They always come up with the strongest visual interpretation for their songs. Almost every single negative emotion one human can feel at a time can be felt in this short but meaningful music video. High budget production doesn't mean anything without taking in consideration the emotional impact that will be projected to the people who watch the MV itself. Masterpiece.

They filmed it without cgi. The crazy thing about this song is that it emphasizes the current mood you're having. Never experienced anything like this before.
There is a lil bit of CGI with those time creatures though, but yeah it seems that most of it is made with practical effects, which is spectacular to behold!
@@mx_klsk yea I watched a video somewhere (I think its just a promo snippet) they talked about using real sand and the sand faces are real and they tried to blow them up but it didnt work so they used air cannons instead. Also using real sand is FAR more cheaper than CGI. Not to mention if it was CGI you would easily tell.

The figures are Timekeepers for the past the present and the future, keeping time in good order no matter what we do to try to alter that order. Stunningly beautiful and haunting applies to both the song and the video. So much has gone into both, they're incredible masterpieces. The un-birthing scenes absolutely relevant as birth is an obvious part of life no matter how gory some may think it is. The band either fighting against the sands of time, accepting that they're passing or embracing them as well. I was stunned and in absolute bits the first time I watched the video on the day the song and video dropped. Excellent reaction and nice to hear from a different perspective as well.

The role of the Grim Reaper is seen as an entity that takes the souls of the dead to judgement and to their final destination based upon that judgement. In biblical terms, the Grim Reaper is also seen as one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, Death. This does of course assume that you believe in that sort of thing in the first place and like everything else, it's open to interpretation.

It does need to be emphasised that everything in this video is real. Rammstein are 100% committed to this stuff, all the sand is real of course. They literally drowned themselves to make the first part, and even hired alien lifeforms from the Andromeda galaxy to feature as the Timekeepers 🙂
Every father looking at the video, supported by the big heavy music, get two times tears running in his head or on his face. One time remembering the so short perfect moment of the birth of his child and one time feeling the lost of his child a few seconds later. Such a music, such images, such a meaning !!!
The director of this video, Robert Gwisdek, aka "Käptn Peng", is also (in my opinion) one of Germany's best rappers. His band is called "Käptn Peng & die Tentakel von Delphi" and I definitely urge everybody to check them out. His lyrics are incredibly philosophical and so far I've found not one person, regardless of their favourite genre, who didn't love their music. In "Der Anfang ist nah" (the beginning is near) they already experimented with shooting a music video with practical effects backwards 9 years ago and there's a hilarious blooper reel of them screwing it up repeatedly :D

I really loved to see how enthusiastic you are about the video and wanted to add something: The director of the video is Robert Gwisdek; he is (among other things) a alternative hip hop artist, better known as Käpt'n Peng, and also a book author. In his lyrics, shortfilms and the book, he really created his own, strange, universe (time, circles, mysterious creatures are reoccurring themes) and I was so happy to see that the video is not only a great Rammstein music video but that it also bears the director's own signature. I was wondering if other Käpt'n Peng fans noticed that too?

My interpretation is that Till wrote this, as a man.nearing 60, still single...Time gave him successes but kept him from other parts of a life. Then throw in that it was written during.lockdown, when all.of us were contemplating our mortality; the Time we have, may be short! Like how life is cyclical, so is Time...are they the same? We are always either in anticipation or regret...Time controls us all. Leaves us always longing for more. I don't have any real.insight, this is just how the song made me feel! Music, lyrics and video complement each other again as almost always to a complete work of art. The lyrics talk about not being able to stop time and the video shows the band members trying until the end, unfortunately in vain. We all sit when our time has come in one and the same boat, no matter whether friend or foe like or in a war. In the very last second of the video, by the way, we hear the first breath of a newborn human being.
„Zeit“ (time) Three creatures of destiny are named: their names are Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which is to come) and Skuld (guilt; that which should be). Their names are considered to be Norse equivalents of common medieval notions of time in the form of personifications of the past (Urd), present (Verdandi) and future (Skuld). The song deals with the theme of death and the transience of life. These motifs are expressed within the video through various images and metaphors. At the beginning, when the band members are drowning in the sea, Lindemann sings about the river of time, in which all people are trapped. This metaphor is visualized by the drowning in the video. In the war scene, where children first play war and later a battle actually takes place, the band sings about the inability to stop the future: "You can't summon the future, you don't tolerate a stay". In the same place where children used to play, they now die in war. The song expresses the wish that the beautiful moments as children should always last. The women who give birth to their children at the Sandstrom represent the cycle of time. In the same place where the dead daughter will later appear, children will also be born. What many people don't realize is that Rammstein even teased "Zeit" in the Video of "Deutschland" , the red laser, that Red light beams and lines is the timeline, the read thread that connects past , present and future.
The Videos for ZEIT and ANGST were directed by Robert Gwisdek, who is also one of my favorite german rappers, performing under his alias Käptn Peng. His Songs are usually about existence and reality itself, and how you perceive it and yourself. He is amazing (although pretty hard to listen to).

