- We love the tattoo industry. You love the tattoo industry. We wouldn't be here if we didn't. That being said, there are a lot of really corny trends out there, the kinds of things that make us roll our eyes to the point of injury. Whether it's TikTok trends, foam reveals or meme tattoos, there's a lot out there irritating our panel of tattoo artists.

i'm so glad there are tattoo artists who allow or don't judge people for wanting or needing numbing cream. i'm disabled & want tattoos. i already experience a ton of pain on the daily, i don't need even more of it, yet i've always dreamed of getting tattoos. i know i'll need numbing cream & it's nice to see people who don't judge
Have you even tried it with no numbing? Tattoos hurt mate. Even with cream! It’s all part of the process. The feeling of achievement once you’ve pushed through the discomfort is what it’s all about.
I have both endometriosis and chronic migraines and from my experience living with that pain all the time makes getting tattooed a piece cake. It hurts, but nothing like what I usually feel. If you wanna get tattooed, you should totally go for it! Sometimes chronic pains can make us stronger than we realize :)
Being disabled or experiencing chronic pain has no connection to your ability to sit through a tattoo.
That’s understandable here’s a couple things to know ; first there’s a chance of an allergic reaction so do a patch test on yourself days before your appointment. Second make sure your artist knows what you’re doing. Third it will sometimes shock people when the numbing wears off. My client used treatonic numbing cream for a day session and that shit lasted all day. Make sure to apply evenly because if you miss spots you will get the sharp pain in those spots. Also plastic wrap the numbing cream after applying and let it set for the directed amount of time. Hope this helps

I think the corniest thing in tattooing rn is how some tattooers are trying to be business gurus. Some of them even charge people to take these “courses” on how to advertise, and it’s the most basic business advice. Seems like such a scam

TikTok needs to separate from the interwebs, not just tattooing.

I have a lot of tattoos, and I don't think they hurt that much at all. I guess I have a mostly high pain tolerance. The only part that hurt on my last two tattoos was when they got to my wrists and the inner side of my elbow. That's when I felt like my spirit leave my body. But mostly, I can sit through a long tattoo a session.. 😊
The first person who came to mind when Megan spoke was that one tiktok tattooer Cody Austin Montgomery. He's one of the biggest cornballs I've ever seen.

I strongly disagree. People with tattoos judge the content and quality. People without tattoos are more likely to judge the person, assume they’re a criminal, lazy, unintelligent, mentally ill, hypersexual with daddy issues (if they’re a woman) and consequently feel justified in treating them differently. Just look at the comments on any tattoo related article on conservative publications and you’ll see absolutely vile stuff.

I mean it can sometimes suck when social media makes you do things you don’t want to stay relevant and even if content creator experience that daily and it’s their job I can imagine why a old school tattoo artist might be annoyed by that. I do agree that this series does have that vibe sometimes but there are still some fair points being made sometimes.
Also the normalization of straight up dangerous stuff that has been going on IS really fucking weird…

No way would I let someone tattoo me if they insist on numbing cream or anesthesia, and I wouldn’t ask for them.
Yeah, tattoos can be somewhat painful but not to that degree. Probably shouldn’t be getting inked if you need either imho
“If you need numbing cream you shouldn’t be getting tattooed” is objectively a dumb fucking opinion considering no two people experience getting tattooed the same and some people want the art without having to suffer through it. Hope this helps!

Numbing cream or anesthesia are for the weak. If you can't handle the pain, you don't deserve the tattoo.
There are parts on the body which are way more sensitive than others, I got many tattoos, but my wrists were very painful, I wish they would of used numbing cream for that

Absolutely true. No matter what people say or the ones who call it "gatekeeping" lol , numbing cream effects your skin and the way it absorbs the ink. I've never had it even for my 12 hour rib session. You have to push through it sometimes. Not everything can be painless or easy, that's the point.
@losthighway174 16 hour rib piece, 4 hour rib, 12 hour abdomen, 6 hour pelvic. Tattoos take a lot out of a person. Anyone who doesn't want to use something to allow you to push through further is a tool. 🙄

They might be saving space to get some really nice pieces, or they just don't want more at this stage in their lifes. Don't be so quick to judge.
I'd rather a tattooist with no tattoos that is talented and good at the craft. Than anyone who sucks at it and is winging it or couldn't pull a line to save there life.

Disagree on that one but I know that’s a popular opinion. I actually find it refreshing a relatable when an artist is moderately covered. I don’t care how many tattoos the artist has to be honest. I just care about their body of work.
