Brought mine home yesterday. Pulled with a srw 3500. Pulled great. Went across feed store scales, 27,560 combined vehicle weight.
Just operated one at the GIE Expo. It was very nice.
Great video 👌. Ill be definitely looking at this cat 306 when I go to purchase.
Greg you’re always on point! 👍
Can't wait to demo one. The 305.5 was just a tad on the weak side. I hope the 306 is my answer.
Hey Wayne. Nice hat!
Pretty handy machine l think, good size PAT blade that’s pretty handy, as long as they have upped the track drive motors, you can not get the drive motor to climb enough with out assistances, all this comes down to price in the end.
Thanks
it saw good to operate
Impressive stuff I wonder how many attachments can you get with this mini excavator
So can you put forks on tool carrier ,with bucket attachment .
I tow my 306 with my 7x14 20k dump trailer, i made a support for the bucket to rest on the front right side and rest the thumb on it and chained to the sidewall, it tows it perfectly.
Certainly a big advantage I see with this vs 308. Pretty dang close in capability but still able to tow it on a 10t trailer, instead of needing to step up to a 12t+
5-6 ton machines are popular with non-cdl rigs. truck is 9k, trailer is 3.5k, machine 12k
nice machine
Why would want to get rid of the pedals??? Multi tasking is your benefit with an excavator. Tracking while doing stuff is a must.
its a game changer with the blade
I thought you had the option of using the joystick or the pedals when tracking.
How many times has every one been to job site and there is a pallet of bricks or blocks right where you want to dig!..I am hoping they have made the front window more sturdy in the frame and not easily affected by vibration.locks and frame always fall a art on the 305/5 we have .
I’ve been operating for a long time and I wonder how useful the stick steer would actually be
its great when using the blade
I would absolutely love it! Since I still have trouble with the panels after all these years. It would be just like driving a joystick control skid steer loader or John Deere dozer.
Cat tried stick steer years ago on one of the bigger excavators with the stick coming up from the floor where the pedals would have been.
It’s the best thing they’ve done. I’d rank it equal with a hydraulic thumb on useful.
Do you have a 6 way blade for it?
Tried to demo one in Arkansas in January of 20, my dealer said they didn’t know when they would be available, what’s up with that?
Looks like a wonderful machine, but I sure have questions about the tracks on it. It doesn't look like they have added any bottom rollers. Just looks to light for carrying the weight, turning. That is no way built like a skid steer. I would run those tracks off or wear them out is a short time. Sure looks like a good idea, but put a skid steer undercarriage on it.
You don’t have to buy a new excavator to get the Bluetooth features mentioned on the Caterpillar- You could just buy a pair of lovely “3M PELTOR WS ALERT XPI” Headsets.
Angle blade isn’t available until April 2020. Tried to buy one today. You can only get straight blade 😩
You need to tell people that it is not a 6 ton machine especially for having to float the machine it weighs 15900lbs it's a 7.9 ton machine
I don't why cat calling the 306.5 a 6 ton base weight is 13614 almost 7 tons
Was considering demoing one but not now.
Allen Long Why not?
Not zero swing. Too much garbage. Stick steer really? Too many buttons too much to go wrong and cat has enough problems as it is.

Allen, i like what you said in the reply. Excavators I got 320c and 304c...for me perfect for big and small around lake tahoe and foothills CA etc but guess who wants shut me down/ fines/ letters = CARB. CA Air Resources Board and they don't play, CA up the staff to undercovers and law enforcement-like rights u got me. Anyways all my colleagues around these parts spend $$$ on DEF fixs and unnecessary wiring problems / CDM crap and no mechanics understand all the technology and nothing gets fixed quick u know. I really want a new 306 w/ none of that crap, make it like C or D before and NO DEF especially! Recommendations?? Anybody agree?
...wishthey would expand on all possibilities of the XTC! No other excavator has it, yet they gloss over it...frustrating!
They need to put the XTC on a 3.5 ton machine. I like the idea of stick steer and cruise control.
they stopped making the 304.5xtc 😭 love 306 but please cat,mr worley for christmas i want next gen 304.5 xtc or a 305 that looks like this ! 🤘
I am struggling to see the value in having an excavator every 2-3k lbs. If i am going to the hassle of bigger trailers and more expensive tags/cdl i would jump to an 8 ton, not a 7 ton that is pretending to be a 6 ton. Again why call it a 6 ton when it weighs nearly 16k. All the EH controls make me question the reliability and premium cost.
I wish i was rich i like to have one
whats the price?
around 60k
Where at? I paid close to 100. Check it out on my channel

You know guys, stick steer is nice but, what would be even better is if Cat stepped back and changed the footrests on both sides of the travel pedals to one side right the right side is forward travel and the left side is reverse travel with a small lever somewhere for steering like the old 200 series machines. It was a much better way to travel these machines anyway.
Cat copied stick steer from a company called Mecalac!
Mecalac still has a lot of features that nobody else has including caterpillar!
Check out the demo videos on UA-cam.
Mecalac.
Mecalec needs more pump then they might compete.
I run a mecalac and as long as you don’t need to turn your fine, the steering is terrible
Take any new Cat mini for a test drive and then take a Deere Hitachi mini, thrn run away from Cat. You're welcome.
You're such a funny cheapskate counterfeit!!!
