Hi Laura, I am 74 years old and my grandmother had the exact same carved eagle coffee table when I was a very little girl. The glass didn't just cover the eagle, it covered the entire table. I think it had about a 2 inch wood border that framed the glass.
I have one like it but it's not an eagle it's a lady sitting on a rock in the water. When I bought it I was told it was a mermaid but it was not but I love it.
I don't know if binge watching ALL of your videos over the last couple of weeks has been the healthiest choice I've made recently, ( I should probably mention that the binge watching is usually accompanied by a bag of chips and some dip....) but oh my goodness, you really are just the bees knees 🐝 Thanks for the thrifting inspirations and the lovely lovely travel vlogs!!
I got a necklace like the blue an red style in east Germany before the wall came down. It was fun shopping there because things were cheap but also sad cause tourists were followed everywhere. Supposedly for our protection... We gave the bathroom attendant about a 5 dollar tip from the 5 of us an she cried cause she could buy things for her son an husband. We were digging for more money for her but Major Greishabor corraled us out saying we would offend her if we gave her more. Lovely trip.
Czechoslowakia means it is NOT !!!! Czech Republik but before independence!! Before independence the two ( now separate) States of Czech and Slowakia were one State but after the USSR fell, these two became separate independent states again: Czech Republik and Slowakia.
I know this, I but the last time I said Czechoslovakia many people commented saying that I need to now refer to it as Czech Republic. Even though I was referring to it in past tense. So I made sure to say both this time ❤️ I should have also included a *now*. I can’t seem to ever speak exactly perfect for my viewers to make everyone happy. It’s exhausting. I know the history very well as I studied it in school and even researched it extensively when I recently planned to spend a month there.
It's the same, when sometimes on some old items writes Yugoslavia or Jugoslavija and now it is 6 countries, with comlicated history and different state in Europe
As a native New Orleanian I love the fact that you came to my hometown! So glad you had a wonderful time and many of the shopping locations I frequent as well. As they say you love New Orleans and she will love you right back. Hope you find your way back here again.
My daughter lived in New Orleans for 4 years. She loved it and she says the New Orleans gets in your blood. She lived in MidCity just before leaving and worked for Martin's. She loved her job too. Someday she hopes to go back and visit.
This was so worth the wait, only wish the video were longer LOL! My bestie lives in NOLA and I'm planning a trip there this May. I sent her this video and said TAKE NOTES so we can visit the shops you featured! Thanks, Laura!!!
Oh Laura, you brought back so many good memories for me with this trip! My husband and I spent many a day in the beautiful state of Louisiana, and New Orleans in particular. Katrina changed so much, then health problems, so we haven't been in many years, but it was wonderful to travel via UA-cam with you and Jesse!
Laura, I JUST discovered you 3 days ago and I have been watching your channel 3 to 5 hours a day ever since! I love the content but I must say the best part about it is YOU! Your spirit is just full of joy and light. You are magical! HGTV should pick your show up for sure. I am obsessed. I've heard you reference a former UA-cam channel you did with a partner? I can't find it and would love to experience the trajectory of your business. Is it still available on UA-cam?
I really like this format of your own B-roll, travel AND vintage shopping. I might try this for my upcoming Vegas Trip. I get to see Tiffany while I am in Vegas too!
Wow, Laura- that pocket watch gift is absolutely stunning & oh so very special. I am so glad you found the display piece so you can enjoy looking at it while not being worn. I love New Orleans! It’s awesome that you & Jesse got to go. I have a good friend who owns a restaurant there so I go visit him every few years:). Anyway, what a fun video. All of your videos are works of art & they are getting better & better 😊
You were standing on top of a levee when you were trying to see the Mississippi River. What you were looking at is called a slough caused by back water from the Mississippi.
If you find yourselves in NOLA, again, ( not during Mardi Gras, check out the classics restaurants- Mothers for lunch ( a small cafe ) amazing Poboys and anything you want! Upscale restaurant- would be Mr. B’s ( on Magazine in the quarter) amazing Louisiana BBQ shrimp - not with a tomato BBQ- hard to describe- heads on shrimps adds so much flavor with spices( not too hot) lemon, and lots of butter. Another upscale - Commanders Palace during the week for Lunch ( lunch is most affordable -similar menus to dinner just slightly smaller) Two Sisters- has the best Oysters Rockefeller, and you must go to Cafe’ Du mode’ for There classic powdered sugar experience! NOLA has the best food in the USA, but during Mardi Gras, the crowds just don’t make eating in the classic restaurants feasible.
I missed you by a few weeks! Down in Belle Chasse for a two week Army course right now. Juts went antiquing on Decatur Street and had a blast! Looks like you guys had a fun time, too! :)
Hi Laura, the paperweights are really pretty but i dont think they are murano. Id check with some of the murano facebook groups but the bubbles just seem a little sloppy, so possibly made in china?? Either way they are cute :)
So awesome to see you spent so much time in Jefferson. We have so many great shops. I live three blocks from Jefferson Bayou Antiques. It's a favorite spot. New Orleans is such a wonderful place for resellers! Glad you had a wonderful time! Maybe next time we can organize a meetup for all of your fans here...there are many. :) PS. That WAS the river. As a native of New Orleans (sadly I don’t live there now), this brought back memories. I first started thrifting at a place on Jefferson Hwy. and never stopped. I used to get pieces of Depression glass for a quarter. The river was beyond the trees you were looking at from the levee but you probably would’ve needed rubber boots to get close. Such a great video! It brought back many happy memories, since I lived in New Orleans in the 1970s and sourced many beautiful vintage outfits for myself from the 30s and 40s! One of my friends from that era still works in one of those tony antique stores in the French Quarter full of 200 year old French antiques! I think about moving back, but it’s just too.darn.hot!

