i like that Adam was invited as a companion and then immediately demonstrates why there aren't more people hanging out with the Doctor.
Exactly
As soon as Adam fainted I knew he wouldn’t last. His mum activating his brain opening is hysterical.
Yep, hysterical is the word. We didn't need to see Adam's device activate. His mom's look was all we needed to see.
On the Adam thing: it’s kind of unc
There was a "bad wolf" in this episode. Rewatch the segment where you learn that the Face of Boe is pregnant.
Yeah - at the top of the monitor.
@@mikefoster6018 She saw that and commented on it.
I forgot about that! And The Face Of Boe will be explained later, I think the next season or so.
I still wanna see how the Face of Boe gave birth and was he the face of boe or was he still ehm Boe, no spoilers :)
@@stephjovi I don't know the particulars....... But they even mentioned they were pregnant once, "not doing that again"........ so in the Whoniverse...... it's left up to fan guesses! Enjoy
The hard part of watching the Doctor is that it's easy to have several favorite Doctors, but nearly impossible to choose just one.
Fun fact, Simon Pegg was actually originally cast as Rose's father but could not make that filming block due to scheduling conflicts. He was given this role as a sort of consolation.
Also, going by how much you liked this episode and the previous one, you are going to LOVE the season finale for series one.
Oh he would’ve killed either role! I’m glad it went the way it did though
@@funnylilgalreacts One thing you'll notice about Russell T Davies time as showrunner of Doctor Who is intelligent use of celebrity ,guest roles, gives us some great one off villains.
Pegg's career was already well established in the UK, but he still wasn't as known internationally. He had done Shaun of the Dead and appeared as an extra on Band of Brothers
@@funnylilgalreacts As seems typical with UK shows, you may even see faces more than once, in different roles. I mean, not to the "Law & Order" shows levels, but it's not uncommon.💙
@@timmooney7528 Shaun of The Dead was the first zombie movie I really liked. And Zombieland.💙
Whoever edited this video is doing a great job, when you click your fingers and it appeared on your forehead was genius 😂
RTD said he wated to include a companion who really wasn't cut out for it, so we got Adam. Making mistakes is one thing (and something that a lot of companions make at some point), but making them out of greed and trying to avoid responsibility for it was a one-way ticket off the TARDIS.
The thing is, it wasn't a "one-way ticket off" until this point. This is the very first time in Doctor Who history that a companion got kicked out of the TARDIS for not knowing how to behave. I for one appreciate RTD doing this, precisely for the reasons you said: making mistakes is ok. Moral weakness is not
I'm loving the love for Ecclestons Doctor here.
He is too often dismissed or even occasionally criticised. I think he was a FANTASTIC, FANTASTIC restart of new Who and I love his episodes, backstory and PERFORMANCE.
as a life-long fan of the show, it's such a genuine joy to see you discovering things in real time without any idea what's coming. i look forward to these reactions every wednesday :)
You were right about the connection between Michael Sheen and David Tennant. They do a show together called Good Omens, which I absolutely know you'll love! Their chemistry in the words of the Docter is absolutely "brilliant!"
Good Omens is so fucking good XD
@lanmandragoran8337 Seriously is though!
So good! I hope she watches it!
And on the back of that they did a show that started during C19 lockdown called Staged, where they play exaggerated versions of themselves trying to organise a stage play via Zoom. Featuring plenty of celebrity cameos. Worth a watch.
Oh yeah, and the other Good Omens link in this episode is Anna Maxwell Martin (Sooky), who played Beelezebub in the first series.
If you were as big of a nerd as Simon Peg is, and someone offered you a part in Doctor Who… he wold have played an extra with no lines just so he could be there. Plus, it's a badge of honor to have that on your IMDb page to show off.
I love that man.
I love Michael Sheen too. Maybe not as much as his work husband David Tennant does, but I still love him (seriously, I’ve spent hours watching those two bicker like an old married couple, and I’ve loved every second of it).