Definitely react to Deutschland, even though knowing some of our darkest moments in history (besides the Nazis) will help you appreciate it more. Zeit is just pure art and a fuckin masterpiece of a video, especially the sand shots and the births.
The three Moirai names were Clotho, Lachesis, and Antropos, and each of them was the owner of a distinctive character which turned them into unique beings. Clotho was the Fate who was also known by the name of Spinner because it was her duty to spin the thread of a person’s life from her distaff directly to her spindle. She also made major decisions, for instance when a person was to be born. This allowed her to not only choose who was born, but also when gods or mortals were to be saved or put to death. Once this task had been performed, Lachesis - always dressed in white - was in charge of its measurement, and according to every person’s length of thread, their lifespans were different. This would represent their destiny, and she was in charge of deciding how much time of life was to be allotted to each person. It is also believed that she was in charge of choosing the fate of every person once the thread had been measured. Atropos, who was the oldest of the three Fates, was also known as the Inevitable. She was closely related to death since it was Atropos who would choose the mechanism of death. It was her task to end the life of mortals by cutting their thread. It was believed that the Fates would appear within three days of someone’s birth to decide their fate. The three Moirai, or Fates represented the cycle of life, essentially standing for birth, life, and death. They would spin (Clotho), draw out (Lachesis) and cut (Atropos) the thread of life.

Heyhey, i just want to give you a slight hint to the Directors of this Clip. It was Directet by "Kreisfilm" and these are mainly the Gwisdek Brothers, known as "Käpt`n Peng und die Tentakeln von Delphi". One of them is a really, really!!! good German raper/Hiphoper (i realy dont know because im not that much into the scene but i realy Enjoy his music) and his Brother does the Video and Production Stuff (maybe they both doing it... I`dont know). But back in the days there Musik were awesesome, and it is still today (for example "wer bist ich" (with bad Video quality but deep meanings) or "Kündigung 2.0, or "Der Anfang ist Nah" The Videos are partly a few Days back but so you can immagine the career from selfmade hiphop Videos to "beeing the Director of a Rammstein Music Video..." very Interesting tho...

I'm not positive as I haven't seen anything on the making of this video, but I imagine a number of these effects could be capture by filming sand falling (in an hourglass) and pouring sand on a pile and having it run down and then reversing the video to produce the effect of sand flowing backwards.

You made an imnpressive reaction, guys. Well, various reactions to the Rammstein video 'Zeit' speculate who and what the three eerie, faceless figures could be. Sometimes they are equated with time itself, sometimes with death. But I think Rammstein or the director are referring to an old pre-Christian myth. In pre-Christian Germanic faith, there were the goddesses of fate, called the Norns, who spun the thread of life for every human being beforee it was born and thus determined his or her life even before birth. When the time've come then, the Norns cut the thread of life again and the person dies. In this respect, however, the three figures (Norns) are neither good nor evil. They're just doing their job basically...
Hi, the sand in the video was real. There was an interview in the recent MetalHammer with the director and they had a lot of fun with tons of sand. They had to dry it prior the shot because it was too wet :D
Every grain of sand you see is real sand. Even the status and faces that are blown apart are real sand carvings by "Baldrick Buckle"... you should google that guy, amazing work.

