The RC-F is the perfect luxury performance coupe. It can both go fast and remain comfortable/reliable at the same time. Even though it's looks are polarizing, when you see one on the highway (especially at night) it instantly catches your attention. Also, there's a proper N/A V8 in there, not some boring twin turbo 6-cylinder. I really love the RC-F.
+senorgato70 that's what you get for having a larger n/a engine, it's kinda common sense. All said an done it's the last of its kind being a n/a v8 even the c63s is twin turboed.
+senorgato70 That is true but it's likely to be more reliable, and the super usable powerband and great sound are good arguments if you really don't care much about those numbers
Corbin Goodwin I think he was talking about English. Cuz UNC had the whole football scandal. What school do you go to that has Formula as a class though?
I drove this car when it first came out and I absolutely loved it. It doesn't feel heavy nor does it feel large. This thing puts a smile on your face. Just because you can find a lighter car with more power from a different manufacturer you won't care. You feel like a rockstar in this.
I'd disagree. FRS/BRZ's rearlights have circular, round-ish design, while RCF's are more angular and agressive. The only similarity I could spot is the general shape of black part of rear bumpers in both cars.
My son had one which I drove while he was offshore. Beautiful, powerful but refined, and with exhilarating engine sound, especially at start up. Superb.
There is no speaker playing a V8 sound. That's an intake acoustics channel that opens up into the Cabin like the LFA. You should get more information before you state that inaccurate statement.
Reference Channel how is that funny? BMW channels “fake engine noise” through speakers, VW does it too with a soundaktor which vibrates the windshield.
That IR glass thing is stupid good. I live in Phoenix, and my parent's ES350H that I drove last summer has that. In 115 degree heat, the interior didn't get no where near as hot as you'd expect. I know it's not a Lexus only thing either, so if you live in a damn hot state I highly recommend getting that stuff. Other than that, I'm pleasantly surprised by this video, other than the LFA of course I never really expected anything out of Lexus that had that 'oomph'. Good video as always.
Well...Now that you mention it. The Japanese tried to again copy BMW. But again..lost. The lexus is Slower at 0-60. Is Slower in the quarter mile. Is Slower in the figure eight. Has lower G rating, Can't break as well. And last but not least...is Slower at the track. And we haven't even touched on the weirdo looks. Toyota should know by now...Copy cats never win.
@gipstet lets actually see you put down a quick laptime in the M4 compared to the RCF. I'd love to see you try to get an M4 around the track and actually put down a competent lap time. Lets not forget the Camaro 1le has beat the M4 by a couple seconds consistently around multiple tracks. The M4 is slow as hell. They tout performance credentials they do not have especially when a cheap 40k camaro puts it to shame. The RCF touts nothing, provides an experience and doesn't get hung up on creating a track car and instead gives you a luxury experience.
It's good to see a positive perspective on this car. I get the sense that despite Lexus making a statement of overtaking BMW, they still seem to be doing their own thing, as opposed to directly competing with the Germans. The GS-F is another example of this.
The RCF TVD and RC F LSD are two different driving experiences. With this all said, get Lexus to lend you a TVD in the spring and put that to the test on DRY roads. Unfortunately, no one will master the complexities of this car in a brief test drive. The RC F competes had-to-head with the M4 and RS5. It just may be the best luxury performance coupe in the world in its price class.
The looks are beautiful. I'd buy one for a comfortable luxury car with aggressive styling. BMW is getting boring to me nowadays. That's just my personal opinion though. Although, given the chance, I'd take an SL500 over the RCF. However the grill of the RCF gets me everytime. Looks bad on camera but much better in real life. Also, the grill has slight design changes from the RC F-Sport model and the RCF which is pretty nice. I enjoy the RX F Sport that I currently have as well as the IS350C. Definitely will get the RCF (or LC500) in the near future. Great review dude!