But going back to the episode… it’s always a sore spot when humans disappoint the Doctor, and not because of the obvious “you disappointed my favorite character in the show” bit, but because the Doctor is just a mirror, and what’s being reflected and amplified is always what was already there to begin with.
Since its inception, this show has been an educational show, and I do believe not many people give this show the recognition it deserves for the social commentary it portrays in almost all of its episodes.
Don't worry about the whole calling him Doctor Who thing too much... He was literally credited as "Doctor Who" for most of the show's history.
But for some of those years there was also a narrator introducing "the Doctor" in each new adventure.
Its actually Doctor Whom?
@@willparks3429 Don't mention the infamous "baseball" episode... Where it became Doctor Who's on First.
Many of the actors themselves have referred to the character as 'Doctor Who.' It's only since the new series came out that this became so pedantic.
@@RubesGoodBrainCoffee On set or in public?
26:00 Simon Pegg had a hell of a time trying to pronounce 'Mighty Jagrafess of the Holy Hadrojassic Maxarodenfoe,' which is why the critter roars near the end of his spiel.
He did the best he could. Bless.
Yeah, Pegg says "Maxa-rad-enfoe" instead of "Maxa-rod-enfoe." Always made me slightly confused about the correct way to write the name, but it's fun that they had The Jagrafess call Pegg's character out in it in the episode!
Was the writer trolling Simon Pegg by forcing him to say something that's nearly impossible to pronounce?
@@adamdavis1648 Season One had a lot of that. I mean, Raxacoricofallapatorius...
I know a lot of people say that "maxc was the one who made suki grab the editors leg and that may very well be but i really like the thought that that was the last of her consciousness in her dead body, like a muscle memory going "oh no. If I'm dead, you're going with me"
I'm always amused the way different minds work. It never occurred to me that the gold walls might have something to do with being a conductor. Based on the way they talked about floor 500 I took it as a signifer of wealth and luxury.
It's more a twist on that hope or aspiration for people wanting to move to a better country where they hear streets are 'paved with gold' but then it turns out they were sold a lie.
Remember, the Doctor is 900 years old, that's another reason to avoid attachments. He does get lonely and need companions, but the more people he becomes attached to, the more people he eventually has to lose, simply because few beings live as long as he does.
Also, the more companions he has, the harder it is to protect them. Rose is very self-reliant and has good instincts. Adam needed shepherding and walked right into danger when allowed on his own.
Xander was having far too much fun with this reaction and I'm here for it!
Sorry, I'm new. Who's Xander? I mean I've only heard of Xander from Buffy. It's even triggered my spellcheck, lol.
I think that is her video editor
@@zoesnow8966 With the amount of videos she churns out in a week, it makes sense that she doesn't have to edit these too, lol.
The woman who saved the world in this episode was played by Christine Adams. She was also in a few episodes of Agents of SHIELD, and on the show Black Lightning, she played the hero’s ex-wife, and the mother of his two daughters.
Eccleston might not be many people's favourite doctor. But he sure is one of the best.
He comes in at a close second for me. I prefer Tennant, but he also got more time to relax into the role. Eccleston is really incredible though.
I'm Tom Baker, Eccleston, Matt Smith than Tennant.
Yep, T Baker, Tennant, Eccleston are my top three. Tom was the main Doctor of my childhood (although I did see a little Troughton and all of Pertwee)
Eccleston made me really like the show. Tennant made me LOVE it! I mean, to a level where I'd never loved a show before. So Ten is my Doctor, but there hasn't been one Doctor I don't have deep affection for. One took a while to grow on me, but grow he did! 💙
@@DravenGal I grew up as kid on the old who so Tom Baker is always my doctor but I also loved Tennant and most of the new doctors, it is a shame though the most recent years of the show.
Going in blind not knowing that Daleks are basically an extreme analog of Nazi's due to when this show aired and stuff. Makes for a very interesting perspective.
