I did enjoy the concept of it, but I felt like winning with hope was a bit counter climactic. If there's a lucifer there's a "God," so why not just say "I am God." Fight won, where's my helm!?
@@somersetcace1 Because Dream isn't God, and he could only answer with hope because hope is something Lucifer couldn't bring themselves to kill. If Lucifer had taken different moves she could have won, but it was her aggressive and destructive plays that made hope a reasonable response.

@Gl Fer no it really was good, to pay attention to their face is paying attention to the show itself….clearly you didn’t. & Lesbian librarian? when was that ever a thing? just a typical hater or what the internet calls a troll. what’s disappointing is people like you or did you forget your opinion didn’t matter & most certainly nobody gives a fuck. thanks for the output though. & there isn’t a WE in that “we can’t”, you have no imagination because your bitter asf, not everybody is miserable like you so take that where you see your kind.

They are both so chaotic good with golden retriever energy 😂 the difference between Tom and Gwendoline with Dream and Lucifer just makes this more hilarious! This will be the only thing I can think about when I watch this scene from now on ❤
It's not even that. I really liked the legal approach to this battle. Remember, the original version of Satan is more like a prosecutor/quality control individual. This entity isn't a creature of pure chaos but rather, one who is born of rules. See the story of Job. There is a slyness that reminded me of the three temptations of Christ. The one with the "turn it into bread", "risk your life and test god's word" and the worst one - the blasphemy of bowing down to Satan for good intentions of saving the world. It's all a trick and the opponent must see the trick and twist it. Satan won't break it's rules to the game. It's an utterly fascinating literary character. We need more lucifer morningstar. I really liked Christie in this role. the juxtoposition of her height and presence combined with her femininity and her sweet voice. I liked how she played the character very very precise. It was all restraint but I had the feeling that Lucifer could have easily destroyed Dream but for Lucifer's rules.
One of the many things I like about this scene is how Gwendoline Christie's Lucifer remains stone-still in that pose as the camera pans out to reveal the vibrant green meadow they're standing in, but her eyes are darting around, taking the place in, as if briefly taken aback at the sudden shift. I guess this is Lucifer realizing that Dream has abandoned the offensive approach and become a lot more abstract in his moves, thus upping the stakes. Dream, of course, having a natural advantage in that regard, being the being who reigns over all imagination and all. I think that's why it was neat that they had Lucifer face Dream directly, rather than Choronzon. A mere demon up against the Lord of Stories in a battle of creativity seems like a major mismatch, whereas Lucifer was the most beautiful angel in heaven who tried to conquer all creation and overthrow the Creator.
Such a clever observation I see ur not just another pretty face here... Lord vs lord was such a great concept and worked well... The fact that the God of dreams defeated the God of lies and manipulation in his own domain and absolute monarch was that much spicy and humiliated poor Luci was delicious... He isn't afraid of the dark angel even though he clearly knows Lucifer is stronger and maybe older... This show is promising hope season 2 is better and we get to see an epic fight

Sandman has SO much rewatch value...I'm already on my third viewing! They've really succeeded in creating an arc that is so intricate in detail that I imagine I'll still be discovering new things on my 10th, even 20th viewing! AND they've managed to do so in a way that doesn't lose the audience, since it's not convoluted. So a casual viewer can enjoy it just as much as the guy who craves something complex that he can really sink his teeth into (that's me 😊).
@@920mario interesting...i LOVED the second half, and the arc centred around the dream vortex. But my fave ep (alongside the Diner) would probably be the one where he spends the first half hanging out with Death, before it tells the story of how he meets up with his friend every hundred years. And I think it really worked in their favour that the show is not set in 1989, because it meant they had to work around the fact that it's 2022, so he got to say that awesome line about "I've heard it's rude to keep one's *friends* waiting." 🙂 I just watched the bonus ep...i thought the Calliope part was particularly amazing...it really captures Gaiman's style, would you agree?