I have a rc 350 f sport, it's a nice car, aggressive but not fast. Litterally everything is the same with the rc f, except the engine. It's unique that's the only thing that it has going for it. I hope to get a faster car later on because speed is king
Funny you mention the gearbox, I found it pretty great actually. In auto in Sport+ mode it would shift really close to redline, downshift early and the shifts themselves were quite quick, especially upshifts (well, not as fast as a DCT, but the difference wasn't day and night). While cruising it was really smooth, but in the sportest setting it would kinda kick you in the back. Now what I found weird was that the gearing is quite long for a 8-speed car. I mean, 160kmh/100mph in third gear is pretty long, and you have 5 more gears to play with. Anyways, I really liked the car, I drove it in similar conditions and wasn't scary at all. You couldn't really feel the weight on the street. I really don't get why people shit on this car so much.
I take my car to the track and the 8spd trans works awesome! No, it’s not a dual clutch transmission but they have their own issues. In sport or sport+ modes the trans up shifts quite quickly and positively when hard on the throttle. I track it all day and no issues. Lexus reliability.
+SeverdSeouL NO No No No... stop the bashing of Dual clutches... it's probably more difficult to operate in perfection. one has to know the individual cars... gear shift points, behavior.
+weirdshibainu agreed, but Lexus hasn't put a manual transmission in their vehicles (at least in the US) since the last gen IS 250, and that presumably had a very low take rate. Even Acura (once known as an enthusiast manual transmission loving brand) has removed manual transmissions from their entire lineup of vehicles.
+weirdshibainu I totally agree, and sincerely hope that at least a few manufacturers continue to make the effort to provide the public with manual transmission equipped vehicles, or better yet, vehicles with no automatic option. If there was an automatic offered, often it's a huge burden when purchasing secondhand to find a clean manual-equipped example. At least cars like the Mustang GT350 and Cayman GT4 offer some hope that the enthusiast community is still very much interested in purchasing manual-equipped vehicles new.
I have the rc 350 f sport. Definitely one of the best cars I've ever owned, underpowered, but it is an amazing car. Definitely want to get a quick 5k together and trade it in for the RC F
Guys im from Romania and owning a car like this with a 5.0 v8 is expensive i think like 3500-4500 $ but i realy want this car and i am willing to pay for It Long live the v8
I have the RC 350 F Sport AWD. Primarily to drive in snow. Although the BMW I had was faster. This car is reliable and looks and feels amazing on the inside, and the Mark Levinson System sounds great. I just felt the BMW repairs made me feel that people enjoyed the appearance of it more than I did owning it.
This is getting a lot of stick from all the Top Gear fanboys since Top Gear reviewed this car and said it was heavy, slow and rubbish, and btw they were comparing it against a LFA, not fair really is it?
The pavement was wet when you were accelerating in the atsv. Whereas here it was dry. I’m also curious what tires were on both cars. The v8 in the Lexus brings on power a little less in your face than the caddy. Either way I love this rcf and would buy it before I ever bought a caddy. Only because of Toyota’s famous reliability.
Just found this channel and in love! If you could find a way to review / test drive the 2016 Lexus GS F I'd never stop watching your videos for remainder of eternity. If you could find the red interior too.... OMG. YAAAAS
Lexus has the best traction and stability control. I have a 2007 IS300 and I thought that it's traction control would be mediocre but its far from that, its really aggressive and doesn't let that back end get an inch sideways.
I know you did state in text at the lower corner of screen but don't do a 0 to 60 on a hill! Other than that, keep doing your reviews! I really love the way you explain things and are unbiased and you seem to have a passion for any vehicles you test ,good or bad! That's what I like to watch anyway!
if the car was 800lbs lighter with rear seats that can fold down with faster transmission or optional six speed transmissio then its worth the price tag. its over weight and slightly overpriced. styling isnt bad at all but hopefully lexus make a nimble version of this.