Michael Sheen might not have been in this episode but the actress who played Beelzebub in season 1 of Good Omens was Suki.
really? :0 cool, I love both shows and didn't know that
I think it's endearing to call him Doctor Who. He was credited as Dr. Who by the show itself for years, and even one of the actors that played the Doctor recently (which grew up as a HUGE fan of the show) calls him that.
Even in Eccleston's first series, I believe he is credited as _Doctor Who._
You can call the doctor doctor who for the first season. After that you need to get it right. Lol!
@@txsportsfreak02 I look on it as kind of a mistake that they credited him like that. I always explain to people, "The show is Doctor Who, but he's just the Doctor."
@@HuntingViolets Same.
"even one of the actors that played the Doctor recently (which grew up as a HUGE fan of the show) calls him that."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you talking about Capaldi? Because I love how they kinda make fun of "he's called Doctor Who" in World Enough and Time lol. I've been a fan for almost half my life (wow I can't believe it's already been that long) and even I call him Doctor Who every now and then!
The Doctor's name is canonically The Doctor. It can also be Doctor Who. Both have been used (and accepted) in official capacity.
Simon Pegg was also the narrator for Doctor Who Confidential, the behind the scenes series for the show, for the first series.
Simon Pegg was suppose to play a different character, which would have been more important in the show’s mythos but his schedule ended up changing and he did this part instead. Simon grew up a huge Doctor Who fan. He also narrated the behind the scenes show they aired in 2005, Doctor Who Confidential.
Michael Sheen and David Tennant are such great friends and they make a great joke about their careers in their webshow Staged
they must have had to pay him so much to put his face on this show
I just looked up the character he was originally planned to play, and that would have been a fascinating difference to what we got. I think I'm ultimately happy that we got the actor we did to play that character, but I still think it would have been fun to have Simon Pegg in a larger role than he got too.
@@theapocalex Simon Pegg? A fanboy like him? No, he'd have done it just for the chance to be in Doctor Who. Very big deal back then, at least for fans of British sci-fi...
@@petersvillage7447 Not quite yet... Most people were still jumping on the show at this point following word of mouth recommendations, and Pegg was still considered a small comedy actor. At the time of filming, he was just coming off Shaun of the Dead and no one knew how good Dr Who was yet to become.
@@MINKIN2no Pegg was a fan of Doctor Who for a long time. He grew up watching the classic series, and jumped at the chance to be part of the new series.
If you want something with Simon Pegg, Martin Freeman, Bill Nighy, and Olivia Coleman (plus a little Cate Blanchett) i would recommend hot fuzz
Hot Fuzz is one of the best comedy movies ever.
What I particularly like about this episode is that it demonstrates both that the Doctor is very good at choosing his companions *and* why he needs to be. It takes a certain type of person to thrive in that environment.
I'm so happy you've been picking up on Bad Wolf, and incredibly eager for what is to come from that.
There actually IS a Bad Wolf reference in this episode.
The tv announcement of the Face of Boe's pregnancy is brought to you by Bad Wolf TV. It's in the upper left corner of the image.
15:16 Mutt and Jeff is an old comic strip. Like, ran from 1907 to 1983 old. A quick wiki search says it's considered the first daily comic strip (or maybe the first successful one). Mutt and Jeff were the two main characters: Mutt (the tall skinny one) was always looking for get-rich-quick schemes. Jeff (the short, bald one) was basically his sidekick. They weren't especially deep characters compared to comics that came later, but they got syndicated everywhere, so they're in the pop culture subconscious all over and are liable to get name checked in the weirdest places - such as here. 🙂
I think in this case it's just slang for being deaf.
@@melvyncollins7305 @Pooglian That's great information (from both of you). I'm curious whether they took the name from the comic for the rhyming slang or the rhyming slang came about because of the comic. It's also used a lot to refer to couples when one is short and one is tall.
@@melvyncollins7305 Then you'd be wrong. He was calling them that to refer to them as silly, non-thinking twits, not deaf, in a funny way, not a derogatory one. They heard him just fine, as they responded to him immediately ... the first time he called them.
