How to reset and calibrate HVAC flaps in VW Climatronic (Golf, Passat, Jetta, Scirocco, Touran)

- Having trouble with Volkswagen Climatronic System? Something is knocking under the dashboard? Try reseting the air ventilation flaps! During this quick and simple procedure all flaps will move to calibrate maximum range and current position. This should fix some of the problems in your Passat B6, Golf MK5, Touran, Jetta or other VAG car.

Works on passat b8 too.
Had the blower motor fail on my MK 7.5. I was also getting an error that the recir flap was jammed. Performing this reset corrected it.

Hi. Thanks for the video, I have 2006 2ltr 140HP VW Passat.
Hot air flow only to the windscreen and front and legs flow just warm air.
Any help will be highly welcome.
If flaps reset/adaptation doesn't help, then most likely you need to fix/replace flap motor/servo. With diagnostic interface you should be able to determinate which one causes those issues.
You have a problem with the heat radiator situated near the pedals. And try to use a better coolant.
What reset buttons if you dont have the automatic AC, and just the more simple on/off AC system? ....I change fan position with a screw nob and not buttons.
Make sure the blower motors off and if you have an off switch have that engaged for me I held down the AC and recirculation button and it started flashing and I can hear the motor move I have a 2015 GTI SE

This works on my 2012 passat, too bad its not the issue. My issue seems to be the blend door. :(

Self-test should also perform flaps reset.
I have a 2017 passat this didnt help me my car still blows hot on the driver and icy on the passenger any advise?
So tell me what you do when basic settings don't stick in a new actuator.hd v158 jam and no basic settings.replaced.it works.but obdeleven won't stick on calibration .neither will manual running.still getting no basic settings.brand new actuator.
Mines still not blowing out hot air, I've done the diagnostics on the climate control panel and temperature sensors seems to be reading normally, set points seem correct but no hot air at all, did this procedure and heard motors moving around seemingly ok, what could it be? Trying to work out if it's the flapper or heater control valve?

+melo beaSt didn't tested it in Astra H, but check out our video from Vectra B. There's a calibration procedures that might work in other Opel cars.
+mr-fix Thanks but I don't have an Off-Button. But it is not important. All works fine, but sometimes it makes a loud click noise. But it is very infrequently and short. It is a rattle from the flaps.

Ok so gti MK6 2010. Climstronic turns on no air comes out. I’ve tried that sequence and nothing happens?

Most likely you entered diagnostic menu. Ignition off and on and it should be back to normal.
Hi, I have problems with heating my right side of the car (Passat B6 2010.). Left side is working properly, but when I turn on heating on the right side, it blows preety cold air. I was on diagnostic and it doesnt show any errors, but when you turn on the heating on both sides on MAX, the left side temperature shows 47,3 C (what is OK), and the left side shows 21,3 C (what is too cold). Does anyone knows what is the problem.

you need to change a heater under the dashboard
Clogged heater core you can try flush or replace [on this model I believe you have to remove dashboard]
I have Skoda Octavia2 (2008). when I turn on defogger it blows cold air on driver side's vent (Right hand drive) and windsheild remains foggy from outside, I have to put on wiper to remove fog every 3 secs. On passenger it blows hot air in defogger mode as it should, no fog whatsoever. What might be the problem and how to fix this. Thanks in advance.
Most likely one of the flaps is stuck or broken.

Hi, i don't know how the mechanism looks in your car, but most cars with manual HVAC don't have anything to calibrate or reset since it all controlled directly with the control knobs.

I think we have a problem with the potentiometer on the heat control: it seems to be leaving the heat flap open when the dial is turned all the way to coldest. All indications with diagnostics suggest the compressor and air con are working ok. Frustrating.