***** The LC is their Halo car, and just happens to be a GT as well. You can have GT cars in different segments... Look, the Wraith is pretty much a GT, and so is the 650i Coupe. Yet the Bimmer costs 3 times less, and is not quite as big. They tried to compete against the germans taking a new approach, that could've worked if people took a different approach of the segment... Lexus wanted to make a pure car, with nice handling, without trying to be the fastest around the Nürb (which in fact is pretty stupid), but with a very thrilling experience, dominated by the 5.0l V8. It is pretty much the definition of a GT.
+Kaisuke971 i would have to disagree. lexus rc f competes against the more nimble bmw m4 and the heavy audi rs5. lexus rc f wasn't marketed as a gt car when it has some characteristics of a gt car.
MetalsForBrunch Well they sell it as a GT car. They do not claim incredible lap times and incredible performances, they claim good performances, great comfort, and feel. That's why they sell the RC F, and it's good at it: you have to feel great behind the wheel, not just know it can lap the Nürb in whatever minutes. I think you have a toned down version of what a GT car can be actually. Yes a GT car can be the Continental GT. But it also can be the Aston martin Vanquish (573hp V12), the F12 (740hp V12... yes it's a supercar but also a big GT), the F-Type R (violent 5.0 Supercharged 550hp V8), or the 911 Turbo (yeah it is indeed the GT 911) ! GT Cars are not only big boats ;)
There isn't plastic covering everything under the hood! It would have been nice to see a launch without traction control as well, but that's because I'm on youtube and I'll always want something more. Great video.
This is a luxury sports car you can be confident in buying. Those other brands like BMW might be faster and lighter but will not be nearly as reliable as this Lexus. It also focuses more on the luxury aspect which is fine for most people because only about 10% of people who get these luxury sports cars actually use them on the track.
+Amin Sabourian This shows you exactly how much of an actual motor sport fan you are. Turbocharging has more complexity but always ends up getting tamped down because they tend to dominate. Turbos are better period. To make the kind of power most modified turbos make you need serious displacement or the ability to turn a ton of RPM which washes away torque, there's no free lunch.
+Daniel Kemnitz LFA is a supercar! we talking about sport cars, At least it sounds better than the BMW's 6 cylinder or Mercedes Benz's 4 cylinder engine, and let's face it most of automotive companies using the fake engine noise these days! believe me real engine noise can be so annoying sometimes! just like Alfa Romeo 4C or lotus exige s
Umm, "splitting the sound frequencies" is actually NOT what a world class sound system should do. You definitely DONT want to hear the frequencies "split up". Lol.
As additional commentary, the cars tranny is extremely fast when properly set up. In the TVD, the driver should select track, sport+, and expert mode. The RC F was made to be redlined all day if that's your thing. Simply tach the beast up, and it will never let you down. With regard to the M4, it's beaten the M4 on plenty of tracks-including the Road & Track PCOTY testing ( and lots of others including the RS5 as well).
lol, I remember 800watts was crazy, that was in 1996. Now it comes in a car. This car is 4000 pounds, wow. I saw a 2010 caddy DTS in this snow storm, it was going pretty fast with no problems
I really like this car and appreciate a review that doesn't knock it for not being some hard riding track beast. Since not many performance vehicles will see any track time, I feel it's road manners are extremely important. As far as the looks go, I find it to be unmistakably Asian in a very good way.
You have the coolest job! I find it so interesting to see you reviewing all your cars on roads I drive quite often. Those are definitely nice roads for going for a drive, despite the low speed limits.
Nice review! You should review GS F next time. I know they use the exact same engine they put in RC F and it's more expensive than RC F which makes me a bit disappointed. But it's the fastest GS they ever produced periodically after all. The refined GS exterior is really nice too!
Let me pose a question; individuals want to compare horsepower and 0-60 times. When the speed limit is 65 does this fully matter? One can never fully enjoy nor handle extreme torque and horsepower. So what is the point?
