One slight correction - the Black Rage existed before Sanguinius' death, in fact it was used in an attempt to convert him to chaos at Signus Prime, where Erebus used a device that induced it in the Blood Angels - Sanguinius nearly submitted to Chaos in order to stop it but one of his marines went in his place and became an entity known as The Red Angel (confusing as Angron had that title I know). Basically Sanguinius had been holding back the Black Rage as it was an inherent part of the Angels of Baal within him but his death unleashed it. In the 41st Millennium Mephiston is now host to that part of him and his job is basically to contain the Black Rage as much as possible.
@@inthetank40kcannot remember which book it is but there is a scene where a blood angel lost to the black range has to be put down by Sanguinius, if I remember correctly, and he confides in Horus (whoops) that he is worried that Daddy darling will do to his legion what was down to the II and XI.
I don't really have a horse in the primarch race, although I wouldn't mind seeing some of the next lore expansions happen the other way, i.e. the Imperium strikes back. Perhaps the Alpha Legion help the Grey Knights form a Beachhead in the insides of Medrengard with lost tech for ~reasons~ , and a new starter box is Grey knights & questionably loyal marines vs Iron Warriors & Daemons. I think you covered the topic of gatekeeping pretty well. I feel it's often an ecosystem, a balance between the creator wanting to expand, and a fanbase holding it accountable to the established setting, themes, and facts. Completely disregarding gatekeeper issues can lead to disenfranchisement of the established fanbase, whilst aggressive gatekeeping can prevent new converts to the hobby. Both options have a level of attrition and are to the detriment of the hobby. Or maybe that's just a word salad. I've been up painting for five nights solid. See you boys tomorrow.
Came for 40k, learnt about hair lip, what an evening! Looking forward to Eddies Battle Barn, so helpful that you have your old OF barn could be re used! Id say good luck at the weekend... BUT... ;)
Haha indeed! You learn something everyday, the barn looks absolutely belting! Good luck for the weekend yourself dude.. you’re going to need it ;) half joke* - Russ
If I couldn't pick a derivative of astartes for the poster boys, I'd go Tau. They're the one faction looking at everything else from the outside in, and they look like obvious good guys, until you dig deeper and find the mind control, propaganda, sterilization, etc.
Mortarion and rowboat were my first thoughts. Rowboat being really sick and fucking tired of the administratum after his rebirth. Hear me out, i might do this for my own bit swap out the visarch from the ynnari. And mommys got a thicc new bodyguard! Guillimen being the first to officially join a xenos race. CAN YOU IMAGINE THE FROTHING NECKBEARDS ?!
On the subject of inclusivity and change, I just hope they work within the established lore, retconing without the effort of justifying the retcon is just lazy historical revision
Fair points! We discussed this in previous episodes that I don’t actually mind that the lore changes, even core aspects (those rogue trader years were WILD) but there are smooth ways of doing it for sure. - Russ
Which Primarch would you like to see switch sides?
I mean.... 🤷♂️ 😂
@@sydisticsandmanHAHA well played.. - Russ
Swap Dorn and PeterTurbo
@inthetank40k Would be great to have a loyal version of the Lion……… 🐺

That’s quite interesting.. I always had assumed the black rage was a triggered event from the fight with Horus only. Cheers for the insight! - Russ

Wicked choice! Yeah Tau VS Tyranids would be such a cool launch box.

Haha great suggestions! And yes the Neckbeards are certainly assembling with that one, well played. - Russ
Could a bad Guillimam be stopped by a good Horus??
That's a bloody good question! I'm not sure he could but that'd certainly be a battle I'd love to see - Eddie
