Yeah, her passion and thoughtfulness of the story, the show, and her character, and how she explain them in various interviews is infectious. Her casting is perfect and such a great addition to the show.

Bloody hell, if the next few seasons are anywhere NEAR as good as this one, this series is gonna be up there with Watchmen as one of the best adaptions of a graphic novel, ever.

I just finished watching the series and it's phenomenal and mind blowing!! I could not put my phone down!! I binged watch the entire series in one night and stayed up until 5AM.. It's really superb!! The visual scenery and graphic design was spectacular!! The storyline was always interesting and there's never a boring episode!! The characters was meticulously created and made as well as the dialogues!! It's in Top 10 right now in Netflix and hopefully it stays in Top 10 for the next few weeks or even months, maybe even reach Top 1 cz it honestly deserves that spot!! It's soo good!!
That one episode though? You know which one. That's something you want to watch with your friends! To experience it together! To me it seemed like more of an introduction into what to expect from this series than anything else! What happens when a mortal has this power!? But so than Dream took it back and everyone forgot they went crazy?

I cannot even tell you how many times I watched episode 4 just to hear Gwendoline say the following:

I binged it in my phone. It was amazing but I feel like I didn't give it justice so I watched it again on the big TV. Truly mesmerizing experience.

I LOVED this show. Honestly, I knew nothing about the novel and didn't even intend to watch this show until someone finally recommended it. I'm so glad I watched. The cast is AMAZING.

He did create Desire as such, decades ago so Neil's been ahead of our time for decades.
@@bbi-bbi-bbeat-itxd1858 Not at all. Desire was binary, she was either man or woman, switching genders all the time, while the actor identifies as non-binary, none of those genders. One maybsay that those two are opposites.
Also Desire had black hair.

I'm aware it had black hair, I've read the comics too love lol and I refer to Desire as 'it' because I remember that was also its pronouns cause it is desire personified, therefore it was/could be anything and everything. The endless also used 'them' and called them 'sibling'. So honestly, is Desire non-binary? Ofcourse. But Desire is also binary. So it is what it is. Also the point of my reply earlier was to point out how much of a Gee Neil is

used to have a comic shop here in cork, ireland and sandman was a BIG seller for us, love it, particularly issue 14 with the serial killer convention.... Gaimans entire run was magnificent though

Watched it on netflix today, and i love it.

The latest trailer blew me away, and it seems everyone involved, including Neil of course, know what they are doing, this could be something special.
I'm glad Neil waited until the technology was available to accurately represent his work but I'm also afraid that the current levels of overall stupidity and lack of sophistication among humans are at an all time low, that this show won't have the numbers to green light a second season.
I'm kind of worried about that too, because of the sheer length of Sandman. How many times would it have to be renewed for another season before we could see the whole story? I really, really, *really* want it to happen; but I'm also afraid.

My question for Neil would be: "A lot of your books have been turned into one form of cinematic art form or another; comics, film, TV, audio-books: Stardust, Neverwhere, American Gods, Coraline... If you had to choose between the original words on a page and a dramatic adaptation, which is your favourite and why?"

Just finished watching it. And it is indeed spectacular.
For me, Tom is such a hot sandman, I saw him, I knew I would definitely see it 🤭. Gwen and desire were casted so amazingly, just look at them and their experiences, 100% the show is lit! 💁🏻♂️ and this Corinthian is way better than one in the comic 🤭
I really love all these cast and their characters! They nailed it seriously! Wake me up when season 2 arrives 😭👌 I'll be in the dreaming world for the meantime...
I always read Death in the sandman as a facet of love.
Love and death are both depicted as beautiful in art but death is sometimes kinder while love can be cruel. I think I heard that somewhere once.
Just finished watching the series and loved it! I hope it gets tons of views so we can get a second season
Love all the cast, especially Desire, Corinthian and Dream, but can we talk about the others not here and not very mentioned elsewhere and that were amazing? I'm talking about David Thewlis, brilliant. The whole cast in the 24/7 episode? Joely Richardson, Stephen Fry, the actor that played Rosemary and the one that played Hob Galding, among others. The supporting cast was great and honestly some even had more screen time that some others here. That being said Desire leaves us desiring that they had many more scenes. Best performance and best casting option for me in the whole show. Mason nails it.

i'm on my 2nd rewatch of the show. I started reading the comics and i'm not a big comic book reader. I picked up the audible adaptation and i generally dislike audiobooks. and i am hooked. i'm obsessed. I love the og material and the adaptations so much, it's such a fantastic story that i just can't get enough of.

Pretty impressed with Kirby Howell-Baptiste dropping "psychopomp". Neil knew what she was talking about - - not sure of the rest. (Not trying to insult them - - it's not a widely discussed concept, outside comparative mythology... just saying Kirby has an excellent brain)
I finished watching it and it’s a good watch. I understand setting it in 2021 means they had to alter some of the scenes but I think they made it a lighter story. The comics are a lot darker and I hope the change won’t affect them creating a second season.

You should definitely give it a shot! I recently finished going through the entire series for the first time and it was just spectacular. There's lots of ways to get started, I rented a lot of the books from my library. There's also the audiobook adaptation that's really great too!

I think it's a great idea for you to watch it, and THEN read the comics. I think everyone should just take this as is: another way to tell the stories. 'Hype' tends to create expectations and run out of control, and then the experience is tainted from what you expected, which I believe is what happened to every DC adaptation on film to date. I'll tell you, I read the comic book series and it completely shocked my World. Ever since a tv show or movie was hinted, I was skeptical about it, even knowing Neil was involved. For what I've seen in the trailer, this is going to be fantastic. But yes, you definitely HAVE to read the comics, before, during or after.
I've not read the comics either. Went in cold & was just fine following it. Terrific storytelling. Fair warning the later episodes aren't as strong but it ends on a high note. Will def watch S2

The clip I saw based on "Sound of Her Wings" has completely sold me on Howell-Baptiste as Death. I used to hope I'd either be met by Pratchett's Death or Gaiman's Death from the comics, when I finally pass. Now Howell-Baptiste's portrayal is added to that hope list. My highest congratulations, Kirby -- I really thought Death of the Endless would be nigh-impossible shoes to fill, and you nailed it.
Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sold on Christie as Lucifer, but that's because I fell in love with Tom Ellis's wickedly sexy snarky take in the Lucifer TV series...just disappointed that they didn't snag him for the role. Oh well.
Tom Ellis is great, but that shitshow was not Lucifer.

I'm really glad to hear that. Death is the only casting that worries me, not because of Kirby Howell-Baptiste, as I've literally never seen anything with her, but because Kat Dennings did such an incredible job in the Audible adaptation that it has been hard for me to imagine someone else in the part. But your comment and a few others are giving me confidence that we are going to have another wonderful Death come ep 6.
No Gwendoline nailed it. She has the angelic and ethereal aura which Lucifer would have. Kirby is fantastic though, the whole cast is just sublime

Maybe to depict other stories/events Ellis' Lucy would have fit but for this series the character needed much darker rage and repressed pain/loss.