+Vernon Price You rattled on, but did not answer the question posed. And I highly doubt you can afford this vehicle. Even if you can...why? Speed limit is 65 in most states. A $12,000 litre bike will destroy even the most exotic supercar. If you are concerned about speed by a motorcycle. But, again I highly doubt you can ride...so be a good consumer and buy your "racecar" which you can buy based on a man's opinion on UA-cam.
+Vernon Price It's litre not liter..but anyways. I'm not arguing for this car..my question is why does horsepower matter? You argue for it, but as I stated any litre bike would destroy any supercar made. So just purchase a litre bike....but you cannot ride so you need four wheels. And with a name like Vernon you are probably an infraction so your argument is invalid.
Day 463 and I still cant figure out whether he's 25 or 52
lmao!
He's. 874 years old, that's how he picked up so much information on engineering.
+Wehiremonkeys you're right, he a vampire, or day walker I mean.
+TheAventadorSV Comment of the Year so far! :-)
Khawar Asif Thanks :)

Boring is subjective.
how much is it?
And it's slower than those 6's and gets worse mpg
+senorgato70 that's what you get for having a larger n/a engine, it's kinda common sense. All said an done it's the last of its kind being a n/a v8 even the c63s is twin turboed.
+senorgato70 That is true but it's likely to be more reliable, and the super usable powerband and great sound are good arguments if you really don't care much about those numbers
The fact that it is still running strong in 2020 when most BMW’s and Mercedes have VIP status at their local dealership service shops by this time.
Now fast-forward 4 years later most ATSV and M4 owner returned their lease and most rcf and gsf owner paid out their lease lol.
not only that but our cars are still worth 2X the RISIDUAL! lol.
Fast forward another 4yrs how's it holding up?
I’m actually wondering the same thing ??
0:40 "Saturn doesn't exist anymore" I googled "did the planet saturn blow up?" I feel so stupid.
+VegaGT500 ROFL i googled it too and now I realized it... lol
+Isaias Tepox..... what does it mean
+Isaias Tepox nevermind found out
He's talking about the car company Saturn lol the shape is similar to a old Saturn coupe..Google the old Saturn coups
saturn is car company
Picked up a 17' Lexus RC-F in white with the red interior for a great deal. I am quite happy with it.
Idtelos that’s the one I’m getting! 😩😩😩 so sexy
Still like it?
Very much so. With current gas prices, my wallet not so much...still, I plan to keep it for a while longer.
@@Idtelossame here own GX460 mpg is not great but V8 is amaizing also looking for RCF just not sure if it is reliable?
@@luckyyou774it’s known to be very reliable. Lexus in general make such great cars. just picked one up the other day
"Look at these shapes, and these shapes." NC State English department did you well.
I only had to take one course for English. Maybe 20 with math haha.
Engineering Explained By the way, did you do the Wolfpack Motorsport club? I'm thinking of joining to do Formula SAE
+Jackisaboss1208 At least it's an actual class, unlike UNC.
+Adam Baker It's a class at the school I go to and I really wish it wasn't, really hurts the product.
I LOVE my Lexus RC! I get compliments every where I go! I have zero regrets buying it! Its such a sexy car!!!
Wich year did you get?
Want the 350 F sport, def sexy coupes.
the new lexus design is really growing on me
Yeah, I thought the front grill was weird, but I'll admit it's growing on me too.
+Carl Sagan looks like a brz from behind
+Jaheel Frederick From which angle exactly?
the rear lights on the trunk imho
I'd disagree. FRS/BRZ's rearlights have circular, round-ish design, while RCF's are more angular and agressive.
The only similarity I could spot is the general shape of black part of rear bumpers in both cars.
Actually this is one of the prettiest luxury cars

Great video Jason! I'm loving the sound system in the RC350 I've been driving too!

purchased a 2015 rcf a couple of days ago, it's a blast to drive. even more with an aftermarket exhaust

The styling is awesome. I was just at the Lexus dealer yesterday and saw it in person.

