Interesting take, but these mechanics are time-consuming, so it won't be dominating the genre. I love that Pax Dei exists because I've been waiting for a real sandbox since SWG closed, but it's absolutely a niche title. Personally I hope it stays that way, because mass adoption (courtesy of WoW) is what caused these type of sandbox mechanics to disappear over the last 20 years.
Time consuming is not the problem in my opinion tho. Combat needs a complete overhaul and we need more sandbox elements to have other types of activities. This means quests and npcs just maybe in their own zones. I was heavily into final fantasy 11 which is its own version of the sandbox style and is something this game could learn alot from. Even 23 years later I have more in game conversations in ffxi than any other mmo I've played. I need activities that bring people together not a player base just telling me my playstyle is wrong for being solo. Also I did not buy this because of the tiered early access prices. I feel I cannot make an informed choice on price without fully knowing what the impact of having 1-4 plots is and feels pay to win.
wow a bunch of sentences that describe "we maybe will fix the game, but we aren't sure what we are doing at all, so maybe it might not change" repeated 20+ times. incredible "roadmap"
I agree that skins is how they will make a ton of money. In a highly social game where social interactions really matter, people are going to want to differentiate themselves. I know I will be a sucker for it, tbh.

there wont be any amazing reviews this is an extremely early alpha EA with tons of unpolished missing features. Do not buy it to have fun its mostly to test and give feedback

I definitely don't want to have to pay a subscription after early access ends. That's the main reason I don't play FF14 or WoW. ESO does it best imo. You can pay a subscription, get all the major expansions, some extra stuff, and coins to use in the cash shop every month; or you can pay for what you want individually and don't pay a monthly subscription.
ESO subscription model is the whole reason I avoid it and feel ff14 has done it best. Can't please everyone.
@@pipz420 I don't like subscriptions in general. As much as I'd love to play FF14, I'm not paying $180 a year, plus have to buy all the expansions as well. I'd feel like I'd be pressured to play FF14 all the time over something else just so I'd get my money out of it. I much prefer the buy to play model, and with ESO you get to choose. Having a reasonable alternative choice is always better imo.
@@BlackWinds oh I don't play ff14 anymore it's a misconception that it is an MMO and plays more like a single player game. You would spend less than $100 most likely and the first 3 stories are free. You can play a long time before needing to buy anything. I am more of a ff11s fan that also runs a sub but only has a 14 day free trial.
@@pipz420 Yeah I played FF11 for several months back in the day. Way back on x360. Back when it was brutal and you actually needed a party to level. I liked the way it forced the importance of roles otherwise you'd wipe even from basic mobs. I remember when abyssea came out my friend was trying to power level me, and I was the "key bitch" farming ruby light. My thief's level got into the 90s but my dagger skill was so low that I couldn't hit anything. Good times. I hope one day when the servers finally shut down, they'll release it as a standalone single player, or a peer to peer multiplayer game. Wishful thinking, but it would be a shame for it to disappear completely.
I played a little bit of the free trial for FF14. I liked the game but not being able to form your own party turned me off. I just wanted to mess around with a couple friends on the free version, but can't do that without someone with a subscription to invite us.
@@BlackWinds for nostalgia you should go back and try the current version of ff11s. The trust system makes it so you can play a lot of the storylines single player now.

This game needs a subscription model in order to keep it going long term. There's a reason most(if not all) MMORPGs without a subscription model don't last long, feel shallow af, or get shut down after a year or two. Because that one-time purchase model doesn't fund any MMORPG in the long term. There are exceptions to the rule(Guild Wars), but that's such a rare case scenario.

It needs a subscription but if they keep the tiered prices on plots instead of allowing them to be earned in game and avoid adding a plex/wow token, then this game will never take off and i will avoid it just like I have done eve and wow.

Weather, weather, weather -- woot! Edited to add -- personally I'm happy with game being sub based -- I subscribe to a lot of things. I don't mind subbing to a game I'm enjoying.
They won’t be releasing oce servers it’s a no from me.. sick of Australia getting f’d over by every mmo with high latency and poor server quality or not existence servers
I seen a Reddit post saying the server will be hosted in Singapore. Is that still gonna be shit ping for us Aussies?
I'm in Brisbane, been playing on the Asia-Pacific server and it's been fine, the only lag I get is graphical lag occasionally when there is a building with a ton of smelters going, and I'd say that can be optimised with time.
No future its a money grabbed. It's like Au$159.00 dollars here in Australia. Forget it! And looking at Reddit. There are so many issues and some are already clicking the refund.
Will there be marketplaces or inbuilt game cities or towns not managed by players to trade for gold/ingame currency? The game seems very complete already but I hope to see player based economy
Marketplaces are not currently in game, they will be coming in the next Early Access update I believe
the future is progression wipe in 2025 when they lift off the early access bandage yall gonna be grinding for nothing just like the alpha xD

they've said that they're eventually gonna bring this to every platform they can. they have internal working tests for mobile.

how's the clan going to work with ppl on different time zones will that be adjusted with other group with the same time zones or how is that going to be managed in your clan i wanna join but i'm worried that i won't be able to find a group of gmt+4 since we all gonna be like almost 12hrs or at least 6hrs apart which is a huge gap

I'd like Clan Wars combating for space or just for a beef, and faction based pvp. I loved Ultima Online that I could watch people pvping/pking each other but didn't have to take part in it. Loved seeing them run through Britannia butchering each other. I'm completely for buying non-gaming breaking pixel crack.

more than likely yes so that way everyone is on the same playing field right out of the gates. It'd be pretty pointless to get into this kind of MMORPG if the whole point of it is already set in stone by other players before anyone has a chance to build up their own(from Plots to Networking)
@@ikeaira8701 100% agree. I just wanted to make sure, because devs don't always make the most logical decisions...
They've confirmed it on the steam forum though. They also said that players should expect wipes during EA when major updates occured.
@@lightseeder358 True true, and that's sorta expected haha as there will def need to be major overhauls to systems in the game. Example A that I deem absolutely necessary before I even buy the game: "A Combat Overhaul."
This game needs to be 100 percent free to play, or it will be dead before it launches

That’s not gonna happen they would lose money on server maintenance and more content we gotta get out of this whole thinking these games n services are free because their not and a month subscription would make the community better due to it will vet out people that want to do azzholeish things like messing up a towns aesthetic just to be an azz 🤦🏾
