immediately after I bought it, dont miss them at all. As for that handle on your seat, I've had to hold on for dear life at times, I dont mind it one bit. Overall I'll agree with you, its affordable and so far it's been a good machine, I've been in places where no car or truck can, I do. Enjoy.

Most of the things you are knit picking on is also called wear and tear. EPS is not standard on all models and make, adjust the shift linkage that will help shift better. I have a 2018 Hisun 500 and on the first year after warranty, fuel pump went, I just shut up and bought a new one, no complaining here, these suckers take a lot of beating and still keep on running. Fun to ride and it is an expensive hobby just like a boat or anything else like that. Buck up.

@@burnsfarm4567 That sucks! While barely broken in my generator almost ran out oil twice. Fortunately it had a low oil shutdown sensor. Couldn't believe it used so much oil. Finally figured out the carburetor float got sticky from sitting around. Gas was running through the carb and into the engine oil while it was in storage. Diluted oil burns fast in even a new engine. Bad sparkplugs can have the same affect but not as severe.

It was bought at Tractor Supply, and trying to get a filter from them or anything else was none and void.
Then trying to see why works on these things was same. I live in Picayune,Ms. To where there is no one to work on them. I need to do something about this running rich. If I can't find someone or some idea to alleviate the problem I'll have to start changing parts,,(if I can get them).

You get what you pay for. If you want a Honda quality machine then you have to pay a Honda quality price.

2 bolts removes the brace on the drivers side and have you heard of grease you do know you have to grease the latches ! I have one and they sell a filter wrench for these that is simple to remove the filter and the block is aluminum if you warm the engine the plug removes easily ! Sounds like the machine is excellent you are just picky and not very mechanical ! This is a Yamaha clone its identical to a Yamaha even the parts interchange these are great machines if that's the only problem you have with a utv count your blessings ! SMH

I agree on what you might need it for but you got to use a little common sense to I am not knocking you at all about it but I've seen some people do some crazy things over the years I wish your dad the very best

Your complaints are all just adjustments, pretty common with Chinese stuff. Also, the "power steering" isn't going to work with the engine off. Now the floor thing? Yeah, that's weak!

The plastic floor is a potentially serious hazzard. Im considering a Massimo but after seeing this,,, if i buy one i would have to install some metal for safety. Running over sticks is a common thing but with that thing its like playing russian roulette.

My in-laws have ordered one of these turds for my Son as a gift. They already have one and asked me if I minded them getting one for him. Hard to say no without looking like an ungrateful punk and calling the one they have a POS. But I am sure dreading bringing this waste of money home. No dealer support available like you'd have from a "real" manufacturer. Im really hoping TSC calls and says this outfit has been closed down or gone outta business and wont be able to fill the order and I'll just pay whatever boot necessary to get my Son a real SxS like a Pioneer, Ranger, or even a Deere.

Tell them you found a real good deal on a used Honda that your son is in love with.

@@burnsfarm4567 I wish I would have thought of that. But it caught me off guard by them even asking so I was a stuttering idiot and said "OK, thats cool". Oh well. But after picking it up and having it for a month or better, I can confirm it is truly a genuine turd-mobile. LOL They're weak as water and there's no way I'd even consider taking it off road into some of the 4wheeler trails we have here in TN. If there is anyone out there in Cyberville considering buying one of these things, dont do it. Such a waste of money (thank goodness it wasnt mine). HAHAHA

Double D Ranch... these little SxS are fucking great. Had mine for a year now and no issues at all so far, great power..climbs better than any Honda I've ever had, and I'm a Honda guy, but gotta give the hisun 500 credit it's a beast.

Man, it must suck to have your in-laws buy your son a brand new side by side. I'll be sure to mention that to my son when he gets a birthday card with $10 from his grandparents this year.
