I really like the videos on this channel more. Granted I don't play league so I don't have any need for guides, but the unhinged commentary and chat really bring it all together. It's kinda weird seeing professional Pekin in comparison.
Honestly i think my first impression on smolder is that his stacks do legit nothing if you are ever caught in a 1v1 except give you abysmal damage until you hit 225 which feels awful maybe give you the burn earlier as magic damage around 100 stacks or so and upgrade it to true at 225
Im all for champs having basic abilities as in not overtuned mobility/dmg/cooldowns and tankiness combines cough cough ksante.... And half of their other champs made after about S5 or earlier... But smoulder is really boring, if they change his ult to something more fun, like an upgraded dragon then i could get on that boat...
That 2nd game, with Jhin which you crushed - your 'far shots' were so on-point it was amazing, had the teams so balanced *sarcasm*. Every lane crushing the enemy laner. Jungle was closer but your's was still noticeably better than the enemy's.
I actually got surprised when Pekin said that fed Smolder was rawdogged by a 0/6 Irelia with a bork as if it was a surprise, like, 95% of the adc cast would be rawdogged by any bruiser duelist champion with a bork no matter how behind they are lmao The intro was also pretty fire i laughed my ass off

Checked Smolder's ADC winrate because of this video. Funny enough he has a 50.5% Winrate in Diamond and Emerald EUW. In Plat and lower, he sports like a 46% winrate. This means that the champ completely failed to reach it's target audience of low-elo players, but that's honestly not surprising. Botlane just doesn't feel like a very new player friendly role.
I mean, i played a game in a d1 euw elo with smolder adc, he played it good, we hard won bot and yet he did no dmg until minute 30. In a perfect environment, mind you. Idk how can people think he is good

I agree with pecking Wolf regarding smolders current winrate right now. Also how he mentioned that Champions should be balanced around challenger gameplay because those players already know every facet of how the game works and can play at such a high level consistently. Therefore, their match history will reflect how good a champion is mechanically. Take Hecarim, Aatrox, or sylas for example. They're fucking strong and have the most one tricks, which is another mectric that can be used to prove how strong a champion is.

I'm a pretty big smolder fan. I play him p1 and i start d ring and with fleet as my keystone and dom second for ingenious. I've won 8 outta 9 bot lane. The game i lost my team ran it down i was 1/1/1. I get pretty bad supps and since i fp most of the time i usually face a lucian who makes laning phase hell cuz i dont beat him pretty much all game. I just focus on farming. I make that pretty clear so i don't get much jg help. I had 3 games where my team was running it and i was farming well so i kept saying no to the vote. Eventually we would group and id be 3 items in. Essence reaver, Navori and ionian boots with 225 stacks. We win the team fights off me. No matter how strong they are as long as they play to peel me i can carry the fights so we at least walk away even if not ahead. By the time i have my pen as 4th item and i'm working on my rfc im destroying them. If they are squishy my q auto does half their hp and if they are tanky im doing a quarter which im doing every other sec. I think his mid to late is very strong and very easy. He does so much damage and he snowballs cuz he executes everything. Last item i usually get some lifesteal. I go full crit. Haven't really tried the other builds but crit seems to be the way. If i was duoing id want a supp that plays defense like janna or something with sustain like alistar and nami. His laning phase sucks. Farm well and if your team is ahead he can secure the win. If your teams behind there's still hope.

Win rates don't show how strong a champion actually is. Especially when people are trying to figure it out.... stats don't mean anything without context. What builds, skill order, and play patterns are they using? Is there something that is op being hidden by all the trash players who have had 2 days to play it? Ardent censor was op for like 4 months when it came out before people began to use it. Does that mean. It was weak the whole time?
As a ailver player who played in silver with and against smolder many times, even in that elo he sucks ass, i have like an 90% winrate against him and like 10% winrate with him so even the silver dudes that say hes ok are on some shit cuz thats just aint true

Smolder was hitting them but it was like with a feather pillow or something. We never got a kill but we sure got killed if we tried too much. Hate that guy on my team. Cait, MF, Lucian are pretty strong. Even teemo ADC is much better, in so many ways. At least mid, smolder can just stay under tower where he is meant to be.