I'm an American, and I love Rammstein, and this video and song blew me out of the water. All about time(zeit) passing.
From the first breath to death but shown in reverse (the first breath is the last thing heard after the end of the credits). The figures are Timekeepers for the past the present and the future, keeping time in good order no matter what we do to try to alter that order. Stunningly beautiful and haunting applies to both the song and the video. So much has gone into both, they're incredible masterpieces. The un-birthing scenes absolutely relevant as birth is an obvious part of life no matter how gory some may think it is. The band either fighting against the sands of time, accepting that they're passing or embracing them as well. I was stunned and in absolute bits the first time I watched the video on the day the song and video dropped. Excellent reaction and nice to hear from a different perspective as well.
Could be Time Keepers...I kinda thought that Time was represented as the Grim Reaper...able to give time and take it away.

The role of the Grim Reaper is seen as an entity that takes the souls of the dead to judgement and to their final destination based upon that judgement. In biblical terms, the Grim Reaper is also seen as one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, Death. This does of course assume that you believe in that sort of thing in the first place and like everything else, it's open to interpretation.

And my religious beliefs don't matter...its just a music video...and it made me *feel* like Time was being represented as a Grim Reaper. Bc it is true, that Time and the cycle of life/death are intertwined. I'm not suggesting anyone else's impressions of the video are in any way wrong. Neither are mine...we're just discussing in a friendly way, how we feel or think.

It does need to be emphasised that everything in this video is real. Rammstein are 100% committed to this stuff, all the sand is real of course. They literally drowned themselves to make the first part, and even hired alien lifeforms from the Andromeda galaxy to feature as the Timekeepers 🙂

Every father looking at the video, supported by the big heavy music, get two times tears running in his head or on his face. One time remembering the so short perfect moment of the birth of his child and one time feeling the lost of his child a few seconds later. Such a music, such images, such a meaning !!!
The director of this video, Robert Gwisdek, aka "Käptn Peng", is also (in my opinion) one of Germany's best rappers.
His band is called "Käptn Peng & die Tentakel von Delphi" and I definitely urge everybody to check them out. His lyrics are incredibly philosophical and so far I've found not one person, regardless of their favourite genre, who didn't love their music.
In "Der Anfang ist nah" (the beginning is near) they already experimented with shooting a music video with practical effects backwards 9 years ago and there's a hilarious blooper reel of them screwing it up repeatedly :D

I really loved to see how enthusiastic you are about the video and wanted to add something: The director of the video is Robert Gwisdek; he is (among other things) a alternative hip hop artist, better known as Käpt'n Peng, and also a book author. In his lyrics, shortfilms and the book, he really created his own, strange, universe (time, circles, mysterious creatures are reoccurring themes) and I was so happy to see that the video is not only a great Rammstein music video but that it also bears the director's own signature. I was wondering if other Käpt'n Peng fans noticed that too?
Great reaction guys, to another brilliant Rammstein video. My interpretation is that Till wrote this, as a man.nearing 60, still single...Time gave him successes but kept him from other parts of a life. Then throw in that it was written during.lockdown, when all.of us were contemplating our mortality; the Time we have, may be short! Like how life is cyclical, so is Time...are they the same? We are always either in anticipation or regret...Time controls us all. Leaves us always longing for more.
I don't have any real.insight, this is just how the song made me feel!

Music, lyrics and video complement each other again as almost always to a complete work of art.
The lyrics talk about not being able to stop time and the video shows the band members trying until the end, unfortunately in vain.
We all sit when our time has come in one and the same boat, no matter whether friend or foe like or in a war.
In the very last second of the video, by the way, we hear the first breath of a newborn human being.
cool - that ending is such a nice detail!
„Zeit“ (time)
Three creatures of destiny are named: their names are Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which is to come) and Skuld (guilt; that which should be). Their names are considered to be Norse equivalents of common medieval notions of time in the form of personifications of the past (Urd), present (Verdandi) and future (Skuld).
The song deals with the theme of death and the transience of life. These motifs are expressed within the video through various images and metaphors. At the beginning, when the band members are drowning in the sea, Lindemann sings about the river of time, in which all people are trapped. This metaphor is visualized by the drowning in the video. In the war scene, where children first play war and later a battle actually takes place, the band sings about the inability to stop the future: "You can't summon the future, you don't tolerate a stay". In the same place where children used to play, they now die in war. The song expresses the wish that the beautiful moments as children should always last. The women who give birth to their children at the Sandstrom represent the cycle of time. In the same place where the dead daughter will later appear, children will also be born. The farmer and his daughter are separated in a moment that seemed perfect for them. The father tries to stop his daughter, but fails. Accordingly, he mourns the moment. The character in the video is clearly identifiable as Death by the black cloak. However, the video also equates it with the concept of time, as the passage of time means everyone has to die at some point. Referring to the band, some fans and journalists suspect that Zeit could be Rammstein's last album, which could be another meaning of the album and song name.

