Okay I have to say my dressmaker heart just sunk when you said "It's never gonna be exactly as long". Oh yes. Yes it will :D
Aaaah, this is the video I needed!
I purchased the software on a sale, but never got around to finding a good tutorial, looking forward to watching this when I have time!
You can definitely import a reference image into the background. You just right click and select "add background image"
I never thought that this tool will survive on the market. Now on version 9! My congratulations to the developer and company of that great tool! Very well developed software and super useful for people who have any relation to clothes or fashion!
Finally an in depth Marvelous tutorial! Thank you guys.
I think this is definitely the best video about Marmoset I ever watched. Thank you so much!
This is awsome guys. I am a brazilian fashion design student, and I will be using marvelous to do my final work for college, and I really loved this lessons, you are great! Thank you so much!
Thanks a lot guys! I use Marvelous Designer from time to time and all these tips are invaluable for me. The format is perfect as well, not too long - when I eventually forget stuff, it'll be easy and painless to just re-watch your concise and to-the-point videos. Keep them coming! :D cheers

Hi guys. Fantastic intro tutorial for this great app.
Just a note on bringing in pattern references... I find using Pureref is a great option instead of making image planes out of cloth.
Just drag you pattern/ref image into pureRef. Make sure PureRef is always on top by hitting Ctrl+Shift+A, Then make pureref semi-transparent by hitting Ctrl+(+/-) and finally make sure you are able to paint through pureref by hitting Ctrl+T
Hope this helps :)
That's awesome!
Why didn't I think of that :D
Thanks
good catch! ty

This was a great into video, the secondary commentary definitely helped clarify some things that might not have been so clear to the viewers.
Clear and plainly explained. Very useful for someone who never opened Marvelous before

How do you change the posture/ change hand position or access the joints of the mannequin ?
there's some great tutorials by Madina Chionidi on Marvelous Designer on your Flipped Normals.
These helped me alot to understand the basics when I was starting to fiddle with the software.
Great content as always, guys ! I love your channel

OH you are awesome! I just needed the basics. I wish you would do a basic video for Daz Studio. I've just been stumbling through everything. At least I won't have to do that with Marvelous Designer. LOL
Very awesome tutorial. Helped a lot. Thanks

the best Introduction to Marvelous Designer
Thanks a lot. Great tutorial.
great turtorial sir
Nice program, and nice tutorial.....
This is literally a deep need.. QvQ!!!!
tbh- MD seems like something that's ALLOOOOT MORE FUN- TO USE- than to Explain.
I always wanted to use it- Because I have a DEEP Love for sewing, and Clothes in general, but the trial Time?
And- the lack of realistic pricing for hobbyists, I seriously wonder How I COULD even get close to it.
Keep an eye on the sales, especially ones like cyber Monday. That's when I got my perpetual license. Still isn't cheap as one would hope, but I want to say I paid $300 instead of $490 last fall.

This is fantastic, I was hoping to learn the basics of MD. As a total amateur at MD, if anyone out here could point me in the right direction on how to have a plastic trash bag fall into a trash bin, I'd be extremely grateful!
It's nice that you offer a free intro video to this software, for sure. The *problem* is the cost of Marvelous Designer itself.
it's 30USD a month... not that bad
@@havocblast8737 you can get it for free..

Thank you for this!!!
what a marvelous tutorial!
;)
This is a good video. I think I'll go ahead and get MD now. I've been modeling clothes and I hear MD is much faster.
you guys are great!
great tutorial as always guys! your introductory are always so helpful and fun but i do have a question...is there a reason as to why one shouldn't use "unfold" instead of "symmetry" when creating shirts? or are they both valid options
A quick note on M to N sewing, the main use for M:N sewing is to sew multiple edges to other multiple edges. When you're sewing one edge to multiple edges (like that shoulder) you can just use the regular free sewing tool and hold shift when sewing the arm holes to get the same result. I know you probably didn't go into it for simplicity of a beginner tutorial but it bothered me haha.
I tried all kinds of ways of doing this and couldn't get it to work. Do I have to click at any point? When do I let go of the button? What order do I draw the edges - the single edge first, or the multiple edges first?
EDIT: Ok I figured it out. At NO point do you use Shift!! You also have to use the M:N Free Sewing tool, NOT the regular one. So what you do is you draw along the full length of the single segment you intend to sew by single-clicking the first point, letting go of the mouse button, then moving along to the last point and single-click there. Then you press ENTER once. Next, you repeat the same thing for the first of your multi-part segments: click the first point, trace along until the end, click again. Then click the first part of the next segment... rinse and repeat until you've traced everything. Finally, hit ENTER again. It should have worked. Hope this helps someone!
GREAT VIDEO!
Amazing Tutorial
Excelent !!! Thanks for the help
awesome thank you for that lesson
38:28 when i try to do it on the side of the vest it selects the entire thing instead of the part where the sleeve would go?
holy granola bars, was i waiting for u guys to make a video on MD
Excellent 👌
Thnx u for this tutorial I always wanted to make clothes for Sims 4
M to N sewing: Begin M selection by clicking on first selection, then HOLD and click more selections to add to the M selection. Press to finalize M selection and begin N selection. Click your first N selection, HOLD to add selections to N selection. Press to finalize N selection.
Love your videos! could we get one where we take a simple piece of clothes thru the workflow from start to finish, ending up in the game engine.
Great ! 👌🏻❤️
great work
amazing guys
Hi. Awesome tutorial and thank you for sharing. I have marvelous 8, why if i push space bar the simulate button don't execute? The simuate button go to execute only if i click it
thank you
learnt alot quickly
this is nice, curves control like in solidworks.
48:30 - The Puffy shirt! I don't wanna be a pirate!
thanks alot you saved me
your screen recorder quality and aspect ratio are so flawless that I feel like you are teaching how to do all that stuff on my computer :v
yess thanks!!!
Thank you very helpfull
Weird my "2d pattern window" toolbar looks totally different from yours, I dont have the tools to make planes and stuff?
Helpful!!!
How do you drag and pin at the same time? If I'm dragging cloth while simulating I canno't pin it, I have to release the cloth and try to pin it while mid air lol.
39:05 the "Symmetric pattern with sewing" function doesn't work for me. I get the symmetric piece but without any sewing. What am I doing wrong?
speaking of MD, have you guys thought of doing a video about the different types of workflows?
By the gods that interface option is going to make things SO MUCH EASIER. I had nightmares for 2 nights after making my first piece in marvelous.
How can we assemble a pattern that folds naturally like a collar and stuff? Do we first build the entire shirt and then deform or we add later on a ready-folded piece to the neck line?
When I made the pocket using internal lines, it mirrored on the other side of the shirt. How did you make the internal line of the pocket only appear on one side?
Keyifli bir video olmuş tebrikler
Great!
hey guys, this is a great tut! i'm stuck on a project and hope you can help. when i go to animate leggings in MD, the fabric tears up (fragments) and get holes, mostly along the inner legs. i've tried using different fabrics, even ones with stretch. maybe it's a self-collision issue? any idea what settings i can adjust to fix this? thanks.
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! So helpful! I'm about tonlook at your other video regarding Marvelous Designer. Is there any way I can find out how to export the patern I create on Marvelous to a PDF file? Do you have video explaining the basic of the animation? Thanks again !!
