Trench Master Mike here. For trenching I really like the 306 especially for our Michigan Winters. The power hands down is well worth it. For some reason though, I feel that I can out trench it with my 304 in the summer. Both Machines I use are only a couple years old but just a opinion for what I do. The extra just under 3’ reach is nice but Scratching to yourself when you’re digging takes a bit longer and not as fluent compared to the 304. The 304’s control is sick. I know a vet can Johnny Hancock with that machines response no problem. Personally I try to dig and get rid of the spoils in one steady motion. The 306 leans just a slight bit more towards the bigger excavators in responsiveness and you have to pay a bit more attention on your shake back in. Other than that maybe it’s not as ideal for close quarters combat but for any other scenario I would prefer the 306. She’s the Cadillac Truck of the mini excavators.
