The original version was written by Avicii and Aloe Blacc, who also sings on the song. When writing the lyrics, Aloe Blacc said the following: "I started writing the lyrics at the top of 2013, traveling back from Switzerland. I started in hip hop music back in the 90s and I never expected to be singing and have an actual career as a musician, but I'm traveling all over the world and I thought 'Life is a dream, wake me up when it's all over'."

I😄 had to laugh when you paused the video and talked about how different this was from the usual Dirty Loops oeuvre...the instant before the Loops hammer dropped for one of the best outros ever. Amazing that you haven’t heard the original, one of the most played songs worldwide a few years ago. Fun fact: DL opened for Avicii at one time and they were really NOT appreciated. Wrong audience for them..

Sometimes though people dont come out of ”being lost”, not feeling well and finding their place in life and it may end up really tragic like it did for Avicii 😔
Before listening to the DL version of this song I had never heard the original version.
Listening to it afterwards and then comparing the two versions, was interesting.

Yeah, this song starts so chilled and nostalgic.
For me it has some melancholic over/undertones, maybe also knowing about Avicii…
