  • Hey, guys! Here's four ingredients for creating great tones on the Line 6 POD HD 500x. If you're looking to UP your tone game, this is a good place to start.
    Here's where you can download the edit software. You'll need to search for 'POD HD500x Edit' under the software tab. Make sure you select your computer's operating system too. Also download the 'Line 6 Monkey' so that you can get the proper drivers.

    I love this basic an clearly and slowly presented lesson. And yes... please continue with more. I've pulled me HDX-500 out of the closet recently and realized I still don't know how to get the most out of using it. YOUR lessons are helping a lot. Please don't get bored doing them. :)

    3 years after this is made is still relevant, thank you. Just got a variax jtv, so picked up the 500x and then a IR cab loader. The pod and cab box saved me £650 than if buying a helix. Bit fiddly but that’s been the way all my guitar playing years so no sweat. Thanks again

    Please keep making these videos dude. I’ve always been an analog pedalboard and amp kind of guy but recently sold it all off, pocketed a lot of the money and got a 500x for the sake of convenience and simplicity. I’ve already watched like 5 of these videos and it helps a lot. Cheers

    Your videos have been super helpful. I’ve been evolving in my use over time. At first, I used it as a pedalboard only using effects and volume pedal through the front of the amp.
    Then, I got a Variax and realized that I could select the Variax models and alternate tunings with the push of a preset, I was all over presets for each song, or parts of a song. I’m now taking one guitar and seamlessly switching between Tele & LP sounds with various effects & alternate tunings for slide.
    Recently, I decided to start bypassing my tube amp’s preamp section by running the HD into the amp’s effects return. I’m now modeling amp preamps with no cabs and using my tube amp as a power amp and cab. Even more tone flexibility with all of my preamp, effects, guitar, and tuning selections at my feet. I love it & it eliminates all of the gripes I had with my amp’s pre-amp section.

    Hey brother I just got my Pod hd500x but started watching your videos a couple of months ago. I play worship and your videos are more helpful than the line six channel. Question ... does it matter how I set up my fax chain on my Pod? And as a worship player how should I set it up. Thanks a lot brother. Happy New Year

    I hope you or some of your viewers can help me. I saw somewhere that there is an effect model in the HD500X that slowly increases the gain on a held chord, with the introduction of harmonics and just a hint of feedback. My desired effect is similar to the end of "Two Tickets To Paradise". My 500x has all the extra model packs.

    Jon, at about 1:25 you make a statement about needing to update drivers if we have updated OS on the Mac. Are you saying the Pod 500X will work with IOS Catalina? I received an email from Line 6 awhile back saying they would not update drivers for Catalina. I have not updated to Catalina yet because of that. Can you share what you know about that?

    • @JonEleyetGuitar
      @JonEleyetGuitar  4 роки тому

      Hi, Barry. I had updated only to High Sierra, so the drivers were still compatible. That's a bummer to hear that Line 6 is no longer supporting the 500x. I guess you'll have to decide how much the features in Catalina are worth to you :/ Although, you could see if anyone has an older Macbook or Windows laptop that they'd be willing to give away or sell cheap. Then you could run an older OS on it and have the Line 6 editor on it. Maybe that's a lot of work, but it's at least an option.

    I just want to put this out there , I have a Pod HD 500X and I was getting a lot of hissing/background noise from my Amp, that was hooked up to the pod. I almost went crazy trying to figure out what was causing this sound. After many hours of trouble shooting turns out I had the USB plugged into the wrong port on my computer. Switched it and the sound disappeared.

    Hey Jon!
    A friend on facebook was selling his 500X and remembering your videos I instantly bought it, but I can't make it sound good, it sounds really bad to my ears no matter what I do, straight to the amp, 4 cable method, headphones, XLR. I'm starting to regret buying it (I'm playing the factory presets). Do you do post processing to your recordings? Or do I need to tweak all the parameters? If that's the case, could you make a video teaching us how to get a good sound out the 500X? When comparing your sound with just the J-800 amp cab, I can tell right away that my sound is muddy and cheap, it doesn't sound as good as your sound.
    Thanks Jon!

    • @JonEleyetGuitar
      @JonEleyetGuitar  4 роки тому +1

      Hey, sorry to hear you're bummed on the tones. I really try to keep the post processing to a minimum in my videos. But, yeah I usually tweak a lot of the settings of the 500x effects. For a test, begin with a totally empty preset. Then add the J-800 amp model. Set the drive to 30%, bass to 30%, treble to 70%, and the presence to 70%. How does that sound? Also make sure that you're not using the J-800 pre (the preamp version). If that still sounds off, check out my video called, Need Help With The Line 6 POD HD500x. Around 14:41 I talk about some internal settings on the 500x that you may need to tweak. Let me know how it goes.

    • @thearno2885

      The effect of SAG is like having a compressor with a slow attack. The result of more Sag is more attack and therefore more punch. That’s all you need to ‘know.

    • @rickbendel
      @rickbendel 4 роки тому

      He may be set to studio/direct, whereas you're probably set to Combo Front..or one of the others. Remember the sound will only be as good as the amp your pushing it with. A good rule of thumb when using an external amp is try using one of the Pre's, and set your amp knobs (bass/mid/treble)around 12:00. Where your knobs are on your amp is going to drastically effect the tone, so his setting (bass/mid/treble) will be much different from what you get at the same position.

    Tone question? I have a board setup clean using the line 6 version of a fender twin. The signal is so low through the board at church I can even use it. Any idea how to increase the volume level but keeping the clean integrity of the amp model I selected?

    • @JumpySplash689
      @JumpySplash689 4 роки тому

      kyler1969 you can check several details on the board that can help you... For only the general volume you can raise the volume of the channel, and also the "master" of the Amp, that is a parameter accessible in the Amp settings... Then you have the master knob of the pod... If you already checked all of this things but is signal is still too low, I suggest you to put the switch of 1/4' cable to line position (if you're using that output)... Another solution is putting an eq pedal after the Amp and boost only the volume, same thing you can do with a compressor. If also this is not your solution I have another one: using a regular patch cable you can link the "send-return" and put the "fx loop" effect in the chain after the Amp, then you can raise the volume on the return... Hope I could help you, let me know! (Excuse my bad english, I'm not used to it😅)
