Honestly I found Stanley to be the most disturbing part of Silent Hill 3. I wonder in someway if Stanley was actually a manifestation of Heather's anxiety and fear through out the town.
"Stan" (Stanley) Based on the central character in the Eminem song of the same name, a "stan" is an overzealous maniacal fan for any celebrity or athlete. Just wanted to point that out, because everytime I listen to that song, I must think about Stanley Coleman.
Stanley is a fun character because he can look into the void of Silent Hill and see things that no one else can. Perhaps, in the beginning, he was seen as simply crazy and he was just put into the civilian hospital for lunacy. But later when he started to speak to the doctors in his time of a girl he loved named Heather and events of the unseen future, and even knowing things he shouldn't, he was perceived as a threat by the order. Leonard was a major player in the order, so perhaps when he was in power he snuffed out Stanley because he was an unable control him, and could possibly be giving Alessa reincarnate information the Order doesn't want her to know. Just a fan theory, but I always found it interested that the maddest of people usually know more than the most 'level-headed' individuals.
Honestly, while i was playing the game, i was happy that Stanley got murdered before we could even see him. I was terrified by his letters. Leonard was just another monster but Stanley's silent presence GAVE ME THE CHILLS. Honestly his existence puts the player on Heather's shoes, as a teenage girl in a strange unknown place all alone.
In my head cannon Stanley loved Alyssa a one sided love and when she died his twisted love for her still lingered into her recarnations, cause in his mind she never died
I legit forgot about the Stanley subplot in the hospital and I know SH3 like the back of my hand, I used to be in the top 50 speed runs worldwide with a 1:28:00 play time and I wasn’t even trying to speed run it haha I want to believe it’s because the Stanley parts are just so eerie and creepy and disturbing and I am a 29 year old 6’2 200+ lb man, I can’t imagine how the girls in my generation playing this must have felt because it’s just not something we as men usually need to worry about.
The thing that I distinctly remember noticing upon my first SH3 playthrough is the sentence where the ebony hair is mentioned. It immediately increased the feeling of vulnerability as it felt like Stanley was actively taunting the player by basically saying : "The extent of my knowledge is much greater than you previously thought". I really like the fact that this detail can be easily missed, and I think it would not have been nearly as effective had it been said more explicitly.
It's awesome to see how much information you got from a character that the players could easily forget to meet. And all of that just from a few clues. Probably one of my favorite charachters. Another piece of the brilliance of Team silent.
Stanley Coleman should be a physical character in a future SH game, and he should talk about his obsession with Heather to the main character who has no idea what he’s talking about.
My personal theory is that Stanley is a compiste character created by the town power, made by the fanatical expectation of the mother of god of various members of the cult, and the fears and paranoia of heater, oh and muse, about the number 7 thing, in Kabalistic traditions, the qlhippots are in equal number to the sephirots. So there are 7 aspect of righteousness and 7 aspect of evil. Stanley is very much the qlippot Harab Sephel of silent hill 3, the violent desire to control other To love them, In opposition to empathy and passion.
I believe Stanley is some kind of a god, like the legend says "god created many gods and angels", it lead me to believe that some characters in the game are more than human, reason why they can roam between worlds too.
For the first time ever I played through SH2 and 3, just this week, on their native console the PS2. I can't replay many games, but I've replayed the SH series a million times. One creepy detail I noticed from 3 was how Stanley's notes and doll occasionally go missing after you've read them....👻
Im pretty sure it’s because it’s supposed to be the same notebook and doll and he’s moving it for heather to find… but I’m really not sure but that’s what I always assumed haha
The fact that the diary and doll moves around is even creepier when you notice you can hear footsteps and doors opening and closing while walking around the hospital...it made the anxiety worse!!