I’m so loving your travel vlogs with great thrift shopping. Your trip to NOLA brought back so many memories from my time living in Baton Rouge and visiting New Orleans for many a Mardi Gras. I had a suitcase full of beads and doubloons that my daughter loved to play with as a kid. I’m looking forward to your next adventure.

❤I am originally from New Orleans, cool you went there,if you ever go at Christmas time go see Christmas in the oaks at City Park ❤❤❤and even if not Christmas go check out the park the oak trees are huge ❤❤❤
I love New Orleans. I've been to the Magazine Street Antique Mall. I enjoyed it, but the tourist prices deterred me from buying anything. The pocket watch is fabulous.
Dang, I wish I knew you were coming here! I would have hunted you down just to meet you!LOL I have bought so many treasures from the RED WHIT E BLUE store on Jefferson Hwy. Today I scored a 5 piece ceramic salad bowl set made in Italy. 75% off!!! I paid a whopping $2.50! Great video!
Fun video Laura! Welcome to my state, TN in the beginning of the video. Love the pocket watch and stand. Sweet. As to your Square Space store, how do you handle remitting the sales tax for all the states that you sell in? I know that many of the states require sales tax collected if you sell more than $100 in a particular state. Does square space handle that for you? This is one of my FAVORITE EVER videos of yours!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE seeing New Orleans through your eyes. I went to high school outside NOLA (and attended LSU in Baton Rough). But I have not been back in years.
@@wrylieghhillebrecht1354 It's called "Rothenburg ob der Tauber". Very romantic and medieval looking place. I grew up close by and loved their local sweet specialty called Schneeballen (snowballs).
Hi Bestie!!! It’s your BFF, Amy from Mpls! What fun! NOLA is also on my bucket list. That green, horse, pottery plate and the jewelry…you scored! Come to MN and I will bring you to the Mississippi River. It is less than a mile from my house. My girlfriends and I are onboard for Morocco 2024! BRING IT!!!❤😂🎉
I don't think you will find much in the way of vintage goodies in Costa Rica while many clothes are sent out from the USA but I of course 8-) I could be wrong Until a few years ago, we had lived there for 19 years... Hope you enjoy yourselves, especially the critters!
Yay !!! Laura videos!! You are back ❤!!! Loving this!!! ❤️❤️ Laura next time you come to MN you must check out the Mississippi River! ❤️ I want to go to Marti Gras so bad! I dream of going to New Orleans one day!! Ahh you guys look amazing!! Love!❤ You got some amazing finds and the good looks amazing! Yum!!❤
I’m sure you already know or someone already said but doubting that those particular paper weights are Murano. The cloudy, unpolished bottom is biggest clue but also just not the quality overall. At least from seeing them from afar. 😊
Laura, as an Israeli I've discovered Avraham Gofer's work only just recently.. and actually the minute you picked it up I was thinking "this looks like our style:)" Gofer's works are STUNNING! very similar in style to the Bitossi design, but in my opinion maybe even more beutiful.. he also has a series of creatures in blue and green colors.. just beautiful! his work is very popular here among collectors and resellers, whereas of Bitossi it seems not a lot of people have heard.
I would love to travel and visit different thrift stores. The Goodwill stores here in northern New England leave a lot to be desired - the one in my town is small and feels like a crappy 7-11 compared to what you show in the PNW.
Loved this trip Laura, talking about cementaries you have to go to Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis in old San Juan Puerto Rico. Built in 1863 located by the Fort San Felipe del Morro. It’s just spectacular.
Thats a great trip. I was there in 2017. Hope you were able to visit some of the great plantations homes like Oak Alley or Laura Plantation. Just to view the inside of the homes is beautiful and so full of history.
Awesome look at some different style vintage in a different part of your country, thanks Laura. There's an interesting PDX estate sale in Portland on Saturday, maybe you could go along and show us all the lovely vintage? There's a penguin ice bucket I just know you'll want to scoop up lol 😂
When you going to your trip to Costa Rica , you should try to go to Panama and go to the Panama Canal we have beautiful places to go. I'm pretty sure you will love Boquete its a town in provincia de Chiriqui.
Love your videos! I know nothing about vintage jewelry, so thank you for your knowledge and insight! New Orleans has the best food!! Thank you for recommending Willa Jean, I’ll definitely try it!! 💕

I have one like it but it's not an eagle it's a lady sitting on a rock in the water. When I bought it I was told it was a mermaid but it was not but I love it.
This one didn’t have a glass groove on the edge of the table but it clearly did immediately around the eagle emblem
I love the watch stand! What wonderful gift!
Blimey, you sure do get around...Costa Rica next week?!!!
Rothenburg ob der Tauber- that was the town on the picture..:-)

I’m sure you already know or someone already said but doubting that those particular paper weights are Murano. The cloudy, unpolished bottom is biggest clue but also just not the quality overall. At least from seeing them from afar. 😊
Love the napkin ring idea! Fun video!
Wow what a great day out, finding so much exciting stuff, that jewellery you spotted Laura was so gorgeous loved it,Have a great week an weekend,😮❤😊
The Elgin Watch company didnt come into existence until the 1860s so your watch can be from before then.
I just signed up to squarespace. Dropped your name gurl. I hope they send you goodies!
Yay! Have fun building out your website!!! 🙌
Thats a great trip. I was there in 2017. Hope you were able to visit some of the great plantations homes like Oak Alley or Laura Plantation. Just to view the inside of the homes is beautiful and so full of history.
Thank you for choosing the best music for a NOLA video.
I hope your experience was as positive as it appeared.
Stunning episode Laura!
Love your videos! I know nothing about vintage jewelry, so thank you for your knowledge and insight! New Orleans has the best food!! Thank you for recommending Willa Jean, I’ll definitely try it!! 💕
