Bed-Stuy's ICONIC DELI! Is David's Brisket House NYC's Best Pastrami?
Вставка

- When most people think of the iconic Jewish delis in NYC, they typically picture a Manhattan delicatessen. The iconic Katz's Deli comes to mind, as well as 2nd Ave Deli and Sarge's Deli, However, one of the most under the radar spots for the best pastrami in NYC and the best corned beef in NYC is David's Brisket House in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
David's Brisket House was originally opened as a traditional Jewish Deli but it was purchased by Yemeni Muslims. Rather than do away with the menu, however, they largely kept many of the original offerings. The menu is no longer kosher, rather it made the transition to Halal, but it still sells pastrami on rye, corned beef, and brisket sandwiches. They also added some Middle Eastern cuisines and we tried the Moroccan harira soup during this visit.
While a bit out of the way for anyone in Manhattan or commuting from out of the state like I am, David's Brisket House in Bed-Stuy is quickly building a reputation as one of the best old-school Jewish delis around, despite no longer being Jewish-owned and operated! I do not keep kosher or halal. I keep just one dietary restriction in life: Everything I eat must be delicious!

Nice to have you in my establishment. We carry multiple sizes. We make 4 different size sandwiches to consider everyone’s budget and also appetite. We are Halal and we serve Jewish style products.
That was sweet of you to go compliment them before you left, UA.
i love that he did that!!!!! he should do that more often especially for mom and pop places. they love hearing it
@@RyanCoomer absolutely.
Please NEVER stop your dad humor.
He's got the Dad humor down!
Your a true Gentleman UA and Thanks for another great review. Keep making Awesome videos!
As usual UA love the culinary critique glad you find out the way establishments ..... please keep finding these types of places I learn from you.I know I'm not alone with that👍🍽️
That soup looked soo good. Would love it on a cold winter day
Cool to see you around my area! Will def check this spot out
UA, you're the best...love your reviews!
Everything looks so delicious! I love corned beef, too. Fantastic review.
I've been watching your videos for a long time, you're my favorite food youtuber ever. I hope you do a Korean BBQ review soon !
On point review thank you…
You don't drink soup you eat it , the soup is tomato based that is thickened with rice or vermicelli its meant to break the fasting during Ramadan hence its lighter healthy vegetable soup
UA: overall that's a super stop! I love that type of thick lentil-like soup! Again at $13 each for a nice, decent, normal sandwich it's a real winner! Now, I'm sure that the rent in Bed-Stuy is a lot cheaper than the city so the prices reflect a very good value! Also, it's a neighborhood location that the NYPD lunches at!
Such a solid name for a restaurant. Brisket house? I’m sold.
David's Brisket House is excellent. I miss it. I used to eat there all the time, but it is too hard for me to get to now.
People come from miles away to purchase their food. Glad you enjoyed it!
If you can’t come we can come to you. We do shipping to any where in the United States.
Fair play for broadening your cultural food horizons 😀. Heading to NYC soon, can't wait to sample the food there!
I'm a ambulette driver and would pickup patients in area and would stop by to eat Jewish food run by Muslims in a African American neighborhood . Management knew me years ago and treated me real well . Omar was manager then . For price and food and ambience I love it there .great video
You mean Amberlamps driver?
@PeeBurps-gk7cu ambulette is non emergency take patients in vans
I was here to hear the obligatory "why don't we". So corny that it's cool.🤔😂🤣
@skizztrizz4453...There are some videos where he say`s that 8-10 times....then it gets a bit old
@@johnmalerba804 I'd much rather hear UA say "why don't we" than the absolutely annoying "let's go" everyone says over and over and over again.
Imagine playing a drinking game where you have to take a shot every time he says, "Why don't we".
What’s up with his old time pianey music
@@PeeBurps-gk7cu That drives me nuts. I feel like I'm in the Longbranch with Marshall Dillon and Ms Kitty. Gunsmoke.📽️🎥🎞️🎬
@uaeats great review as always and appreciate your authenticity; my wife and I are obsessed with your reviews. Just curious, what is your set up for these reviews like mic, camera, and tripod? I travel for work for a living in a different state each day but also based in Queens NY with some of the most diverse authentic cuisine. Been wanting to do some food reviews.
They used to have a Davids Brisket house in Bay Ridge. I loved their Brisket sandwich. Too hard to travel to know but after your review, I think I will travel there.
It's crazy to me that he didn't get the brisket at the brisket house. And brisket there is always thick cut, not thin like the other meats.