There’s actually only six colors of the rainbow. Indigo is not a spectrum of it. The man who established the seven colors was flat out crazy for the number. Another amazing video. I don't know how you do it but you show connections and imagery that I forgot long ago or did not realize. This series NEEDS to continue!! I call for Muse to be the head of the SH series trilogy (for now) remake (like RE2 remake 2019). She'll make sure continuity stays intact. His name "Stanley" has seven letters. BOOOM! Mind blown, huh?
Stanley Coleman is the player himself who observes Heather from another space and time (from other side of the screen) and knows her connection to Alessa.
I am very much of enjoyment in your entirenet videos, very much thanks to yourself for the entertaining of me in this time of trials for which we all seek salvation from.
When you try to sound sophisticated, but it looks like you typed this stwpping on legos while on fire, and being threatened to be shot in the balls. Lmao. Joke
I think the town's objective in "SH 3" is to kill Heather/Alessa, in a way to spare her from the pain of God, in another to keep it's "mother" from leaving again, because there's a level where a mysterious voice, alongside somekind of red void, that says everyone in there loves her and wants her to stay.
@@Pystoria yeah, i've been thinking about that and i've come to another conclusion : I think the city wants to turn its "mother" into a stronger person, in a way for her being ready to face the worst the world will have to offer once her adventure ends, in a way for so she might be a good mother for the "Goddess".
Re-looking at the Halo of the Sun, there is an incubator. It could be possible that the traumatic event that caused Alyssa's poltergeist to blow up the boiler, was due to the ritual that was going on. And that ritual could have been Stanley Coleman impregnating her with the "God". Just a thought.
I mean a doll would be a gift a predator would give to a little girl to enable trust. Getting angry that she doesn't take it wouldn't make her trust him, so gaslighting takes place. She doesn't know herself, he does. Cause they're made to be together. To bring god into the world and make it a place just for them. Seems to all fit rather nicely. And it's said that, only when we face our past do we find clarity and can heed the red flags we missed all along.
I wonder if the "blue eyes" isn't literal but perhaps the color blue and even eyes in general are symbolic both separately and together. The color blue could represent death, coldness, nobility or sadness and likely other things. Eyes can refer to the soul, actual vision or a sixth sense connected to sight, things seen or experienced in a person's life, watchfulness and even 'knowing things' and again I'm sure there are more things associated to eyes - both good and bad. Thus blue eyes could mean 'sad soul', 'dead eyes', 'cold gaze', 'noble soul', 'dead soul', 'psychic knowledge', sad or noble watchfulness' for example just form the symbolism the could represent that I mentioned above. Eyes can be revealing of a person as well as something that makes us uncomfortable when we feel like we're being watched by someone/something unseen, someone seeing a part of us we don't want seen and in horror, the eyes being injured or targeted in some way intentionally can make even the most hardcore gore fan squirm in disgust.
I read in all sites of sh3 that have a note from stanley on store room , but when i go there , have just a save ! I watch a lot of gameplays and in none of then have a note in store room in brookhave hospital !
If you believe that the town is to cause Heather suffering to help birth the god Claudia wants, then Stanley, even though he aids her, torments her. Both interpretations are really interesting to think about to me! Thanks for another great video!
You know, now that you've said that, I'm not sure of my memory of whether some or all of the letters where optional. I should replay this game again and freshen my memory up.
I forgot that these puzzles were so amazingly written and well thought, Team Silent is still being missed...This is why i dont consider Homecoming or Downpour as canon, those were made by people who didnt have ANY idea of what they were doing...
Yes, they did. But at that point there was a lot more interference from Konami's side, a lot more of "you can't do this or that", and that really cut the legs out from under the developers. Talented, amazing people have been working on Silent Hill for years, but Konami has not always supported them they way that should - and that even includes during the Team Silent years, when they cut funding for SH3 and 4.
You can throw Origins in there too, Team Silent didn't make that and it was purely a "oh btw this happened too" prequel game that adds nothing substantial to Alessa's story
I've always had a theory that Stanley could be right there beside Heather wherever you find his jotes, but he doesn't exist in Heather's perception of Silent Hill and therefore can't interact with each other
