- v1.3 comes after v2.7. Trust me, this is a newer kit. Features, functionality, and install are largely identical compared to v2.6 and v2.7 ribbons. Some v2.7 ribbons came with the same OSD firmware that is available on this kit. Biggest difference between this kit and the older v2.7 kits (with the OSD firmware) is the position and alleged reliability of the touch sensor. Per funnyplaying, touch sensor performance should be improved.

I made a mistake in the video. If you connect up the start and select buttons, you can disable the touch sensor and still retain full controls of the kit.
Hold SS: Open and close OSD
Press Select: decrement option
Press Start: increment option
Hold Select: go to option to the left
Hold Start: go to option to the right
How do you disable the touch sensor? Just clip it off with a side cutter?

I came to find out that the FP big square sticker for the back of the LCD is absolutely mandatory, without that I had carzy lightleaks to be seen everywhere through my transparent shell, unless thats the "glowy" look you're going for I highly recommend placing the sticker very close to the upper edge of the Display, thats where I had the most light pass through.

Blerg, I picked up one of these kits a few weeks back from RGS for a new modded GBC but it didn’t come with this new ribbon cable. I guess it’s luck of the draw which ribbon cable we get with these kits.
Yeah, pretty much. Usually the plain black (dark gray) lens variants get updated more quickly but yeah it's 100% timing based on current inventory levels.
Wish this screen would work in the FPGBC. Love the illuminated logo.
Well, technically the screen is usable. The FPGBC just won't illuminate the logo. You can get laminated Q5 LCDs with regular logos and swap those in but that doesn't really help here, I suppose.

GBC playtime is 10hrs, GB has 30hrs.
On modern batteries, GBC is easily double that. I've got runtime tests with an IPS kit averaging 13 hours so a stock console should get much more.
Ok I got mildly excited about R, G and B but it's only the logo color 😒
This was my first GBC mod, I was scared to do it since you didn't have a video on it yet lol. In case anyone is wondering, this is on the fp website under retro pixel 2.0 but the ribbon cable says 1.3
Btw makho, I didn't connect the power wire bc it works without it, is there a difference whether you connect it or not?
As I mentioned in the video, connecting the power wire allows for higher brightness levels.
Why Funnyplaying or any other company still not made a original size (2.45) IPS screen for GBC?
Because the bigger screens look better
