Robert Smith has such a brilliant mind and speaks so eloquently... it's no wonder he is such a wonderful songwriter and storyteller. ♥️ Thank you for uploading this interview, Brian. 😊
Love the haunting sound of The CURE since I was a teenager. Long carreer : after 40 years, Robert Smith became a Legend all over the world. This man is still so amazing, kind, brilliant, creative and charming ! Just like heaven...
i love hearing him talk about how they could carry on without simon. but the only time they ever put out less-than great albums was when simon wasn’t in. it’s not about the members but in a way, robert and simon are the blood and the soul of the cure
@@melissawells5779agree and he is one of the few Btits where you can like actually here is british accent when he sings which is unusual, you cant hear that with most like Adele and other male bands. I can hear the accent with Morrisey but not Bernard Sumner from New Order. I think the brit accent that is weaved through the songs does add texture to the overall song.
He’s so young here, 28 or 29. The hardest thing is to look at him & realise Disintegration is in his future. I’ve listened to it six times in the last couple of days. It’s astonishing.
Excellent interview without stupid person asking promo questions top quality guy i wish i would know him personally i am not a Cure fan i enjoy their music and more over Robert Smith ( the most common name in England doing the most uncommon creations) I would love to talk with a true fan and what it sbeen like growing up with the Cure ..
The reference to Lol as a blanket is a direct consequence of Lol problems with alchool. He was kicked out during Disintegration album recording, because he was always drunk. Lol took many years to recover but in the end he behaved like a man and apologized to everyone. Lol is back into the band, altough he is not an active member. Much of what the band is was merit of Lol, everyone knows that.
Lol was in serious trouble with boozing. Everybody knew it. but him. He got kicked out as a measure of intervention. Remember the core of the band are family. And Robert kept Lol on the payroll, long after he wasn't involved with the band. And when Lol tried to sue Robert and Simon, he was still out of his mind. Lol is not like that anymore. He got his mind clear, and even though he is not physically in the group anymore, he is still family with Robert and Simon.
Lol did what he had to, and so did Robert and the band. The fact that he’s credited with writing on disintegration despite is minuscule Role, and that they didn’t remove him from the band until after the album was done, shows how much they value him and care about him. Sending someone away is not always abandonment.
7:46 I am very much interested about the fact that group members left and come back after years. But what is Roberts philosophy behind that. He explains it in this interview. But I didn’t get the point. Does anybody can explain what Robert tries to figure out?
I think he likes working with people who want to work with him, that contribute to their output & is a positive force in the band (or at least not a corrosive force)
@@GT380man Thank you. That princip - ex groupmembers have the option to come back is outstanding. And i think as far as the acutal european tour 2022 is concerned it has a positive effect.
He didn't bash Pornography, he said he was really proud of it. It was the music critics at the time who bashed it and gave the impression that it was poorly received.
Didn’t your mama every teach you if you can’t say nothing nice then don’t say anything at all. Ha! Besides Robert Smith is the best. My two favorite albums are Disintegration and Wish.
Smith should really cut his hair and go back to something like this, especially now that he's gained tons of weight. The current Gene Simmons helmet/abandoned bird's nest "look" is not at all flattering to him. Looks like a crazed melting cat lady or a grandma that cakes on her makeup now...
his hair today was ugly. this is due to so much crap that went through it. and another thing the hair was badly treated and eaten. it would be better if you cut your hair like an army lieutenant
Robert Smith has the most beautiful face, really captivating. I could watch and listen to him for hours.
Same
Same same o. yeah
And that sweet voice!!
And watch him dance. His whole persona always brightens my day.
He is a gorgeous man.
His voice is so soothing.

just listening to Robert you kind of know that he is realy smart and a deep mind.
Truly brilliant

And they just got a US and UK number one album after 16 years of waiting. :)
Robert is so adorable.
Yes Robert, 30 years later you are still going mate!!
35 years now!
Robert is quite the genius, not only about music, but about the music industry, musicians, success and life.
I love young Robert, he's so introspective and so thought out. He's pretty much the same in 2022.
i love hearing him talk about how they could carry on without simon. but the only time they ever put out less-than great albums was when simon wasn’t in. it’s not about the members but in a way, robert and simon are the blood and the soul of the cure
What a beautiful human being.
So handsome wow love you Robert
Thank you take care
Какой красивый, умный, вдумчивый и трезво мыслящий человек… И голос у него очень приятный.
I love that British accent of his❤❤

this is a intresting period , just before the '' Disintegration '' album

90 what
i forgot how handsome he was.
He still is. I love you Mr. Robert Smith
I love him explaining Lol as a blanket lmao
So sad that he had no choice but to dump the blanket a year later.
It's brutal lol

I've been growing with The Cure since 1984 🖤❤
Ik ben begin de jaren 80 fan van The Cure geworden en ben het nog steeds....deze muziek is onder anderen de soundtrack van mijn leven....

👍
This is best advice I've got recently. 🙏🏻💋🤞Thanks Brian
This look from this year is very similar to the High video from 1992
Hey thank you
Сложно в него не влюбиться, девочки. Мне кажется, со мной это уже произошло 🥲
Kate 93 were are you from??
You don’t need to be a girl to fall in love with Robert Smith.
I also love David Bowie.
🤤 Young Robert ❤
i love you

Thank you. Good to know. How is he in it but not active?
8:50 " I think Lol is that blanket". (but they threw it away anyway)
You can see the realization that the day was coming, given Lol's diminished role and abilities within the band, not to mention his alcoholism.
he threw himself away... he need it

He was on a dark path, he wasn't playing any instruments and he was boozing the whole time.
❤️😎
you've never looked stupid to me. you are the man I'd love to love. You are the man I love - but I'm not gay - fuck, that scares me :D
CAN'T WAIT FOR NEW BOXIN sets 2024 pink Version 💗 or Vinyls again I'm Cassettes tape on Writing on Keyboards leftover dresses
Never knew he was so chatty!
Great interview! Do you have more of Cure interviews?

What is this from?
Before the stage character overtook the man.
Robert Smith bashes pornography really that is my favorite album is dirt and dark as it sounds it is good job downloading this uploading sorry
I like that album too & disintegration. I enjoy the darker cure songs a bit more than the really happy ones.

You don’t become president of America because you want to be famous. 🤣
Lol.
Of course I love cure, but there was 0 dislike on the video, sorry I couldn't resist xD

Yet another person shitting on his looks. He's paid his dues, let the man be. The music is all that should matter.