@@robbiedaniels2164You are right. I always got the brisket in Bay Ridge. I should have tried the pastrami. Maybe when it gets warmer, I will make the long trip. Really miss that that sandwich. 😢
Super Nintendo Sega Genesis. When I was dead broke man I couldn’t picture this.
Omg can’t believe you asked if they had matzoh ball soup :) too funny!
Why wouldn't he ask? They are serving Jewish deli staples; it would make sense if they offered a matzo ball soup of some sort - in fact I'm kind of shocked they didn't. And I'd love to see what a Halal version of matzo ball soup would be like.
Some people on this post are saying that this neighborhood is Crown Heights. Actually, David's Brisket,
as mentioned in the video, is in fact, in Bedford Stuyvesant (Bed-Stuy). Crown Heights begins after Atlantic Avenue.
Love the review those pickles looked wonderful lol I would have mangled both of them sandwiches $$$$$man
UA makes a nastier face the better it is. Love it.
UA. You have to try Tenafly Kosher Deli & Caterers, on Washington st. in Tenafly NJ. I have been there and loved it!
Hands down the most entertaining, balanced and informative food channel on UA-cam!
I like the music, and thought so before reading the comments. Great videos, UA.
UA drops a video....I drop what I'm doing to watch.😊
Good on the mirroring 👍👍
2nd 👍! HI UA! Can't wait to experience this
Hope you enjoyed it!
Take a drink every time you hear the word "viscous". You'll have a pretty good buzz going.
This place is so good. My usual order is the medium pastrami sandwich with cheese fries.
That small size sandwich would be an extra large here in California.
yeah that is a normal sandwich here in South Florida
The sandwiches looked good. Also the soup. I’m not a big soup eater. But when I do I prefer the thicker heartier type of soups.
"Halal, Kosher, Irish...who cares?" You win the internet today, UA.
reddit moment
Rye bread is one of the best breads for its low sugar content and rich flavor. Further, it holds up well to the fat in the meat.
UA, you're so honest
Great video, from looking at the video, those sandwiches look pretty light?
He ordered the small option
Love their corned beef. I'm not a pastrami fan in general. Their in-house soups are really good 3:03
The price point and portion size is perfect.
UA is so pure
UA with the Corny Beef jokes lol
That looks spot on. Properly portioned and reasonably priced plus tasty. Plenty of hope for Middle East if Muslims can take over and operate a Jewish deli retaining the Davids name - embrace diversity.
Hello UA , I'm fairly new to your channel, so I'm playing catch-up. Enjoying your videos, wondering why your " mole ", switches from one side of your jaw to the other on different videos?
That is how the soup is supposed to taste 😂😂 you eat it with bread and its a meal
For what ? A stick figure ? 😂
UA you have to try essen deli on coney island. It’s fully kosher and would give any deli you’ve tried a run for their money.
As far as I understand the dietary codes , if you are Jewish/ Muslim you can consume the same meat because it is slaughtered /processed in the same way . The food looked great .😊
Bed stuyvestant is Bklyn yeah in that borough.
I am 100% that Inca chicken opened their first store at that address in 1988!! How is this place opened for 50yrs? Were they across the street originally? I remember there was a deli/coffee shop right across where the owner was always interested in taking over 533. Wow memories! Inca chicken is at 122 wyckoff in bushwick now!!
I lived in nyc and I can't for the life of me understand why people like dry bread for sandwiches, especially pastrami and corn beef❕️
You got to check out Pastrami Grill in Garfield, New Jersey. Bang for your buck and the food is great!
YUM!!!
😋😋😋😋😋
Safe Journey!
Yellowbird Blue Agave Sriracha!!!
Harira is my favorite Moroccan soup that I always eat when I go there. I will have to get out to Bed Stuy to try this spot. I am curious to see how Yemenis make it compared to Moroccans. In Morocco harira can be bought as cheap as 5 dirham (50 cents) and I always get 2.
I’m just here crying about the wasted pickles. For me, that makes the sandwich twice as good. Both of those sandwiches looked great with or without pickles, though.
Pastrami Grill in Garfield,NJ has good pastrami, check them out.
It's heavy and light. Am I the only one that's confused
You should try Benjamin’s steakhouse. Went there during NYC restaurant week and was a good deal. Curious what you would think about the steak! A lot of celebrities have been there!
It's actually the next video! How'd you guess?