What many people don't realize is that Rammstein even teased "Zeit" in the Video of "Deutschland" , the red laser, that Red light beams and lines is the timeline, the read thread that connects past , present and future.
The Videos for ZEIT and ANGST were directed by Robert Gwisdek, who is also one of my favorite german rappers, performing under his alias Käptn Peng. His Songs are usually about existence and reality itself, and how you perceive it and yourself. He is amazing (although pretty hard to listen to).

One interesting thing: There is a version of this video that's been shown in reverse. I watched this version while listening to the audio from the original clip and guess what it totally works. They managed to put these images together that they would work either way. Amazing.

The three Moirai names were Clotho, Lachesis, and Antropos, and each of them was the owner of a distinctive character which turned them into unique beings.
Clotho was the Fate who was also known by the name of Spinner because it was her duty to spin the thread of a person’s life from her distaff directly to her spindle.
She also made major decisions, for instance when a person was to be born. This allowed her to not only choose who was born, but also when gods or mortals were to be saved or put to death.
Once this task had been performed, Lachesis - always dressed in white - was in charge of its measurement, and according to every person’s length of thread, their lifespans were different.
This would represent their destiny, and she was in charge of deciding how much time of life was to be allotted to each person. It is also believed that she was in charge of choosing the fate of every person once the thread had been measured.
Atropos, who was the oldest of the three Fates, was also known as the Inevitable. She was closely related to death since it was Atropos who would choose the mechanism of death.
It was her task to end the life of mortals by cutting their thread. It was believed that the Fates would appear within three days of someone’s birth to decide their fate.
The three Moirai, or Fates represented the cycle of life, essentially standing for birth, life, and death.
They would spin (Clotho), draw out (Lachesis) and cut (Atropos) the thread of life.

Heyhey, i just want to give you a slight hint to the Directors of this Clip. It was Directet by "Kreisfilm" and these are mainly the Gwisdek Brothers, known as "Käpt`n Peng und die Tentakeln von Delphi". One of them is a really, really!!! good German raper/Hiphoper (i realy dont know because im not that much into the scene but i realy Enjoy his music) and his Brother does the Video and Production Stuff (maybe they both doing it... I`dont know). But back in the days there Musik were awesesome, and it is still today (for example "wer bist ich" (with bad Video quality but deep meanings) or "Kündigung 2.0, or "Der Anfang ist Nah" The Videos are partly a few Days back but so you can immagine the career from selfmade hiphop Videos to "beeing the Director of a Rammstein Music Video..." very Interesting tho...
The magic of rammstein is not the music just by it. Its the mixture of music, visual art, and the best fucking liveshows in the world. Its more like performance art with music.

I'm not positive as I haven't seen anything on the making of this video, but I imagine a number of these effects could be capture by filming sand falling (in an hourglass) and pouring sand on a pile and having it run down and then reversing the video to produce the effect of sand flowing backwards.

You made an imnpressive reaction, guys. Well, various reactions to the Rammstein video 'Zeit' speculate who and what the three eerie, faceless figures could be. Sometimes they are equated with time itself, sometimes with death. But I think Rammstein or the director are referring to an old pre-Christian myth. In pre-Christian Germanic faith, there were the goddesses of fate, called the Norns, who spun the thread of life for every human being beforee it was born and thus determined his or her life even before birth. When the time've come then, the Norns cut the thread of life again and the person dies. In this respect, however, the three figures (Norns) are neither good nor evil. They're just doing their job basically...

Hi, the sand in the video was real. There was an interview in the recent MetalHammer with the director and they had a lot of fun with tons of sand. They had to dry it prior the shot because it was too wet :D