idk, i think doublelift said it best: if a champ's damage is conditional, it basically means they don't have damage. yeah he can poke all day, but it doesn't really do much because his range is sad without minions and tickles. i feel most attempts to duel will just end badly if he's not 2v1ing. i basically find that stacking on smolder doesn't do anything. he can get really fed, fully stacked, but it doesn't really change the state of the game - yeah, he exists, his poke is *fine*, but apply any amount of pressure and he's gone. he can't flee like jinx, he can't really duel like jhin, he doesn't have crazy siege like sivir. idk, i feel like a smolder at lv. 1 is the same as a smolder at lv. 18 and that just kind of feels sad. i feel unlike hwei, who honestly needed some buffs on his numbers to really feel satisfying to play, and if you do well on him you can *really* turn a teamfight (because i felt hwei's kit was actually really great), i personally feel doing well on smolder doesn't do anything. i am sure you can pop off once in a while, but his kit feels really clunky, and for how simple it is? that's not great.
Smolder feels terrible because his q is basically his "auto attack", like it doesn't do a lot of damage and sure it gets aoe and he has the execute but so what. Theres better champs with consistent damage right now that dont need to stack, and theres better poke champs that arent 500 range or whatever. Hes not the worst wr adc rn, but hes not great for sure.
smolder feels like a "late game ezreal" that isnt better than ezreal, ezreal have the advantage of his Q having much better range and the E being a blink, which also helps early on, sure smolder have more potential damage but ehh
I play a ton of ezreal, smolder and sivir. I got a thing for short range autos but long range poke. Smolder way out damages ezreal in a shorter period of time late. You can literally count the qs of influence on two hands that wins teamfights. Hes a burst mage by late game and still pumps out enough consistent damage to deal with tanks
I have gone from disliking the Smolder hate to just reveling in it. One trick Smolder time. The +/- 3% win rates people go crazy over are hilarious. Just like every winner says "I am the diff" and every loser says "Report top/jungle/mid/support/adc". An S+ game into a Sion with one of his best champs in Zoe and Smolder still 2nd in damage with one item on a stacking champ in a 15 minute game.
How long are we going to do this song and dance? New champ gets released, some ppl dont play it right, ppl complain, riot buffs them, "oh so heres what i have to do!," now ppl know how to play it and its overbuffed, then riot nerf it into the ground. Its been years and still ppl havent noticed the cycle.
You have to consider that new champs are still in the learning process no? Like you expect people to be masters of the builds and the kits in the first two weeks? Imo smolder seems fine, he's more of a "I play for my team" champ, his passive mini elder dragon is really good for team fights.
I mean its because they look at champions kits to determine how good they are rather than the damage numbers riot has buffed or nerfed them to be. Smolder suffers from low range, his mobility is very slow and champs like this usually have fast autos to encourage kiting but smolder is an ad caster but his ad burst is not strong enough to actually burst anyone like caitlyn or ezreal and his q doesn't relate allow him to kite like ezreal can either. This means numbers aside an optimal smolder will do worst than an optimal adc. Yone on the other hand, has an easy to proc mobility spell which allows for very fast engages and disengaged, double crit chance, mixed damage and he scales very well with many items. This allows him to be considered broken by kit standards. I'm 90% sure that is why pekin things smolder is bad and yone is good.

Also his q being his auto range means he actually has to build rapid fire in order to safely q. He is a poke champ with way to low range to actually poke.

You have to consider that new champs are still in the learning process no? Like you expect people to be masters of the builds and the kits in the first two weeks? Idk I don't play anymore but that's sth that sounds pretty normal to me from an outsider perspective
Edit: I'm not implying that he is hidden op it's just the wr is probably fine especially in bot. And he is weak early as he should be (except his w lvl 1 wtf) but maybe he should be better later idk maybe his passive is underperforming idk

You totally hated on Hwei when he first officially released, and I think the same thing is wrong with Smolder as was wrong with Hwei. Brand new champ. People still figuring him out.
I'll ALWAYS find it funny how it's the "Win rate determines if the champ is good or bad... unless it's against my point". Feels like every streamer pulls that 😂. Pekin rants about how broken Yone is, but his winrate is 49%, however smolder that at the time had the same winrate, is pure dogshit garbage. Like right.... Imo smolder seems fine, he's more of a "I play for my team" champ, his passive mini elder dragon is really good for team fights.
I mean its because they look at champions kits to determine how good they are rather than the damage numbers riot has buffed or nerfed them to be. Smolder suffers from low range, his mobility is very slow and champs like this usually have fast autos to encourage kiting but smolder is an ad caster but his ad burst is not strong enough to actually burst anyone like caitlyn or ezreal and his q doesn't relate allow him to kite like ezreal can either. This means numbers aside an optimal smolder will do worst than an optimal adc.
Yone on the other hand, has an easy to proc mobility spell which allows for very fast engages and disengaged, double crit chance, mixed damage and he scales very well with many items. This allows him to be considered broken by kit standards.
I'm 90% sure that is why pekin things smolder is bad and yone is good.

Also, a champion can have the crazies kit, and if its numbers ain't good, it'll be trash, something we can see through winrate.
@@softbread1728 his ability that increases his speed also does fuck all damage, it is also way to slow to be an oh shit button. Like compare it to vayne q, ezreal e. It is much closer to caitlyn net which is good but not that great. Also his q being a mini elder isn't as good as you think. Most adcs can do 5% of your health in an auto in 30 min. Also his q being his auto range means he actually has to build rapid fire in order to safely q. He is a poke champ with way to low range to actually poke.