Haha awesome! Lucky guess I suppose.
when you start pickin at food with your fingers, thats how you know its good🔥
How were the pickles?💜 Thank God it's Easter Sunday. I've been having red meat withdrawal since fat Tuesday damn penguins beating Catholic rituals into me 🙃
I honestly thought I was the only person who likes to rhyme "risk it" with "brisket" (or biscuit, for that matter).
Soup appears hearty and delicious! I do want to try it!
UA, you can try to speak a little less - so you can savor a bit more.
He is sort of a blabbermouth....
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
ringling brothers sandwich
the brooklyn cheesesteak is good u shouldve had one.
Try indian food next please you will love it😊
Would people be into this? I actually love Indian food but past vids on it haven't done well
@@uaeats you Totally will do well Brother, But it has to be a Good indian Restuarant.
No one is going watch unless UA does one of those insanely spicy challenges.😂
@@uaeats YES! Please!!!
@@uaeats At this point brother people are here to watch you, the type of food you do is starting to matter less and less. Do what you want to do!
Went there last week! Hilarious you skipped the brisket at the brisket house, which is easily the best meat there (order large sandwich next time).
You have great taste in food. Grew up eating everything Jewish.
I am so jealous
kinda xpensive 13 bux for a small sammy imo! it looked dryAF but i haven't eatened many deli sammys in my life lolz . i eat at subways for 12in meatball thats only 7bux cdn when theres a deal
Since when was $13 acceptable for some sandwich with pickles??? 😢
I need to step my hustle game up…
Any suggestions ?
I’m broke. 😮
If you are into some of the outskirts of the boroughs. You should check out Trincity in Little Guyana in Queens. They do a great Double. Its a sort of fried filled roti with chickpeas, curry goat, oxtail or chicken. Amazing!
The soup is supposed to be that way. Everyone that cooks it has their own variations but the base is on point
Why dont you try Mr. Broadway/Ben’s in midtown? Mr. Broadway and Ben’s merged like a year ago. Its a truly kosher deli. Give the Glatt kosher places some representation!!
Looks delicious
No pickle review!? 😂
Only one. Katz’s.
Enjoy your videos. Wish you would broaden your culinary horizons to go beyond steak, pizza, and pastrami.
I have! Not long ago I've done Stl style BBQ, authentic Chinese food, Vegas buffets, even a Native American restaurant. You can visit my channel page from time to time if UA-cam is only recommending my deli and steak vids to you
TOLD YOU!!!
You forgot about the pickle s...lol
David's Brisket House was here in Bay Ridge for a few years, which seemed a bit odd because we're not really a Jewish or hip neighborhood. But there is an Arab community here (and David's is run by Muslims). Not sure of any other place to get good brisket in my area anymore, bummer
Bruh just take a train ride and go to bed Stuy aint that far from bay ridge. Awesome stuff honestly 🤤
Yummy! Drooling too...
what makes something Kosher to Halal? I always assumed they were similar.
They are. But halal requires Muslim prayers.
Damn so many negative comments, haters gonna hate 😅 dont worry about these idiots and their stupid comments....keep up the good work 👏🏻
Lots of clown comments. I enjoy his videos a great deal. Don't know why people watch if they don't like the channel. Makes no sense.
You didn't eat the pickle 😢
Very rude. He comes off as a horses ass.
Biggy hmmm hope Diddy isn't near 😂😂
Anything with the name David it has to be good at least that's what my wife says. Lol
You went to a place that has brisket in it's name and didn't try the brisket?
Brisket is a cut of beef used to make both pastrami and corned beef (and Montreal Smoked Meat)
Interesting a Jewish deli with a pro Palestine sign in the window. Great content as always
It’s not a Jewish deli.
Ua is starting to forget about langers, he is due for a LA 2.0 trip
-bedsty still fuxed up neighborhood but yes ,much better area from decades ago but still - ppl gettn bodied in that neighborhood- 🙏🏽
No, I don’t know!
Went there for lunch. Got very sick and robbed outside of restaurant😢😮😢
more food reviews not the same food please :(
Why is food in america so expensive ua let me know?!
Fun fact, Muslims can eat Kosher food, as long as no alcohol is added to it 👍
*UA!*
It's a hot soup it's a liquid soup it's a chunky soup it's both liquid and chunky at the same time
about half the meat or less than what you get at Katz
for about half the price
and you get half the flavor.
Brooklyn. You might not to mention Biggie right now after the PDiddy scandal.
Biggie is from that neighborhood. There are several references and a few murals dedicated to him all throughout that neighborhood and the surrounding area. It was absolutely appropriate for UA to bring his name up in this video.
