  • During lock-down I've run out of new cut off discs and I need accurate cuts for a project. This is a walk through - recorded real time (edited later) - the result is nothing amazing but it is simple and effective.

      Cheers Graham! Yes - it really did the job on the project I needed it for - nice and simple but a game changer on this occasion. The alternative was borrowing a cut-off or some new cut-off discs but in our current situation traveling to pick them up would have been breaking the law! So much preferable just to have a bit of a think about it.

      G'day mate. This probably isn't the best place to put this, but, I'm gunna... lmao 😆
      I have signed a ton of petitions for our slack gov to pull their fingers out and pay New Zealanders social security payments that have lost their jobs here and are stranded. We have won, I think...lol. The petition I signed are asking to hear from Kiwis that are in this predicament here. Do you know anyone, or anyone there that's has friends or family here? Pass this link along to help with the numbers needing support while here.

I've had various friends and family living in Aus over the years but at the mo just one aunty that I'm in touch with and she would know a ton of kiwis there so I'll forward the link to her. sidenote: I lived in Sydney and worked at the Maccas on Broadway for a short while when I was a young fella 18/19 years old. I knnow the blade guard is a pain when you want to cut things with the angle grinder.. but you really don't want to see what hapend when one of those spinning blades blow up. They shot blade pieces faster than bullets all around you..I have a neighbor that got hurt really bad on his face by a blade blowing up on his angle grinder.. and he didn't had a blade guard nor a face mask protection on. Jeeez .. he got lucky he didn't lost an eye.. or both...but his face changed forever.

      Cheers Pete. Got the job done but man is metal working difficult. They say mig welding is easier than arc, but when you have massive gaps right at the outset from shoddy cuts - I can't see how it helps. Might take me a while to find an investor in this production run Pete 😵.

    • @PeteBeardsley
      @PeteBeardsley 4 роки тому

      @@TakamiWoodshop If you ever get the opportunity to beg borrow or steal a MIG welding set for a few days, I'd recommend giving it a go, it really is a lot easier to get on with, especially on thinner metal. Having said that, you seem to be doing just fine with the stick welder.

    • @TakamiWoodshop
      @TakamiWoodshop  4 роки тому

      @@PeteBeardsley I'd *love* to have a go with one. I'm glad I've given stick welding a go but I'm over it because I don't have time to practice and the results are very unreliable for beginners. As long as I stick to simple "rough" items I'll be fine but any sort of detail .... hmmmm ... results uncertain.
