  • Video taken on Saturday, March 8, 2014 @ 12:09:35 PM at Yatesville, GA's fire department for the final test of the old Federal Electric Model 7A and the first full test runs of the Model 7's replacement, a clean, refurbished Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000AT (Series A2).
First, the Model 7A fires up in attack for 3 minutes, also it's very last test before it is removed. Then after the 3 minute attack signal ends, the replacement siren (Thunderbolt) roars for it's very first full 3 minute test run, in this case, 3 minutes of the attack/fire call signal. Then very shortly after, the thunderbolt starts up again, this time running 3 minutes of alert. In total, the test time (both sirens) lasted around 10 minutes.
I apologize for missing a brief part of the windup on the Model 7, and missing the near-complete windup of the thunderbolt in alert. I had just ran back to my recording spot (a field down the hill) and turned off the camera to save memory, when the Model 7 wound up and I hit the record button in time to get almost all of the windup. And as for the alert cycle on the thunderbolt, nobody told me that it would start up again, so I missed almost all of the start of the alert cycle.
In spite of that, the video turned out pretty well, and I'm happy with it. And it was great meeting other siren enthusiasts who showed up for the test, and seeing an interesting event in Yatesville's history, making this day an awesome one overall.
Also, mad props to McCranie Warning Systems for this awesome restoration!