@@StevesFunhouse "Mutt and Geoff" absolutely *is* Cockney rhyming slang for "deaf". He was being sarcastic about their inattentiveness.
@@davidgould9431 Never said it wasn't, but I DID say that's NOT what he meant. Sorry to burst your bubble but, two people, oblivious to what's going on around them ... i.e. Mutt and Jeff.
Hey! You should know, the episode “the empty child” has a part 2 and you should try and watch them back to back, otherwise it feels like you’re left off in the middle of an episode. Loving the series!!! It’s one of my favorites!
Agreed. ‘The empty child’ and ‘The Doctor dances’ is a 2 part story.
Although, enjoyment might be enhanced by having to wait for the resolution.
Absolutely no need to watch them back to back ...We all had to wait a week between them when they were broadcast...Cliffhangers are there to make you come back!!!
Great opening! I watch a lot of Doctor Who reactions, but this is definitely one of the most interesting and insightful takes on "Dalek". Looking forward to the review after.
Great reaction, really enjoying these!!
Mutt and Jeff was a newspaper comic strip about a dog and his owner... The lanky Mutt and his short owner Jeff. It ended in the 80's I think.
Mutt and Jeff has became a way of describing a pair of mismatched people.
I love you did the head thing. That was well done on you 😂
“It’s like a horror movie”
I can’t wait.
Hey: call the doctor whatever. YES he’s the doctor, but a lot of fans call/called him doctor who in the past
It's not a hard and fast rule, but I've found that original run fans tend towards "Doctor Who" while those who got into it after the relaunch go for "The Doctor".
@@andrewjuby6339 Fifth Doctor Peter Davison was the first one who had grown up watching the show and AFAIK he requested to change the credit from "Doctor Who" to "The Doctor", as did David Tennant.
I'd completely forgotten Adam had been a companion. Perhaps our minds had been erased.
The Daleks were in the sixth episode of the first 1963 season of Doctor Who and have always been the Doctors and the Time Lords main villains.
It isn't just the Doctor's history with the Daleks from Classic Who, there's all the stuff he mentioned from the Time War, which happened off screen.
im sure theres some fans whe get weird about calling him Doctor Who, but i know a lot of Whovians who either say that themselves sometimes or dont blink an eye when someone calls him Doctor Who, most of us are happy to see anyone else become a fan of such a Fantastic show
Also is it too late to point out that 'Whovian' is technically an American fan designation. The original name for UK Who fans is (according to Loaded Magazine) 'Anorak Clad Wanker' (from an A.C.W. since 1975) 😊😊😊
@@eddhardy1054 OMG That's funny !!!! It seems, I am an ACW too.... since 1972. Oh it feels like a weight off me to say that out loud. LMFAO. Plus I thought it was 'Whoer' in the UK....actually that might explain why I get smacked in the face often. I was a whoer and now I'm a wanker. 😁
@@UnhandyCandy280 A pleasure to hear from you Sir/Madam (delete as applicable). I'm pretty certain that 'Whoer' is equally valid. What can I say, we are what we are... 😉
@@eddhardy1054 In this day and age why can't we be both !! I certainly am.... probably shouldn't have confessed that. 😞
@@UnhandyCandy280 Exactly, the more the merrier.
Suki was dead, the jagrafess grabbed the editor's leg by controlling Suki
Probably. Although Suki/Eva would not be the first character to intervene despite being dead (see Gwyneth in "The Unquiet Dead").
Mutt and Jeff is rhyming slang for deaf.
Also, Mutt and Jeff is a long-running and widely popular American newspaper comic strip created by cartoonist Bud Fisher in 1907 about "two mismatched tinhorns". It is commonly regarded as the first daily comic strip.
Brits have a long and convoluted naming convention for slang. Easier to say Oreo than the Brit name of "Biscuits flipped with creme and chocolate".
Actually, it IS the reference to the comic strip, especially when, in this episode, he's calling the both of them ...
