As much as I'd love to have one of these, I don't think I'd want a semi-auto version enough to spend what they'd ask for it. The entire appeal of the gun is how amazingly manageable the recoil is under full auto/small burst fire. The ability to put so much heat on a target in such a quick amount of time.

I remember when they introduced it to the Bundeswehr, we all thought this just a toy-weapon. Then we tried on our own body armour - it went through like a hot knife through butter. We all wanted it, but there is a dammed issue-system called SollOrgMat (who gets what), we never saw it again. Today it is given to military police, tankers and commandos.

They're a stuck up company that thinks their product is to good for civilians and that's why they've filed for bankruptcy recently. Can't survive on military contracts forever. And the stuff they do release to the civilian market is overpriced there's no place to get parts and warranty service sucks.

Ok, I'm a huge fan of H&K. I own a genuine HK91 with A1 and telescoping A3 stocks. I had a new preban HK94 A3 years ago untill someone offered me more 100 dollar bills than I could refuse. The MP5 A3 is still the sexiest sub in action movies, but... I have to give nod to the FN PS90 (P90) rather than this MP7. 50 rounds, a little more bullet, bottom eject, tool less takedown and it was here first. Actually I think H&K should have built this around the FN 5.7 round. After all, it wouldn't be the first time a successful NATO round was developed by FN. I do admit, the telescoping butt-stock seems excellent-- very much like the successful MP5 A3 design.

Truthfully, save for a detailed explanation of its inner workings and detail strip, there will NEVER be another video of an MP-7 worthy of watching as of 2014. All these videos of the MP-7 we see anymore are basically sales ads for weapons we're NEVER going to see the opportunity to buy, rendering them moot. I'm glad James had fun, but these videos of HK marketing their unicorn gun to people they'll never sell to don't really have any value to us. Instead what they ought to do is give us detailed knowledge of its workings if they want to ever show it off any more than they previously have,

  • @leeb9988

HK MP7 vs FN P90 should be the next video. In all seriously I see the MP7 has a huge following as the latest and greatest, but what does it really hold over the P90 which has been out for a couple decades now. They both seem to market toward the same roll, PDW with AP capability.

i can't belive this guy working for H&K can't say Koch correctly (no it's not coke)
and another thing: MP is short for Maschinenpistole (that translatets to smg) which are weapons that fire a small caliber (intended for pistols), able to fire in full-auto and two-handed use like a rifle (or something similar)
if it's designed to be hold like a pistol (like a Glock or 1911) and is able of full-auto it's called a Reihenfeuerpistole in german
so yeah you could use it that way but the name doesn't imply that it's meant for that
i can' belive H&K let someone say shit like this

    • @irrlicht321

I love German technical language. Never heard the term Reihenfeuerpistole before, but it makes total sense. His definition of "machine pistol" sounded like marketing-speak. I wonder if a German rep would talk about a Taktisches Reihenfeuersystem or something equally ludicrous.

This and the MP5/10 are literally the ONLY HK product I've ever had an ounce of interest in. Much like the FN P90 (and the FN5.7 round in general) though I see little to less then zero purpose for it in semi-auto only config where as the 10mm actually makes a semi-auto PCC relevant and gives it desirable capability.
