The coolest thing about these models is when the BLOWER shuts down BEFORE the chopper stops! You here the sound just die off during the windown.. LOVE IT (O:
Bloomington Minnesota used to have the Thunderbolt T1000 and then got rid of it. Too bad as it was the best sounding and most penetrating siren I have ever heard.
Woah anyone know why that tundabalt sounds so perfect? And I see some people naming the port and horn of this siren. Im not too familiar with this thunderbolts can someone give me some info tanks 😍
Esai Ramirez It’s a 4/5 port Thunderbolt 1000T on chopper level 5 with a 6M blower. 4/5 port’s are getting pretty rare now since they didn’t go into production for very long so it’s hard to come by one of these, especially with the blower type.
@JPa311979 July 1st 2010 and no i have not recorded any others yet but i had this laying around my day program and i was not sure how to upoad it from DVD format but the day program computer tech help me with uploading this so it has been a long time for me to upload this but this is my first Siren Video on UA-cam and you get to see who i am too at the end of the video when it gets warmer i will try and record the Thunderbolt 1000T on the East Bank of the U of M Campus i saw it last friday
Great vid u have here! Im 14 and my video u listened to of the 1003 was just a alert. from the 13 years i lived here never have heard a warning or multi tone test. Its probably not done so people dont think there is a meltdown of 9 Mile. but thts my opinion. who knows.
NeoX Tactics Well not really, it got replaced with a DSA on the building next to it, but the University of Minnesota bought the thunderbolt and is keeping it up in action.
thrmoz456 Nope. B-series is offset and was made only in 1980. Minneapolis's old system of Thunderbolts were A1 series, and were installed in 1955. This Thunderbolt is the only one that currently remains. The rest have been replaced with Whelen sirens.

A 4/5 thunderbolt with the A1 blower = BEST! That is the SMOOTHEST thunderbolt I ever heard! Sure the 5Ms make them louder but that is like WOW!
This is why the A1 series is my favorite.
I think this is the most epic sounding 4/5 Port Thunderbolt I've ever heard
THIS is how I remember siren tests.
The echo on that thing is amazing!
It's chopper level 5, 4/5 port with an A1 Series blower.
This has gotta be one of my favorite video on the West Bank Thunderbolt. The echoes are amazing.
The echo when it first shuts off.

There is only one word to describe this: EPIC.
That this scares me sometimes
Bloomington Minnesota used to have the Thunderbolt T1000 and then got rid of it. Too bad as it was the best sounding and most penetrating siren I have ever heard.
That has to be the creepiest pitch on a 4/5 Port Thunderbolt 1000T.
Minneapolis used to be 4/5 heaven but now they are all replaced with Whelens except for this one. It's still up and running
that has got to be the creepiest windup sound ever, yet it makes me wanting to own it even more
Awesome video! I love the echos on the wind ups. :)
nice video, love the way it sounds. keep them 4/5 port thunderbolts coming :)
This siren is still up and running as the last t bolt of Minneapolis
What model camera did you use to record this? It picked up the sound very well.
@carexpertandy i am guessing 2 possibly 3 not sure though notice the beastly echo this one has
Does anyone agree that this is creepier than the uk Ghents and castle castings sirens ?
American Siren Productions Oh yeah, you can't beat A1 4/5 ports
yes, what other U of M do you know?

Is there any other thunderbolts in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area? I need the answer between now and Friday
Ian Wilson Besides this one, no there is not.
The whole unit is in your possession Carlos Aponte
Great video! What chopper level would this be?
can someone please tell me what the closest inter section to this siren is?
somewhere in the world.
It is near the rarig center location:at the first intersection after the rarig center turn left and it should be right there.
2:16 apparently there are other sirens going off. i believe the one you probably heard is a 2001-SRNB about 1/2 mile away
Really sounded like a modulator to me.
NeoX Tactics Those aren't in Hennepin County. Those are St Paul's 2001-130's heard in the backround
I saw that thunder bolt there
A Flip Video Recorder that i barrowed from my day program that i go to
This siren is still there and active
sorry, gary but that siren got relocated/replaced by a modulator. it is now on top of the building down the street from it.

probably a daily sound in Ukraine
B-series?
