I'm playing on the same server and seeing someone from Olympus everywhere I go just grinding 24/7 is like witnessing beehive hard at work. I settled nearby the lake the castle is on and it literally just appeared overnight.
for as much polish as this alpha obviously needs, this already looks insanely fun! Must be cool just being out in the world gathering and vibing as loads of other people do the same. R u building something alone ? I'm just curious how hard it is to make a simple house by yourself
@@lildgamedev6885 oh yes, game still needs a lot of work, but the foundations are there. I play solo, because I wanted to test if it's even viable option. First two days I was building my house, it's not very big, but I'm kinda proud, so in terms of building you can definitely achieve some nice things solo, just bear in mind single plot is pretty small (if you connect plots with even single friend you get additional space between plots). Today I was working on crafting and man there is a lot of grind, you can easily see that solo player will need to choose a profession they want to specialise in and maybe trade with neighbours for things they cant craft themselves. Just one example: I want to build a forge for crafting, but materials required just for this station mean I have to gather 24 times full equipment of a plant. I've figured out good route now, so I can farm full bags in about 15 minutes, then few extra minutes for processing and so it goes. But that's just a crafting station, to level up for example armouring you will need to farm even more before you are able to craft anything good. Honestly it feels grindy, but achievable by solo player, which is good, because it simply encourages group play or at least interactions with players around.
@@lildgamedev6885it's a question of scale There's tons of differently sized houses and forts but the largest of them took at least 10 people's hard work or vision. Most of that is just gathering the resources from the land anyway. Which doesn't seem too difficult either, just a matter of knowing where to go. The real grind seems to be weapons and armor atm

This is what an MMO should be. A World for the Players, not for the Developers. Where the players are the heart and soul, where their efforts are what makes the world great. And by god, is it great.

Asmon with Biggest sword possible, huge kings/knight armor , shiny. true for a fitting king. The watchers has plate armor , llooks alright, his guard has different color plate and can be picked by the king

Personally, I'd feel like I'd just won the lottery. You claim your plot, and next thing you know, it's a highly sought-after location with a dope castle in the lake and likely plenty of spare resources to trade for with the new neighbors. Maybe get an invite to go raiding with them every once-in-a-while when it's late and there's only a few members online? Could turn out to be a fortunate turn-of-events tbh.
Really enjoyed watching this series, chill game and awesome wholesome community. Everything got built up in a day, when everyone started as naked people who couldn't even chop a tree lmao
Since there is no pvp outside of your safe zones, the devs should make it so you can build a specific building that makes NPCs attack your town/area every so often, so player can opt in to be sieged or attacked. Giving the benefit of getting loot to come to you at the risk of being attack. Will give more purpose to building these awesome huge castles/towns.
ESRB will never let us have true social PvP MMO. It will Second Life an MMO so hard that it makes stealth archer memes look genuine. Then you got bait and switch marketing, real world trading, plus the cheaters will be duping, Parasite Recruitment, Guild Overreach, beaters who squeal like stuck pigs until they reach max level.
as someone who does not play games of this nature i will say this is incredibly amazing in my opinion....the unity of this games emerging player base is amazing and anything that brings people together like this is a good thing....now if we could just translate this unity into our everyday lives imagine what the real world could be like.2 thumbs up from a pvp/pve shooter guy..just amazing!!!

Asmongold hasn't been so happy since a long time ago. This game feels like it healed him and his motivation to play RPG games, and it's so cool to watch 😁 And seeing all the work the guys are pouring into the buildings, makes me want to play the game too aaaaa 🥵
We are from the Tapios Order, we built the city. We came into the alpha with 28 people out of 120 players and are all German. We're glad you liked our city. But they're not finished yet c:
they should have it so that if a player becomes inactive for 30 days their buildings and castle is taken over by bandits or monsters and players can go into them like mini open world non-instanced dungeons. And once the player who built them comes back, he can reclaim them after killing all NPC that moved in. That way they can use all the shit that players build as content for everyone and solve the problem of having half the world taken by buildings that belong to players that are no longer active, without punishing those players if they decide the play again.
developers need to stop crapping out open world games where the player is intended to spend 90% of their time interlocking little hovering green rectangles to build a house that a developer interested in building an actual interesting world would've just bought off the unity store
You could make a whole separate map with motorcycles etc... and this game would still be great. They absolutely nailed the environment and ability to build and explore with friends

People can just copy minecraft in all it's aspect, battle, looting, gathering, building, crafting, etc but skin it in modern game graphic and many would flock to play it. That's the only thing stopping many from playing minecraft, it's aesthetic.

