Tbh if i would be in the same situation i would trust my skills more than something i am not comfortable with^^ simply because he learned what he can do and he should know his borders about how far he can push himself while with magic he basically knows nothing about it. For example what if it may heals wounds but not diseases? :D
@@Animama01 It's fair to stick to what you know. But if you don't take advantage of new treatments... even if they are "magic" or seem to be... then you like most "by wrote" doctors that exist. There is no way a highly skilled person would not take the opportunity to employ magic if given the chance. What I dislike about these stories is the blanket idea that today's medicine would actually work this well in these situations. One of the main reasons current day medicine works so well is that the environment itself over time is "clean"... that is not the case in these stories where this doctor is cutting into people and doing surgical work in the nasty wild. With his knowledge he will know how to improve the odds... but not to this much. But... that is why this is a fantasy... after all... part of these stories is to fantasize about how much of an affect advanced medicine can have in medieval times.

Edit: yes i agree its pretty basic but at the same time it takes a different approach. But who likes to read storys where the mc fails every time? I mean if he improves over time then yes okay but its pretty unique regardless since most other manwhas of this kind only treat other humans and not like elves, dwarfs (or monsters in one specific other manwha^^)
@@Animama01 I did not watch all of it... I got tired of the problems I mentioned so it put me off the story.
I agree with you that no one wants to see an MC that fails often. But with his level of knowledge in medicine... his "magic" should be far more exceptional.
Kinda like... imagine a cave man who knows about fire vs what a common person today knows about fire. The caveman would think we were magicians when we pull out a lighter and start a fire compared to what they have to do to get one started.
So sure... the magic is weak... but that would be because of lack of understanding. Magic would be similar to skill in real life... the more knowledge you have the more effective your skill is likely to be right? So with his medical knowledge his magic should be downright full heal because he would know about vasculature in ways they don't. He would understand "cells" and "virus" and "bacteria" so his magic would account for those things while ignorant magic would not. He also understands the basic functions of the organs and would know how to use magic to be essentially a mobile testing lab!
I am just saying the author really missed a great opportunity to do more.... and because he kept missing it... I could not keep watching until the end.

I saw this one recapped on another channel or maybe read the manga a while back, I don't remember, I'm a sucker for Isekai stuff. Anyway I skipped ahead to get to after Lindwurm's tumor removal. I missed something though; Is Alec a man or a woman? I know the AI kept referring to Alec as she/her & the char had a very effeminate facial appearance but I just kept wondering? Do you recall?

Its fuckin magnificent. Though it's a bit jarring how they have modern clothing while being in the middle ages technologically, I dont hate it.

me: medication stories are amazing! specially when the main character is helping out fantasy creatures between elves, beastkin, and whatnot.. and the enemy is always humans! i'd love to write a medical novel like this!

One suggestion for your videos; it would be great if you could have a pause like taking a deep breath when you change topics. It would be like a paragraph when reading. New paragraph, new thought and there is a pause between. I don't think anyone actually practices this and it would make it much easier to follow instead of all blending together. Why not be the first.

You described it as dark, I don't really feel like that description applied. This is a good one though, I usually don't like this type but it was really interesting. It annoyed me how he kept letting everyone call him a magician instead of demanding they correctly call him doctor. I just felt like that was a blatant, totally see through way for the author to cook up a problem a bit later with the humans. SACRELIDGE!!and all that.

... In OUR world the ratio is ~7.5 billion to only 12 million doctors, or 625 patient to 1 doctor (if evenly spaced). Thats 1000: ~1.4, which is less than in the manga. Sound's like they're doing better. Still no love or recognition for nurses even in manga it seems.
