Sidenote: William Dawes's great grandson, Rufus Dawes, was an officer in the 6th Wisconsin (part of the Iron Brigade) in the Civil War. He wrote Service with the 6th Wisconsin which is one of the best memoirs I've read.

Revere's objective was to warn Hancock and Sam Adams that the Redcoats were coming out to arrest them while they were staying at a Reverends house in Lexington. They were warning towns along the way that troops were coming out.

Good video!!! So, the Battles of Lexington & Concord took place because the British took a "short-cut" by going by sea. NEVER thought of those battles happening because of a short-cut.

@@danielf9691 Sybil Ludington supposedly road later on in Connecticut. But I feel like I read or heard that either the wife or daughter of one of the tavern owners along the battle road went out to alert other minutemen after her father/husband left to join the battle in Lexington and Concord. I can’t seem to find the source for that though so take it for what you will. *Edit* I may be thinking of Mary Hartwell and the Hartwell’s slave, Violet.
