  • After the terror group Hamas massacred Israelis on October 7, 2023, the National Library of Israel in Jerusalem began collecting art, memorabilia, tributes and oral testimonies that speak to the horror of that time for its archives. Their growing collection of millions of items, called "Bearing Witness," aims to be the definitive record of that terrible day and its aftermath. Likewise, the Palestinian Museum in the West Bank city of Birzeit has been collecting and displaying artwork by Gazan artists that document the devastation of the ongoing war. Correspondent Seth Doane talks with curators about bridging the cultural and political rift through art, and preserving the human stories that, they say, must be told.

This is one of the most powerful and cutting stories I’ve ever seen. CBS masterfully presents a balanced perspective on the ongoing conflict. The National Library of Israel in Jerusalem is collecting art and testimonies that document the horror of the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre, while the Palestinian Museum in Birzeit showcases Gazan artists’ works depicting the devastation of the war. Both sides remain indifferent to each other, and you can feel the blame each set of artists places on the other for the conflict. It’s a deeply poignant and sharp piece of reporting.

    A complicated question??
    NO! It is NOT!
And not to address that fact means there will never be peace!

So they each are given names and individual stories - but not the same thing for the 40,000 and counting 😢 Palestinians??! There can be no healing 😭 without seeing each human as the same under God.🙏

The Palestinian people don't see that. They think that anyone who is not following Islam as an infidel!!!! This is war!

They are trying to do something positive here. But it does not mean it negates what is happening in Gaza too. In the video, it also talks about the Palestinians prospective, too. There are lots of rights and wrongs on both sides. Nothing will be gained from negativity and blame. If there is going to be any hope for peace, both sides must come together and work it out.

Where are the Iraqi "detainees" at Gitmo? Where are the "spies" rotting in U.S. jails? (The ones you've never heard of until there is a high profile prisoner swap) The list goes on...for us (U.S.)...but this B.S. with Israel is ethnic cleansing...PERIOD. As it is written in their ridiculous book that is not law. But they violate real law AND commit the exact same atrocities that for decades they used as a crutch to garner vast wealth and power. THAT makes them the worst of all terrorists!

What is the biggest tragedy of this for me is that Netanyahu knew for a year from intelligence, even Egypt warning this would happen. He ignored and sacrificed his people. He still is, in my opinion. The Israelis were so traumatized that day. That will never go away. Yet the man leading this retribution, is so aligned with the crazy right wing and trying to save his own self from answering to possibly going to jail for corruption. He is not his brother, who was the lone soldier to die rescuing the Entebbe Hostages in Uganda. He dishonors his brother. He and Sharon never much liked Palestinians or a solution. So here we are with 2 war criminals, Sinwar and Netanahu, leading this crazy into the future. All of it breaks my heart. Thank you for covering.

Unlike the false reporting in the piece, there are still 101 hostages in Gaza. The sad report depicting a museum for Palestine when no such state has even been declared. Has the philistine authorities ever declare a state?

Notice how the librarian was more defensive than the Palestinian artist, good reporting on both sides…but hard to see the other’s death and suffering when you are drowning in your own

That is subjective. This is your opinion. The male curator was extremely defensive. Not able to acknowledge the brutality of the 7th! Terrorist supporter!
