- From an artist deliberately mixing a coworkers ink with hot sauce to someone dying in the shop after receiving a tattoo, the industry is full of rumors and stories that may or may not be true. We asked the artists of Season 23 to tell us the most horrifying things they had heard of or experienced during their time in the industry, and their answers influenced us to write this disclaimer:

There was a little shop that opened in my town, run by two Pagans. Real scratchers. One day, there were police all over the strip-mall where their shop was. Well, it turns out, both guys were found dead, shot, execution style, shoved in a closet in the back of their shop. Suspicion was, it was a revenge hit by the Hell's Angels, but, it was never officially solved.

the reason there was so much violence in old tattoo shops is because people used them to clean money claiming they did a tattoo and get paid legally for it
There is a company that puts your pet's ashes in tattoo ink. There is a long process of sterilizing it, grinding it down even more so it is very fine, making sure it is completely mixed in, ect. It is super expensive, I'm not 100% how guaranteed it is to work, and you would need your artist to be ok with you bringing in outside ink.

I love the comment about tattooing Mommies and Attorneys ❤ I am now a mommy but I remember a time being 18 and getting tattooed, the shop owner did my first tat and he sexually assaulted me when he was finished with my botched collar bone tattoo, he pulled my shirt down and flashed me to the whole shop. It was definitely like a hazing thing because this 30something man always had highschool kids working in his shop and hanging out in his house. I was often there by association and so I also got sexually harrassed along with every other sad, autistic alt girl who ended up running with tattoo artists. The world has changed but unfortunately in that small American town, I'm sure the culture has not changed much.
Imagine being a full grown man trying to pull garbage "pranks" to look cool in front of children. If they grew out of it and grew up normal they must remember him as a creepy weirdo. Imagine that being your legacy.

Some to be/customers get pretty comfy with being assholes and act crazy.
My sister is an apprentice going strong I’m hoping they pull through, worst thing they had to deal with besides the you suck and go get us some coffee was “go to the sex shop and get hardcore mags shred them up so I can fuck with my friend!”

Putting ashes in ink is unacceptable?
I’ve never understood why people put ashes in ink. Like during the healing process all that’s gonna get pushed out so????
@@graciedye27 I've heard they just sink to the bottom of the ink and don't end up being put in your skin anyway, because they're dense and don't absorb into the ink itself. The idea is cool, but unless you're getting tattooed one of the traditional ways it's not going to work.

I really don't think she was laughing because it was funny, considering she was laughing at "I was at my lowest point". Talking about uncomfortable things can cause people to laugh.
