childhood memories. I remember, One day i was very sick, was a 10 year old kid. stayed home from school. I played this game while also enjoying a cheese melt sandwich. reached that Snow level. it was awesome.
Ristar had the greatest clear round music and cutscene in the history of gaming. It really felt damn great, after defeating a surreal boss to fly high across the universe onto that sweet melody... Thank you Sega.
Ristar is one of the best games created for the Megadrive/Genesis 16 bit era. The Gfx, music, art and gameplay are top notch. One of those underrated gems indeed.
this message goes to all you ristar fans out there in this version I honestly believe that it's ultimately heartwarming to see ristar reunite with his father
It is! I just played it for the 1st time around 2 years ago (summer, 2021) probably around the time you wrote this comment! I came back to this video cause I'm playing it again and having trouble on the fire level. lol
I mean, sega's always had a good awareness of character and background differenciation. Back when games like this were made, they kinda didn't get that you needed to make everything stand out in its own way so you dont blend everything together. This game does well because everything shines. Well done
Ristar in my opinion is very similar to Dynamite Headdy, belive it or not. Both are yellow, both games features voice samples, both games have great graphics and beautiful music, both characters attack by headbutting, both games got localized in the International version and both games belongs in the category of "best Genesis games".
the valdi system (the official name for ristar's galaxy as seen in the Japan version) must have been impressive to accomplish back then (for the credits)
I'm just in loe with all those intricate animations Ristar has (when destroys a tree log or skids on ice uncontrollably). That was the late genesis game and damn they trully did their best xD
One of the best Platformers ever created. Beloved game... I have the game cartridge and still playing! Unfortunately on my emulator... :( My Mega Drive has lost its power source... :(
Well if you have another mega drive/genesis also play on a crt. Makes some levels background like freon blend together like a proper sunset. It looks really nice.
You guys who has ever played when your childhood..if u remember planet Sonata give your new experience for video game history..till now i cant forget music behind planet sonataa of ristar
Jackson It was discontinued around that time but we still got some major releases in 1996 like Sonic 3D, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and Vector Man 2 so it was still possible had they started development straight after this one.
I searched for a full playthrough of this game since I remember being very fond of it but never got to finish it. Now I realize that kid me never even got pass the 1st stage 😂 it's nice to finally see the rest of this game from my childhood
I used to have SONIC ultimate genesis collection and i played this and never beaten it and when i got the mobile ver. I managed to beat the game and i never felt anymore happier😎😎😎😎😎😎

Why ? I really like it !
Yea, stupid peoples. Awesome game. Hard work, good soundtracks.
Genisis game?
Underrated eh? Complete copy of this game is like 200 bucks 😂
Fux News I play Quackshot more than Ristar 😂👍🏻

In the Japanese version, Ristar has a mom who happened to be a goddess.
@@poweroffriendship2.0 Ristar comes from good stock, then. One parent is a deity, the other a legendary hero!
I feel like this game is finally getting the attention that it deserves and I love it
Great news: It's included in the Sega Genesis Mini 2!

Let's pray that it is one of the franchises that SEGA brings back :''c
This game is a underrated masterpiece seriously the game really needed a sequel.
Maybe, Sega will be remaking the first Ristar game to boost up Ristar's popularity before working on the sequel.
I remember getting this brand new for my birthday as a kid. Great memories, the soundtrack alone brings a nostalgic tear to my eye.

Me too
Such a classic memory. Renting this game for the weekend, falling in love and then renting it over and over and over again!
It's criminal that this never became a franchise. A real shame.
quite possibly my all-time favorite Sega Genesis game.
you can get this game on your phone I think www. happy bay. com if you really want to... but it's not the same as playing on a controller
Shinobi III baby! ⚔️
It’s in Sega forever baby

This soundtrack automatically unlocked all my hidden memory segments about my early childhood.

One of the best Sega Mega drive / Genesis games and I love it
The Mega Drive was a beast for it's age it was only 3 years newer than the Master System but graphics are miles better.
This game and Dynamite Headdy are underrated. Sega should not focus only in doing Sonic games.
Yeah, I've had enough with the Sonic games! It's literally time to move on!

Sega's answer to Kirby, and also Klonoa: DtP before Klonoa: DtP.
One of the best Genesis/MD games, just awesome!
Who here is replaying this on the Switch?

love the tunes in this game
Ristar could have gotten a sequel on the Game Boy Advance in 2004.
rescuehero942 really?
Out of all things, GBA? Ew
rescuehero942 No Sega Saturn would have been perfect due to its 2D power or hell even a sequel on Mega Drive in 1996.
I'm sure the Genesis was discontinued around that time, so that wouldn't have been a possibility.