Yes, I remember the Mutt & Jeff cartoon in the Sunday Paper when I was a kid. A lot of cartoons you don’t hear about any more Andy Capp, Dondi, Apt. 3G were some of the others in the paper.
Can I just say I love how long your intros and outros are for this show, and just how much time to you take to dissect it. Because it's such a long show, but the journey throughout is so so important and idk I'm glad how you appreciate it rather than just binging it without regard. I mean, I love this season and it's one of my favorites, but also my other favorite is like 8 seasons later which is so far down the line! But the show's also so good building up to that and it covers so many different things that I can't even feel impatient, I'm just happy to see you experience this all for the first time

Okay, shoutout to editor Xander What. Like bro, I could just hug you. Teach me, oh wise one!
Love your analysis of Dalek at the start - and Christopher Ecclestone definitely brought his 'A' game for that episode!
Being able to say 'Max's' full name became quite a party trick amongst my nearest and dearest back in the day!
It also drove me nuts trying to recognize Simon Pegg at first. If you haven't already, check out "Paul" with Simon and Nick Frost, and voice of Seth Rogan. Whatever you do, do not get rid of your Tetris blocks. LOL
Mutt and Jeff was a newspaper comic strip. They were like Laurel and Hardy.
Props to the editor for following up on your snap
Your comment about Cardiff reminded me of something you said in a previous episode.
Rose isn't from Cardiff. She's a Londoner. Yes, the show is filmed in Wales, but Rose et al are very much Londoners. First episode featured The London Eye, and then an alien ship crashed into Big Ben and 10 Downing Street was blown up. All near Rose's estate, and all, famously, not in Wales.
Cardiff will pop up now and then, but when it does, they'll say so. Meanwhile, London buses, London taxis, famous London landmarks... probably London.
It looks pretty cold in Simon Pegg's room in this episode. Cold Fuzz.
Funny how we knew she was trying to come up with Michael Sheen…from Good Omens also staring David Tennant
Another good warm up episode, the series is just about finding it's feet. Stay tuned Angela.
Watch order of episodes for the end of the Series: 1x13, 2005 Children In Need Special, 2005 Christmas Special, 2x1
yeah i hope she pays attention to the order of the special throughout the show
Here in Atlanta they've been installing these information obelisks. Which is a double sided 70 inch touch screen flat screen. I actually used one today and it's also a police box. Not like the TARDIS. But It has a complete fire and police call button and siren.
The CGI getting better ober time is one of the reasons why I always tell people to start with the 2005 season. Jumping in at matt smith or even later and going back is painful. This way it just gets better over time.
When I found out that Doctor Who was back, they had already started airing season 7. I just randomly decided to start watching with "The Eleventh Hour" and continued until the last episode of season 6, then started back with season 1, "Rose", to catch up where I started. By that time, one of the characters (blond, curly hair) had become one of my favorites, so it was a bit of a surprise to find out what happens to her in the library when I finally got caught up with those episodes.
@@busimagen Oh, wow, that's a really interesting Time-Line to follow. You basically saw things from her perspective, then, not the Doctors. That characters introduction is one of my favorites, can't imagine how I'd have viewed all her scenes without the context of that first intro.
Knowing where this show goes and having watched your reactions before I am stoked to watch where this is going! Enjoy!
Don't worry about calling the Doctor "Doctor Who" that was how he was listed in the credits of the episodes back in the 60s and he even refers to himself as "Doctor Who" at least once I think.
Absolutely heartwarming that the Doctor declares he only takes the best - he’s got *Rose.*
It was funny last episode watching you say you liked Adam, knowing what trouble he immediately causes for largely selfish reasons. Isn't hindsight a crazy thing?
Especially when you said you liked him more than Mickey! I mean come on, our boy saved the Earth! Idiot or not, he's a hero!
Mickey desperately clinging to Rose's leg is so gross. Adam being selfish was just as ick.
@@funnylilgalreacts Yeah, fair enough. I can't say I blame Mickey for being terrified/freaked out after seeing the inside of the Tardis, but it's still not a great look clinging on to Rose like he does. Bit wimpy.