Speak of styling, I'd commit the best looking cars are Lexus RC F series and BMW 4 series M sport.
Have you ever listened to a Bang and Olufsen system in an A8? I've not listened to a new Lexus yet, but the B&O system is heaven.
I LOVE Lexus, and the RCF, but for the price it's really hard not to just get a Cayman

GT Cars are not only big boats ;)
agreed too heavy and. I like lexus.
There isn't plastic covering everything under the hood! It would have been nice to see a launch without traction control as well, but that's because I'm on youtube and I'll always want something more. Great video.
Beautiful vehicle.
I wonder if you had it in SPORT mode, the AA80 is quick shifting when sport mode is activated
Personally I would gladly take the RCF over it’s German competitors.
This is the best intro EE has has ever done!
'The Atkinson cycle is cool' Ha!
Difference between this car and let's say M4 or CLA45 is that, this one have a real racing engine it screams
+Amin Sabourian
A screaming engine alone doesn't make a racing car
+Max Power Yes you're right, but this car can easily be modified to be a race car
+Amin Sabourian That would be the LFA ;) if this was a true screamer they wouldn'thave to channel engine noise through the speakers :b
"Look at these shapes, and these shapes." Very nice. Very Clarkson-esque.
Suggestion...Take a breath...Your delivery is just constant. My head hurts lol...slow it down.
The interior and center console look almost identical to my is250. I wish I had those seats as well They look sweet.
I want to crack the engine sound system and replace the sound files with the McLaren f1 sounds from Need For Speed 2
I love the aesthetics of this car, inside and out, funny video man!!!
1 Reason this car is bad:
1.) Jeremy Clarkson said it was
emark24 sheep detected
Fine with me. Hopefully it'll devalue to 15k within af ew years then.
Engineering Explained. Explain the speaker giving engine sounds please. Is it real and how does it work?
For 75 grand I'll take a stingray
+Braden McHenry you silly american.
+AntLicious jokes on the Europeans who are too ignorant to realize the c7 is a world class sports car
Braden McHenry Exactly. Corvettes have been good sports cars since 1984. Even Randy Pobst(spelling?) agrees.
+Braden McHenry MSRP for a RC-F is less than $63k.
+xuimod as tested price. Fluidly loaded stingray is 75 g's
1:25 so I don’t need to install a catch can?
Excellent. You review and present very well. Your speech is super clear and fast packed with data. Impressive.
+M DOSD Thanks!
lol, I remember 800watts was crazy, that was in 1996.
My friend had a RC F 350 and it's trim is goals
Blackpanthaa, you made a good choice, mate! :)
This guy (Presenter) is increadibly informative. Great Work!!!
Amazing car. Excellent video. Regards from Argentina
This channel is awesome, I have learned so much and I am still learning.Keep up the good work.
Shoutouts to parents and calling out fuel economy haters--quality savagery. Great job!
How does it perform on wet and snowy roads?
Are the fender-vents functional or cosmetic?
You have the coolest job! I find it so interesting to see you reviewing all your cars on roads I drive quite often. Those are definitely nice roads for going for a drive, despite the low speed limits.
i'm only 1:10 into the video, and I've already had to pause this TWICE after bursting out laughing! Love the review mate!
you should do like an rta test in your extra channel and have a set song with a set volume level relative to the cars. if that makes any sense.
Real good video! Have enjoyed all of your engineering explained and now these videos being a car guy
Nice review! You should review GS F next time. I know they use the exact same engine they put in RC F and it's more expensive than RC F which makes me a bit disappointed. But it's the fastest GS they ever produced periodically after all. The refined GS exterior is really nice too!
What about the regular RC350, RC250 etc? Are they any good?
+Kyde Manfred See video description! :)
+Engineering Explained Maybe a dumb question, but how would you compare the regular RC350 to the Accord V6 2015, in terms of performance?
