About Video:-
Diode is a power electronic switch which uses very good engineering. Diode is similar to the same switch installed in our house, it works like this, same voltage, same frequency, same current.
It will probably be 1/10th in size and much more advanced. Our entire power electronics and automation hinges on this switch.
The waveform of alternating current is the sine wave. When we turn on the diode, it is called forward bias and the diode will pass the current. When this sine wave goes to the negative side, the diode will become reverse biased and will not pass the current further.
Diode is a power electronic switch which will automatically forward and reverse bias according to the sine wave and will provide unidirectional DC supply at the output.
Silicon metal is used inside the diode and silicon is a semiconductor, it can behave like a conductor and also like an insulator.
But to make current flow in it, we add some impurities of aluminum and phosphorus in it, which forms a PN junction in which there is availability of holes and electrons, due to which the flow of electrons starts and we call the flow of electrons is current.
In this video, with the help of 3D animation, the difference between a normal switch and a power electronic switch has been explained and the working principle behind how a power electronic switch operates at high speed has been explained in detail.