I feel like they should do seasonss but have the season split like 2/3 peacetime and then a conflict will brew between the largest clans and pvp will be the final third ending in destruction and domination before the servers reset for the next season. A month long battle as your clan conquers the 4 shards in your server would be insane

Was about to say, looking at all the Pax Dei streams he's posted, as long as they can make the rest of the game good, I could see this being a long long-term game for him. He gets to be a legendary king with his viewers, and have an actual castle, or multiple in this case. Thankfully, if there's one thing EVE Online devs are good at, it's making a gigantic game that you can spend multiple lifetimes in and still have things to do.

If that's not an NPC place holder for mobs or an entryway to a dungeon... then someone should grab that and make it a part of the Guild and/or the Clan. It has the making of a good start.
That was one of my favorite parts, and probably still is, of Ultima Online was being able to see all the players houses everywhere and how they decorated them etc. Puts such a more immersive feel to the life of the game with the non-instanced housing I just love it I hope more games finally start doing this!!

now the devs only have to give the players ability to add real NPCs in their towns and there you go , you got yourself a game where players build their own cities and castes with NPCs , vendors and guards
I'll also add a little story about what PvP was like in Ultima Online Beta. The people you describe were considered "PKs", but they were easily rivaled by a now extinct concept known as "anti-PKs". The game was so "wild west" that there was actually an incentive to play as a hero or a good guy, it was closer to LARP I suppose. There was respect among enemies. But as the game evolved and attempted balance, the ability to be a "good guy" was phased out as PvP was pushed out of the cities. This meant that Good guys had no incentive to stick around the cities. This meant that players out gathering resources nearby became easy pickings for PKs, whereas before you would have good guys patrolling those areas, and often getting rewarded by the crafters for being their defenders as well as their customers. It was in an era when there was really nothing else like it, but ultimately instead of supporting an ecosystem that attracted more than just "PKs", they phased it out an inspired a multiverse of "blue servers" where no one attempted to solve the original problems, instead as pointed out they just tried to copy earlier versions of UO and failed for the same reasons.
If they prefeer not to make the terraforming, they can make "vein stone" or whatever name, it would be a way to have a cave system minable from scrach, starting on mining only vein stone on the entrance in the surface, and the deeper you go, the more ores you find. (not fluent in english, sry if its not understandable)

The scale of what can be built is what impresses me about this game. The last time scale impressed me in a game was Half Life Alyx.

The idea of a player created fortified town is awesome, imagine if you could open shops as a guild for other people to trade with you

I'll also add a little story about what PvP was like in Ultima Online Beta. The people you describe were considered "PKs", but they were easily rivaled by a now extinct concept known as "anti-PKs". The game was so "wild west" that there was actually an incentive to play as a hero or a good guy, it was closer to LARP I suppose. There was respect among enemies. But as the game evolved and attempted balance, the ability to be a "good guy" was phased out as PvP was pushed out of the cities. This meant that Good guys had no incentive to stick around the cities. This meant that players out gathering resources nearby became easy pickings for PKs, whereas before you would have good guys patrolling those areas, and often getting rewarded by the crafters for being their defenders as well as their customers. It was in an era when there was really nothing else like it, but ultimately instead of supporting an ecosystem that attracted more than just "PKs", they phased it out an inspired a multiverse of "blue servers" where no one attempted to solve the original problems, instead as pointed out they just tried to copy earlier versions of UO and failed for the same reasons.

If they prefeer not to make the terraforming, they can make "vein stone" or whatever name, it would be a way to have a cave system minable from scrach, starting on mining only vein stone on the entrance in the surface, and the deeper you go, the more ores you find.