But you've already seen him develop past that, at least being brave enough to save Jackie from the Slitheen and save the world by launching a missile at 10 Downing Street.
To be clear though, I was *not* trying to judge you for saying what you did, so I'm sorry if that's how I made it seem. I just found it amusing that you liked Adam initially because his character is... not well liked. It was all worth it to hear you call him a knob though!
The Dr. was billed as Dr. Who in at least the first 3 years of it's broadcast.
Also in this series. David Tennant has it changed.
You are about to get into a _really_ strong stretch of episodes for the 9th Doctor. Can't wait to see your reaction to the next one.
6:00 but one sentece/question of rose brought him back to ground.... " what are You becoming ?" that is why he needs companions, normal people that bring him back to the ground, whenever, he is about to go too far...
To be fair to Adam, the doctor did tell him to basically get lost and immerse himself. And he did. Unfortunately he was not a good person to be immersed. And it wouldn't be so bad i dont think (and i feel the Doctor would agree) if he just took responsibility.
I'm still very fond of this episode. It was the first episode of Doctor Who I ever saw when it aired on my country's public television, and I got hooked on the show from there
This episode REALLY pissed me off on how he treated the new guy. The kid asks for help, asks to be shown around, and the doc basically tells him to F off... 'go do your own thing'. Both him and Rose offer zero help, zero advice, NOTHING like what the doc did with rose. It's like abandoning a child on their own in a mall.
THEN, when he does explore on his own, does things on his own, the doc gets upset!! Well whose fault is that doc?? YOU abandoned him to his own devices and then get upset when he does things on his own! Then you angrily dump him at home, mock him, insult him, and then imply he can't live his life at all, he has to hide for the rest of his life.
Just staggeringly HORRIBLE treatment from the doc to this guy every step of the way, and it REALLY made me mad at the show and the writers. Like WTAF?!!
And as a reminder, this guy was willing to betray his boss and his ultra cushy position to help the doc and rose survive and escape. He sacrificed everything he had to do the right thing and this is how he's treated, how he's repaid????? Un Fing believable.
It’s not often done concept, the companion who doesn’t deserve to be one. Some people r too selfish to be given access to all time and space.
The Doctor was credited as Doctor Who in some early Classic Who seasons, so don't worry about occasionally calling him Doctor Who; the pedants can cry, but even the show itself did it once upon a time 😂
23:54 The editing on that! Fantastic! 😁
We get 1 step closer to my favourite episode

Episode 7 of Doctor Who aired on 4 January 1964, and was called "The Escape". It was part of the very first appearance of the Daleks.
(Spoiler for Classic Who)
At the end of that story, The First Doctor (Played by William Hartnell) is being asked by the Daleks to restore their power to save them, and he calmly says "Even if I wanted to, I don't know how."
Yeah, The Daleks and the Doctor have a lot of bad blood between them, from the very start.

Honestly looks really good haha
i love how unexpected it is
Matt Smith is my favorite Doctor and has some of my favorite storylines. I can’t wait for you to watch it all!
As I'm sure a few others have mentioned, throughout the history of the show he has absolutely been referred to as _"Doctor Who."_ And while I could be mistaken, I recall the Brigadier actually addressing him as _"Who"_ at least once.
It's a long and sorted history. But referring to the Doctor as *_"Doctor Who"_* has been done by everyone from fans to _those making the show itself._
Be well! 🙋🏼♂️
Seeing the Roci on the top left corner always brings a smile to my face :)
adam exists as a cautionary tale, and to show why some people just don't end up travelling with the doctor at all. He decided to take advantage of the doctor to benefit himself and his family regardless of any consequences. It may also be why he distances himself from people, so he doesn't have to face the disappointment of those who don't reach his standards.
Been a fan since 70's PBS rebroadcast...your interpretation of the Doctor is just fine. On to Ep 7!!!
The plunger and the whisk are a product of the low budget the show used to have in its earliest days. I love how iconic they've become to Dr. Who.
