My mom would prepare the potatoes, I arranged them in the oven dish, poured 1 Liter of Milk, grated nutmeg, salt, pepper, diced butter and plenty of cheese (we used Kiri and Gruyère). Thank you
Potatoes au Gratin have always seemed so intimidating, so though I’ve wanted to for so long, I’ve never even attempted to make them. Last week I bought everything to make a different recipe & never went through with it. Your recipe looks AMAZING and the process is simplified to take away any doubt or stress. You’re so right - anything with potatoes, cheese & a cream sauce will be a crowd pleaser. Thank you for sharing! I will absolutely be serving these alongside prime rib on Christmas & I can’t wait for everyone to enjoy them!

Last time I made the dish, I fried the potatoes in the air fryer with a spoonful of oil and then assembled it. It took it to a different level, the taste was much deeper. Happy holidays. ❤
I sliced my finger on a mandolin making your other potato au gratin recipe for Thanksgiving. Still came out amazing and I would do it again for this one. But I will be more careful this time 😂
I layer the potatoes, cream, and cheese like lasagna. Cheese throughout the whole gratin makes the sauce thicker and more flavorful. I also add fresh grated parmesan with each layer. She only had a topping of cheese and it slid off. What about the other poor naked and not as flavorful potatoes?😂
Thissss! I use a larger dish too so the potatoes cook more evenly. And having that melted butter on the top like that, not stirred in will not give that cheese anything to adhere to lol. I’ve never in my life seen someone just throw it all in there all Willy Nilly like this 😳😳

I found creamy Italian garlic dressing (Maria's). Omg it was so delicious. Maybe you can show us how to make homemade. But you have to try it and let me know what you think. ❤❤😂
Ahh you lost me at nutmeg, I could compare it to like a shark with blood, I can taste even the smallest amount in a dish. My mama used to make rice pudding with nutmeg and I just can’t cope with it in a savoury dish. That aside, I’d just leave it out, it still looks banging ❤️
Well UA-cam must have jokes because they changed the language mid video from English to German. My one semester of German in seventh grade isn’t cutting it right now. But let me tell ya, wow it’s the same in both languages and Laura used it several times in this video.

I've been doing this recipe for years and it never comes out fully cooked through. Maybe because I do every thing the night before and pop it cold into the oven ? I think that's the only thing different I'm doing.
Definitely takes a lot longer if it’s cold. Slice the potatoes really thin, sometimes it takes about an hour for the potatoes to cook covered and another 45 minutes for them to cook uncovered. Depends on the thickness of the potatoes and the heat of your oven

I also sliced my finger on a mandolin once and rushed to the hospital and had 6 stiches . I don't have a mandolin anymore
@ I was lucky not requiring stitches but was bandaged up for about 2 weeks. It’s essentially all healed now.
