Best player ever with our shirt, club legend and the true King and great contributor to the second european cup, though. Another fact is that most Benfiquistas(especially the older ones) have a tremendous respect for Guttmann despite the curse... he gave us the two most important trophies in our history and curses are just supersticion... that being said it's always in the back of our heads.. but personally I prefer to see what he gave us rather than what he said in moment of anger... other thing is Guttmann wasn't the one who went and brought Eusébio to Portugal... there's a whole story about that signing and a dispute with sporting for the player wich with some research would make for a very cool story for a video ;) anyways excelent video and content, keep going!!!

That final against Sevilla is on par for the biggest robberies in European football. I don't think I've ever been more frustrated at a game than that one. 3 or 4 penalties not given, 2 red cards not given, Beto being allowed to defend penalties at the penalty spot almost... I'd put it top 3 in European football robberies, along with Barça vs Chelsea and Sporting vs Schalke 04 (another one that doesn't get talked a lot, but every Schalke goal was an invalid goal, they scored 4 of them...)
Felix Brych is the thief's name. What happened with him? He was the chosen referee for the next European supercup. Of all of Benfica's finals, we were only favorites on 2: against AC Milan in the sixties (we were two time European champions and Milan were underdogs) and against Sevilla. On that match against Sevilla, there were 3 penalty not given by Brych, only one of those is debatable. The other two were flagrant and would result in a red card to Fazio at the end of the first half. Again, before that Sevilla final match, an English ref took 3 players out of the final (Enzo Perez, Salvio and Markovic) wrongly. All of them could play as right midfielder. On that final, the right midfielder was Sulejmani (who played very little that season) and he too was taken out of the game because of a horrible tackle from Alberto Moreno on the 15th minute. So, despite all these unbelievable facts, Benfica still dominated the game and should have broken the curse that night in Torino. We will win an European cup again, although it seems pretty far from happen now, but Karma owes us, big time.

That was indeed a very well known curse for Racing Avellaneda. Back in the 1960's, arch rivals Independiente frustrated by the success of their neighbours, buried 8 cats in their stadium and they were never able to win another argentinian title nor copa libertadores. Keep in mind that when this happened, Racing were south american champions and argentinian champions as well. After many years of trying to find the dead cats, only recently after the fans once again start digging, could they find the last cat and guess what? Racing were champions again. Go figure...
In Colombia we have something similar with a club called America de Cali. They had lost 4 Copa Libertadores finals due to the curse of a former manager, it's called "Garabato's curse"

We got robbed in the final vs Sevilla. In that year they also tried to get us knocked out against juvenile making us finish the game with 9 players on the field. Our CB was ready to get back on the field and the refs kept him out until the final whistle. Then in the final Moreno recklessly slide tackled sulejmani leaving him with a concussion and didn’t even get a yellow card.
As a Benfica fan its sad to see so many finals lost, its sad to be present on the last 2 finals lost and another 2 with youth league. Sadly we only have team to compete in europe league, because we have the problem with clubs with money steal our best players and its difficult to form a good team, we have to develop new players again to compete. That curse is a myth, because what Bela Gutman realy said after win the cup two times with Benfica was that "any portuguese team will ever be able to win the champions cup again" , and he was wrong, because FC Porto as already win that competition twice.

My Grandmother told me many times that story... She told me that Bella Guttman asked Benfica Direction to build a statue to his honor, but the direction denied it. That statue was finally built in 2014, before the final against Sevilla.

We got robbed in the final vs Sevilla. In that year they also tried to get us knocked out against juvenile making us finish the game with 9 players on the field. Our CB was ready to get back on the field and the refs kept him out until the final whistle. Then in the final Moreno recklessly slide tackled sulejmani leaving him with a concussion and didn’t even get a yellow card.

As a Benfica fan its sad to see so many finals lost, its sad to be present on the last 2 finals lost and another 2 with youth league.
Sadly we only have team to compete in europe league, because we have the problem with clubs with money steal our best players and its difficult to form a good team, we have to develop new players again to compete.

You should do a video on Cruz Azul, their present situation is similar to Racing and Benfica's situation when they were "cursed". They've choked on so many finals and I think you would find their history very interesting as they're one of Mexico's biggest teams.

That curse is a myth, because what Bela Gutman realy said after win the cup two times with Benfica was that "any portuguese team will ever be able to win the champions cup again" , and he was wrong, because FC Porto as already win that competition twice.

Benfica also made a statue of Gutman in their stadium a few days before the last Europa League final to try to break the curse, but yeah nope. As a Benfica fan I'm now more or less used to the idea I'll never see them win in Europe ever.
It's not like Benfica lucked into being the European Finals every time and they were the underdog side...well,apart from the final against Chelsea. Benfica played good,sometimes even great,in the Finals,always a momentary lapse costing them the trophy so...yeah,that's a fucking curse.