I always get Simon Pegg and Michael Sheen crossed as well. Both amazing actors. 🤛😎👍
Just glad you're on a journey I know you'll enjoy. Totally agree with you on Eccleston. He's the reason I got hooked with this show in the first place. Had he not been so awesome, I may have tapped out and never revisited the series.
23:52 Hahahaha I didn't expect that, nice one.
Glad I wasn't drinking anything as I would have performed a "spit take"! Y'know, it's wild we've reached a point that allows an individual to "casually" present a visual like this as a "wink and a nod", when years ago, it would have required substantial resources of an entire effects team. 🤓

When I first saw this episode my first thought was the adjective was off by a couple of letters, ie the walls were made with cold, rather than gold. Also, Mutt and Jeff was a long running cartoon in the US (1907-1983).
just a fun fact, this is no spoiler for the actual show but in the comics adam goes on a revenge arc, discovers time travel and actually becomes a real threat as an antagonist to the doctor
Hi love your watch alongs. The best non spoiler explanation I can give you about the doctor being picky about companions is that the doctor is functionally immortal. Every companion he travels with means eventually he will lose that person even if they stayed all their lives they would die of old age and he would go on. For the doctor every companions means both love and loss. He accepts it but he has to limit it to stay sane
Ecclestone is my Favorite Doctor by far, glad you're enjoying his performance. I love this series, it's almost like i get to watch it for the first time again. I can't wait to see how you react to the next three episodes after this one which are my favorites along with Dalek.

"Does space station. Kinda looks like Deep Space Nine." I love you Angela 💕 don't ever change!"
There's a Doctor Who comic where Adam comes back with all the doctors up to Matt Smith called prisoners of time.
Highly recommend
Mutt and Jeff was a comic strip started in the early 1900s. The eponymous characters were like a Laurel and Hardy. Colloquially, it's kind of like calling two people Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum.
Honestly the show listed him in the credits as "Doctor Who" for many years. People really shouldn't be giving you a hard time over something like that!
1) Re: "The Doctor" vs "Doctor Who": If you watch interviews or discussions online - and I understand if you don't, because spoilers - fans, including British fans, often refer to the character as "Doctor Who." Cast members do it. Even actors who've played The Doctor do it. It's wrong. They know it. That's why it's okay, because they do it partly ironically and partly from a kind of defiant laziness like they just don't care. Bottom line: If you are going to keep accidentally calling him "Doctor Who," you just need to play it off as if it was on purpose. Then it's okay.
2) Re: The Doctor's backstory with the Daleks: You don't need it. Russell Davies' deliberate intent was that you don't need to know anything from the classic years.
3) Re: favorites: I've said it before, elsewhere if not here. Everyone has their favorite Doctor, and that's as it should be. But there are no bad ones. Not even Jody, and, no, not even Colin. (That said, some have been very hard done by their writers.) So, whoever you or anyone else likes best, all choices are equally valid.
Your editor is just having a FIELD DAY, isn't he? :D
As for the history of the Daleks you are correct in that most of it is in the original series but the history that matters is in the distant future of the show. Finally you caught the 'Bad Wolf' easter egg, a friend of mine caught it in the last episode & tipped me off so well done. I LOVED the editor dropped in your 'Spiked Head' clip, brilliantly done sir.
Great Reaction, love your energy. Your laugh when Adam fainted, OMG beautiful. Wish I had a Tardis so I could jump to your next reaction now.
Mutt and Jeff means two mismatched people. The deaf thing is Cockney rhyming slang, but is not appropriate in this case.
That effect freaked me out i had to rewind 😂 amazing job!!!
Mutt and Jeff was the name of a cartoon about 60 years ago. They were stray dogs.
the med tech is Tamsin Greig, of Black Books, the phenomenal Green Wing and the excellent Friday Night Dinner!
Unrelated to Doctor Who, but VERY related to your Farscape watch, today is Virginia Hey, Zhaan's, birthday.
