    Think of a baseball swing, or a hockey or lacrosse shot. Do they keep an arm straight? Of course not. Obviously, you can still hit good shots with a straight arm. But you have to do so many other things to compensate for it, that mostly only young athletic guys can do it. And usually only after years of practice. Whereas the golf swing is easy and natural if you bend the lead arm.
    Like all the other stick sports, eventually you want the arms to straighten out, but all the power comes from uncurling the bent arms. Your dominant hand is your trail hand, not your lead hand. That's the key to understanding the golf swing.
